Caucus Critters: Moondae Moppets: UnConventional Pawlitics!
Last week was dedicated to the Repurrblicans and Repuplicans because of their convention; and I was originally thinking to do an homage to the Democat convention this week, but I'm already tired of them before they begin! So let's do something else. Let's be UnConventional!
But first, The Recommendations:
•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.
•When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help.

Lucy Lou is currently running for President on the Indepawdent Party ticket. “I wake up every single day of my life with one single thought and purpose in life: What can I do for my humans today?” she said. “How many humans do you know with that quality?” And don't forget, she is "fully vetted". Ha!
Okay, not srsly Presidential. They have filed papers with the FEC, but the bar to Presidential Candidacy is too high, even when you're defurmined. That hasn't stopped the FEC filings, though! Lucy Lou Kayser is running against, among others, Limberbutt McCubbins:

These two Presidential candidates held their first debate on the Today Show this past February! (Debate starts at about 1:30) (sorry about the ad, I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it)
Despite successful mayoral races, Lucy Lou seems to be the only dog running for President this year. There are, however, more cats:
There's Stump Rachiele of Warwick, Rhode Island, who filed after the Trump campaign moved into the same strip mall as their business:

No word at this time on debates with all candidates present, though. Will the mainstream media continue to give all the free air time to the hoomin but not the humane?
Is the election fixed? Are the candidates? Is that too personal a question?
In other UnConventional Pawlitical news, you've probably heard a lot about Tim Kaine in the past few days. You probably know that he was governor of Virginia and then a U.S. Senator. Maybe you think you know all you need to know about him. But did you know that for his Senate race, he had a pootie challenger? Yes, again, srsly!

Unfortunately, the canines formed a PAC with the hoomins, and Hank ended up coming in third:

Despite the attack ads, Hank ended up with 7000 votes anyway. Not too shabby for a tabby. Yes, Senator Kaine, you (and the Republican hoomin) lost 7000 votes to Hank the Cat!

my two old cats were not impressed with this chatty catty video
For starters, it woke up Moonya who is basically a meatloaf with fur. If she has to move, she's annoyed.
And happy go lucky guy, Dylan, was somewhat confused and alarmed. He went to the front door a few times. Then he smelled my ideapad. Then he tried to tell me he hadn't been fed all day. Liar.
I love Siamese kittehs. But I always end up adopting a little black cat.

How funny! Your ideapad has very true to life sound, apparently.
It didn't disturb my pets, but they've spent most of the day upstairs with the fans blowing on them, so maybe they didn't hear it.
(The AC doesn't reach upstairs very well, but the cats seem to prefer it - I keep the downstairs too cold at 78? - I worry about them overheating, so have box fans blowing toward them from the floor vents, for what AC there is.)
Please apologize to your pooties for me with extra scritchies. I know what a violation of catiquette that was. AFAICR, none of the other videos have cat noises so should be OK to watch in "mixed" company.

Especially got a kick out of the Talkeetna (Alaska) feline Mayor story. Years ago, we had good friends from Talkeetna.
(We lived considerably north, only 70 miles from where travel by road ends; I met them while conducting business at [now] Joint Base Elemendorf-Richardson.)
Anyhoo, it's interesting--the TV Show, Northern Exposure, was actually filmed in Washington state, but was based upon the community of Talkeetna--which is part of the larger Anchorage, Alaska Metro Area (statistically).
Again, thank you for the pleasant diversion, and fun photos!

The ONLY good thing ever

Socks really was a pretty cat--I keep hoping a black-and-white kitty will find me, that's one that hasn't happened yet, though.
We got a new addition the other day, speaking of "cats finding you":
She's very small, but is apparently 7 or 8 months old now and fixed (though she wasn't chipped). Very well cared for, but very hungry, just the same. "But surely she belongs to someone" we said, and put up a couple of newspaper ads and a bit (with picture) on social media and such. No contacts yet, it's been over a week. We are of course growing fond of her in the meantime, and she seems happy to be here. Elvis is still thinking about this--he's like four times her size, so I don't think he feels threatened, but he's awfully spoiled, so we'll see!

Alert the local vetenarians in your area that you found a kitten. Sometimes their staff know of a family in grief over losing a pet from fireworks.
July is brutal for pets due to freaking fireworks.

Thank you, that hadn't occurred to us. She doesn't seem particularly jumpy (as one might expect from that?) but she's kind of shy, so maybe that's part of it. We did contact the local vet but they're the only ones I'd call "close by"--we're kind of off the beaten-path--we see a lot of drop-offs, sad to say. People suck...

Tons go missing after July 4th. They bolt and keep running, some have run for days. The sheer terror these fireworks do on our pets and some people is just cuhrazy.

Yikes! I hate July 4. I took ZenTrainer's advice this year and
tried to stay calm myself, just visited the pets upstairs and gave treats a few times during the evening. It worked pretty well, they'll brave anything for treats. But of course the bigger problem is pets kept outside. I wish they'd outlaw fireworks. "Let's blow stuff up for fun!" Great idea - not.

Heh. I used to think if a President had a cat instead of a dog,
he must be a pretty good guy. I have had to reevaluate that, obviously. But yes, Socks was a beauty. And lived to be about 20!
Your little tabby looks precious. I probably wouldn't try too hard to find her old home! Other than what DJ said. Ginger thinks you should keep her - tabbies stick together! Be sure to give Elvis some extra attention, hopefully he will get over his jealousy soon.

2. the little pupster can barely stand he's so weak but makes it over to the bicyclist

FYI: The dog has been adopted after his rescue.
