The site's been wonky the last couple of days. I'm working to isolate the problem. No, I don't think it's anything nefarious.

To PM me click "Messages" in the header at the top of the page, then click "Write new message" and type my username (JtC) in the "To" field and type the subject and message then click "Send message".

In addition we will be going offline periodically the next week or two for regular maintenance and updates. I'll try to do most of it late at night, probably around 12:00 midnight central time. I'll try to keep the downtime as brief as possible.

Many years ago, if I remember correctly it was 2009-2010, I was a member of a vibrant left leaning blogging community that was about the same size as this one. In retrospect it very much reminds me of c99p and I know several of our members here were also members there and may recognize the scenario that I'm about to expand upon. As a matter of fact much of the design and concept of this site was borrowed from that site. There are many similarities.

But there appeared a dark cloud on the horizon. I personally witnessed this community destroy itself.

Good morning folks.

Here's a quick roundup of recent changes here at our little Hernando's Hideaway.

We had a corrupted database table yesterday (Sunday). I spent the whole day trying to correct it, to no avail.

The solution was to restore the database from early Sunday morning's backup. I was able to save the essays that were posted after the backup was created (about 5:00 Sun. morning), but not the comments. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The last couple of days I've received several complaints about the c99p mobile format. Could those that use mobile devices please relay in the comments specifically what the problem is.
