Friday Night Photos Airborne Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 08/14/2026 - 5:00pm
Happy Friday everyone. Welcome to Friday Night Photos your once a week escape from the day to day insanity of the world we live in. Post any photos, memes, music or whatever else you find of interest that helps tune out the madness.
Last month the camera club went to the Torrey Pines Gliderport located along the cliffs of La Jolla. Last time I was there was ten years ago and hang gliders were the big thing. Now it's paragliders. It looks like fun but I don't know if I could run off the edge of a cliff to get airborne.

How did you get up in the air
.
to make those shots? You mustsbeen pretty high at the time.
No matter, I wouldn't try that sport on a bet. Parachute paranoia.
Nice pix SP!
And just because - Its Friday
Zionism is a social disease
Hi, Q
I haven't been high in months, though being on a cliff edge does give the impression of being high. Thanks for the festive Friday music.

Hi Q
Thanks for that song, it's one I can enjoy every day of the week!
Hi Social
Thanks for another series of entertainment. The passengers going along for the ride look happy, while the drivers look serious, understandably. The expression of the guy above the water looks like he’s thinking, ‘oh no’, I wasn’t prepared to land in the water.
As uplifting as it looks, it is not on my bucket list. Speaking of, which I watched The Bucket List last night, and enjoyed it at least as much as the first time years ago.
On my way out yesterday morning, looking inland.
If you enlarge and look along the railing on the right you will see the Piwakawaka (Fantail) flitting along. S/he is a very small and very friendly bird. The body is 3 inches and so is the tail.
On my way back home looking out over the bay at low tide, and the open ocean beyond.
Cheers all
Hi, janis
Thanks for the wonderful views of the bay and the Piwakawaka. Small as it is, I can see it's fantail sticking up. Does the bay have a name and is it on the east or west side of the island?

You're welcome Social
It's Huia Bay, on the north west side of the Manukau Harbour, and the wild west coast of the Tasman Sea.
...
How about an outing here ; ).
Thanks for the info, Janis
as for an outing there, New Zealand has been on my bucket list of places to visit, so hopefully one day soon.
