Caucus Critters: Moondae Moppets: Repurrblican Convention!

i thought I'd get in the spirit of the convention with a photo spread!

But first, The Recommendations:

•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.
•When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help.
•If you would like a pic from the posts, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks.
•We love critters, so any/all photos that encourage human violence against an animal will be frowned upon and considered out of bounds!

Looking forward to watching 'small doses' of the Conventions. So thanks for the cute and funny photos of the 'convention' critters. More than anything, we'll be happy when they are over.

Traveled out of town, just to get sucked into another storm cell (intermittently).

Stay cool CC'ers! Regardless of where we are by weeks end, we'll be seeing temps of 100 plus. (And, unfortunately, every location is humid as heck, as well.)

Have a nice evening.

Mollie

gatherings, so am sticking to the animals. There is an effort to dump Trump going on today, apparently; they mentioned it on the news - a rules fight that would free delegates to vote for someone else. I doubt they'll succeed, though. In any event, if anything untoward happens I'm sure we'll hear all about it in various forums.

Yikes, 100s. We are "only" supposed to be in the 90s this week; but yes, humid too! Only made it into the low 80s today; I'm hoping to continue that streak despite the much higher forecasts!

Misty May is mighty cute too!!

furbaby's photo, to switch off with hers later this evening.

I find a little comfort in looking at her, because she looks so much like one of our first dogs--an 'almost' soft-coated Wheaten terrier. I'll probably post his photo here, eventually. (Main difference was that his coat was white as a sheet of notebook paper, or snow white.)

She worked out the automatic feeding gizmo we bought once. It was lots of food all the time......for a couple of days.

Said gizmo was thus utterly pointless.

He's something, all right. He's the mellowest cat with a huge purr--except when he wants to eat, which is often. Sigh. I swear he can tell actual human time, lol! And yes, we'd had visions of little black-leather kitty jackets when he was a kitten, but our Elvis would be in the "large-jumpsuit" phase of the King's career by now. He's still the handsomest, but the vet says he needs to drop a couple pounds--I agree, I can barely pick him up. Pictures don't do his size justice, he's huge!

If you put him on a diet, just be sure to take the weight off SLOWLY! http://www.pethealthnetwork.com/cat-health/cat-diseases-conditions-a-z/f...

"Often known by the laymen’s term “fatty liver,” this disease occurs when cats —especially obese cats— go without food for a few days"

I know you wouldn't let him go entirely without food. Susceptibility depends on whatever happens to be the cat's genetic predisposition, but Miss Molly went through liver failure twice! The second time we were being very careful to withdraw as small an amount of food as possible. After that, the vet said never mind, just let her be chubby.

It is more likely in females, so hopefully your boy will do well on his diet. Just let him lose the weight slowly.

Always appreciate kitty tips. We once had a diabetic kitty, our Sassafras, and I have always been thankful so many people are so caring about our furbabies, for their advice and such. I'll tellya, it is not easy to get a cat on a diet, but we managed to take 5 or 6 pounds off his 20 lb frame. It helped a lot! We still had to give him insulin though, and were very fortunate he adapted well to it. He was always an inside cat, so that helped too--but we had to modify the food we were giving him (there is so much garbage pet food available in this country, don't even get me started!), and that put him over the top, he was practically back to his old self again, bouncing around. Not bad for an old guy, either, he lived to be 20 years of age--he was a good boy, lemme find his pic, I have it around here somewhere....

digital cameras. I'll get old photos transferred over somehow someday.

She looked about like Elvis, but in calico. She was very sweet and silly. She loved to settle down on a chair opposite me and watch me work (I don't understand the fascination of watching me watch a small screen and then type occasionally, but she found it so). Her alternative name was Fluffernutter.

The 22-year-old all black cat died. She was a part of my life for a long time.

In her last year of life, she demanded FRESH water, often at 3:30 in the morning. And fresh food at odd times, too.

ETA:
She deteriorated so quickly! On Monday, she was fine. On Tuesday, I noticed she wasn't eating, not even her favorite treats. By Thursday, I realized she was dying but she didn't seem to be in pain. By Friday evening, she was in pain so we took her to the vet. Sigh.

22 is LONG in cat years, you know you did right by her. Still, I know how hard that makes it. I had a few live longer than 18, which is the longest I've lived with anyone!

When they're in pain, it's time. You did her a favor there.

Oreo likes his water extra-fresh too! Good thing water is not expensive.

When you're ready, I hope you'll share pics and stories! That's what we're here for.

"We" (and by "we," I mean "I," because the non-spouse partner refuses to claim ownership) currently house a 15-year-old feral who avoids human contact at all costs. Which I take to mean, she'll live much longer than my previous two -- both highly affectionate if quirky -- who only made it to 13 and 14, respectively.

Regardless, it's always wrenching to lose them, especially when you're in charge of the decision. But you did the right thing by her. She knows it, and hopefully eventually you'll find comfort in that, too. 22 years is a true gift, despite the hurt.

Still so sad over it. It was not quite three weeks ago now. It was my dear buddy, Inky. Originally my oldest step-daughter's cat, she stayed with my wife and I after the step-daughter left the house. She had adopted me, particularly. Broke my heart to lose her. She went downhill quickly, too.

To make matters worse, just a few hours ago, my wife informed me (I'm on the road, at work and far from home) that she had to have our tortoiseshell, Callie, put down. Callie was her cat. Naturally, we're both devastated over this most recent loss. Really bad that I wasn't home to help.

The saddest part is that our one remaining cat - our blue cat, Holly - is now wandering the house, looking for her friend. Holly is the youngest of our three. All were rescues of one form or another. It's going to be tough for all of us.

The loss of our black cat is the toughest. Black cats are something special. I guess you know this.

short time between. I lost two cats in the same year, separated by about 3 months, and that was rough; if it'd been just a few weeks, I would have been an emotional mess.

As soon as you're ready, I'd recommend adopting one more. I had a cat (Wally) who was despondent and very clingy after we lost her companion. I adopted a cat for her (the aforementioned Molly) and Wally perked right up. Even though they didn't get along at first - short-haired Wally thought big-haired Molly was puffed up wanting to fight! But after Molly treated Wally's emotional outbursts with disinterested disdain for a while, they started getting along great and became best buds.
