A Reason why Elizabeth Warren might agree to run for VP

Liz Warren is possibly the smartest person in Washington. She's already proven herself to be effective, which does not require further emphasis by me. She does an exquisite job at skewering self-serving, sociopathic Banksters, Federal Revolving Door bureaucrats, Koch-suckers. She gets under the skin of Donald Trump like no one else can (three cheers for that attribute alone).

Furthermore, she is a master politician whose name has been invoked by two presidential candidates, as well as lurker Joe Biden, as possible vice-presidential candidate. That displays true political mastery!

So, now, several possible scenarios why Liz might choose to run for VP regardless of who asks her:
1. If HRC wins the nomination, and all goes well for Shillary (because the system is rigged), then Liz gets a free ride to national prominence. If HRC loses the general election, Liz's political career will not be harmed--she has a safe seat in the Senate.

2. If Bernie wins, their pairing would unite possibly the entire Democratic Party as well as many Independents, so producing a Democratic victory in November. Now Liz might not want to run with Bernie, because she could feel Veep is only a figure-head position and her estimable skills would be put to better use by remaining a voting member of the Senate. She would certainly feel comfortable with Bernie's proposals and progressivism--if they do have differences, those differences would be minor. Of course Bernie stands to gain with her running for Veep.

3. This is where it gets interesting: returning once more to Hillary's enlisting Liz to run as Veep, a tantalizing prospect opens up: as Judge Anthony Napolitano (yes, he's right wing but he knows the law) states that "A perfect [legal] storm" is closing in on Hillary. The FBI is already on her case, with interview of her inner circle at State due to testify (if that is the correct term) in the next few weeks. Very possibly HRC may be requested to e interview--something which she said about 6 months ago that she be glad to do--such an interview is likely to be a lose-lose situation for Hillary. If she does not agree to the interview, then what little credibility she may retain up to that point will be lost. Another possible outcome is that HRC will say something contrary to testimony by her top cronies, which would open a wide wound suitable for further criminal probing. But wait, there's more!

Judicial Watch is coming at her from currently two sides at once (with other probes likely due to other acts of FOIA obstructionism yet pending). Each of the two JW probes have been authorized by two federal judges, neither of whom are pleased with Hillary's and the State Departments handling of requests for information. This means that almost simultaneously, expositions under oath will be overseen by each of the judges, with same cast of potential malefactors testifying at each hearing. In fact, one judge has apparently given JW the green light to question HRC under oath. It is also possible that the other judge may do likewise, compelling Shillary to testify in the other, contemporaneous lawsuit.

Even if HRC is ultimately vindicated (if I may be permitted to use such an odious adjective as applying to her), this time in deposition and in interviews will take Clinton off the campaign trail for some days. Now accepting the real possibility that BHO will either pardon her or have Attorney General Lynch refuse to indict her will:
a) drive a wedge irremediably into the heart of the democratic Party, breaking it asunder--this would deprive Hillary of much need potential support from her own party, without which she cannot be elected President. Following this train of thought further, if Shillary does not get elected, Warren's career is not damaged--because nobody votes for Vice-President really. Liz will retain her chair in the Senate meanwhile garnering national name-recognition, which would provide a positive boost for any upward moves she might consider (e.g., President).

b) in the off chance that the legal quagmire does not take Clinton down before election day and she WINS the presidential election then there are three subsidiary possibilities which would benefit Liz Warren immensely:

1) She is criminally indicted after her election and foes from office holder to wearing an orange jump suit. This outcome makes Liz Warren President (one caveat to this scenario: can a sitting President pardon him/herself?)

2) She is not criminally indicted, does win the Presidency but is immediately impeached by the House of Representatives. If not removed from office by the Senate, HRC will effectively be a lame duck president from the outset. In that case, had she any honor (a dubious proposition), she would resign the presidency, leaving Liz Warren as president.

3) HRC does win the presidency, is impeached by the House of Representatives AND removed from office by vote of the Senate, then Liz Warren becomes President.

The way I see it, it would make perfect sense for Senator Warren to agree to being HRC's running "mate".

EW would be immediately sidelined by the HRC gang to an unimportant position in the Administration, and she would be duty bound to "support the President".

Bad move, and I think she's clever enough to realise that.

There are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.

and all of this is hypothetical. LW would never allow herself to be shunted off to an unimportant position in Hillary's reign of corruption. It would be VP or no deal, according to my thinking--again just musings on what might be.

Ya know Hillary may croak from bloating over her gluttony of power while in office. Wall Street must approve a Hillary VP because they may likely become president. Hillary will float names just to con naive progressives into thinking they are sympathetic to progressive ideals.

Not without a conflict of interest case being brought against him/her. = )

If Warren has integrity, and I think she does, she will stay far away from accepting a VP position under HRC. Whether fair or not, it would create a guilt by association tag that would be very hard to shake.

If Sanders gets the nomination, having someone from the same geographical area is usually not a good strategy. I have been thinking more along the lines of Nina Turner or Tulsi Gabbard.

If I had money and HRC stole the presidency, I would bet that the Republicans will serve her with impeachment papers at the swearing in.

then Nixon would have done it. That's why I expect Obama to issue a blanket pardon for anything Clinton may or may not have done on his way out the door. Remember Nixon was never impeached, much less convicted of a crime. I don't see any reason Obama couldn't do the same.

He stepped down after it became enormously clear to him where the train he was riding had as its ultimate destination: impeachment, so in that sense the two situations are not analogous. Please note, however, that an option I offered was that if if Hillary was in the same predicament, and if she had honor she would step down rather than be forced out. This is a very big if.

I don't know that you can preemptively pardon someone. Could this be why the FBI is taking so long?

If they wait until after Obama is out of office, there will be no pardoning.

Also, don't you actually have to be not only indicted but convicted of a crime before you can be pardoned?

That would be some interesting timing. The FBI could indict prior to Obama leaving office, but not have the conviction go through until after Jan 1st...

However, I don't know if a sitting president can be indicted?

Of course, all of this fantasy presumes the FBI is actually going to do their job, and not be bought off just like everyone else by the elite.

Presidents can only pardon those convicted of federal crimes.
No pre-emptive pardons are authorized per Article II.

It would be very interesting if the FBI decided to indict but timed it so no pardon was possible... When I say interesting, I mean America-saving...

However, I don't expect that to happen.

It's been a long long time, but if I remember correctly they sure can pre-emptively pardon everyone that might ever be in a position to be forced to testify against him/her.
There was a magnificent editorial cartoon (WaPo?)- that had ol' Georgie sitting in the oval office dressed up as Santa Claus, and writing on a scroll. It went something like ... I George Herbert Walker Bush do hereby fully and formally pardon George Herbert Walker Bush for any and all crimes which I, George Herbert Walker Bush, may have committed - but didn't! - while in office. Signed, George Herbert Walker Bush.
One for the ages..

Liz Warren would surrender all power and ability to actually accomplish anything in trade for the ability to break a tied vote in the Senate. Heck of a deal - for Hillary!. Nothing would muzzle Warren faster than to run with Hillary and be assigned to the Democratic Party version of Siberia! Hillary will not share power, and will not be upstaged by an underling.

So wake up and smell the corruption. Warren as VP is exactly what Wall St would love.

Neoconned, your position is eminently appropriate and I have only one retort. But first, we DO need to consider the guilt by association scenario in that anyone in Hillary's realm will definitely share in the blame and share in the shame. I believe that if HRC is elected, she will effectively be a "lame duck" from day one. Republicans don't hate Bernie--many have said so. Many Republicans do think LW is a pain in their butts, yet they do not hate her--she actually might get "it" done (whatever "it" turns out to be. Republicans DO HATE Hillary uniformly (even though the Koch-suckers seem to be warming to the idea of her presidency). In this world of polls, crystal balls, and punditry, we are like denizens of Plato's cave, seeing only shadows for now.
I think Bernie could do far worse than picking Nina Turner or Tulsi Gabbard as running mate--in fact I would love it. Both of these women have proven themselves able to shred Republicans very efficiently.

She knows $hillary's values, as she clearly declares on this Moyers interview. (about 5 min)

by saying I wouldn't vote for clinton even if she had Jesus as her running mate, which is possibly the only person that could keep her from being humiliated by trump.
But I was thinking, who could she pick that would fire up the base, because she sure isn't going to...then it dawned on me.
Michelle Obama...
Now I don't know how the Obamas feel about clinton but I have to believe 'not much'. But their politics pretty much align as in corporate lackeys and the Obamas are still young. And I know Obama is a polarizing figure. But as we always said, we GOTV we win. And it's going to take a huge GOTV effort by clinton should she win the primary, to make up for those of us that will not vote for her...

to keep the Rs from impeaching Hillary, but this is all idle speculation; Warren would refuse the nomination, especially since her senate seat would turn red if she did, with little hope of recovering it, thanks to Martha Coakley.
More interesting is if they could actually remove her from office. The most likely scenario is that they will need about 20 D senators to vote against her. I can't see that happening, though it might be possible that things could go Nixon level bad, and then the D party goes the way of the dodo.
