I hate to bring this up, I really do, but...

Finally the new Drupal upgrade to version 8 has been released, but I'm going to put off installing it until it is more stable, probably in a couple of months. Another reason to put it off for a while is the many modules (non-core programs) that we use for c99p will not be compatible until they are rewritten for v.8. Much of our site would cease to function without the updated modules.
Soon we will need to renew our server and domain name fees, so if we're going to do it now is the time to change the name of this site, as we've been talking about for months. Here are a few I've been bandying about and a few submitted by others.

Today's Open Thread will be some meta, helpful hints, and general information about caucus99percent. We've had quite a few new members join recently and it may be a good time to review some things.
I've long wrestled with myself ever since the inception of this blog as to whether I should voice my opinions about certain subjects. I've mostly stayed silent about many things not wanting to taint the discussions and believe me I have written several acerbic screeds only to delete them after second thoughts. I feel it's best that I as the founder and admin stay as neutral as possible.
Caucus99percent site history and site meta. Please read this all the way through, folks, especially the end, it's important for the future of this site.

First up, a little site meta. The autoplay problem with the Video button in the editor toolbar has been corrected, you can now embed videos easily and quickly by clicking the "Insert Video" button and enter the video url in the top box, select "OK" and you're done, give it a try. It also works with many different sources (Youtube, Vimeo, etc.). When I get some time I'll write a FAQ explaining all the various functions of the toolbar. Most of the buttons work by simply highlighting the text that you want wrapped with HTML code and then selecting the appropriate button in the toolbar, it will automatically wrap the text. It's very easy once you get used to it. Open a diary and just play with the buttons and then just cancel the diary or leave the page, that's the best way to learn what each button does.
