Bloviating through the first 100 days
The rhetoric is off the charts. Not just from Trump, but from all his lieutenants, the fake news outlets, foreign leaders, and pundits the world over.
Who to listen to?
I can't stay awake long enough to consider one news cycle, when across the planet another speech, press statement, or quip is whipping up chaotic responses that run the gamut of profound stupidity to enlightened revelations of where the world is heading.
It's getting really hard to keep up and I'm beginning to think it is a feature, not a bug.
Keep all of us dizzy with wars and near wars, near and far, economic collapse, foul corruption, interspersed with catastrophic fires and floods, threatening asteroids, and polar vortexes.
And plane crashes. Good lord, another crash in Toronto yesterday.
I've run out of popcorn, damn it.
I can't wait for spring planting season so I can bury my head in the dirt and just come up for the evening news.
April 30th will mark the 100th day of Trumps reign.
It can't come soon enough.

I have no wisdom to contribute
with respect to news sources. I superficially surf across a lot of different "news" outlets, and only do a deep dive on topics that particularly interest me- and even then, I look for at least 3 sources. The propaganda is so exhausting, and the screams of sky-is-falling terror from the Circle-D corporation minions are so deafening, that I'm pretty much tuned out of most day-to-day goings on.
I got my federal tax refund over the weekend, so that was a worthwhile thing. Definitely file early if you can, before they "run out of money", or more likely fire the people to review the returns. And that'll be going straight to medical bills, since I have surgery scheduled for early March, to repair the repair of the repair of the incisional hernia I developed after my gut surgery a few years ago. I'm getting tired of having my small intestines hanging out in the breeze.
The good thing about surgery is that you can't hear the news when you are under general anaesthesia. So, that's another hundred grand or so transferred from the insurance company to the hospital. At least maybe that'll be healed up for when things get even sillier...

in quarterly installments. Didn't pay enough last year, so had to pony up another $528. No penalties though.
With regard to sources, I have over 80 sites that I monitor randomly.
Of course, I have faves I read everyday.
But you are right, you have to dig for the unvarnished truth.
Sorry about the surgery to be. Going under the anesthesia has always frightened me more than the surgery itself, I don't know why.
Doc says I'm showing signs of kidney disease, but hasn't yet reached stage 1
So I'll change my diet and exercise some more and try to lose some weight. And drink more water.

At this point,
strangely, I have no fear of surgery at all. I partially woke up once during a knee surgery, years ago- shocked the shit out of them when they realized that I was present and watching the procedure with some interest. But it was good for a laugh in the recovery room. I had received an epidural in addition to the general, so it wasn't painful- but there was a certain amount of consternation before the lights abruptly went back out.
There's now a note in my chart that says something to the effect of "Dear future Anesthesiologist: you gonna haveta whack this guy hard!". The way I look at it is that if it goes wrong, I simply won't ever know. Good enough for me!

The last one of those I got was 20 years ago, maybe longer than that.
My goal is to get my return done and not worry about the arduous prep work until next year. Maybe I can finish my work in another 2 hrs.
I stopped watching cable tv decades ago.
I look for news, and find rwnj sites are first out with breaking news stories, and I know they will be prejudiced, but at least I get actual breaking news, then find other sites to get other details and perspectives.
So many news outlets are behind a paywall.
Both sides of the political spectrum are fanatics. I grow weary of it.

is that we are watching the normalization of Trump even as the TDS noise gets more and more shrill. It would look too silly for the entire Woke-iverse to turn on a dime and fall in line behind the Orange Fart Cloud. So now we have Pussy Hats II -- This Time It's Really Serious!
Don't expect anything you care about to get better under the Next Normal, which will have a strong resemblance to the Old Normal.

Basically headline reader, some Youtube videos, and Twitter channels now and then. Watching videos on proper knife sharpening. Over years collected "budget" pocket knifes of various sorts. My favorite knife was an early Kershaw flipper which terrified the black berries in the yard. But did see a news clip of my Congresswoman holding town hall meetings to hear voter concerns over Trump administration. She is loyal democratic party tool. I once wrote to her about focusing on domestic issues rather than getting caught up in the Russiagate nonsense. Got back an email response that was close to unhinged about Russia. This was like 2017.
One other time she did have meeting to address issue of student hunger in college. Watching video. Not one white male on the panel. When my stepson went to state college which was overwhelming white that many of his male friends were on food stamps. Luckily there were social workers who helped the guys apply for the food stamps. No wonder the democrats have lost white working classes. Actually working classes across the economic spectrum.

Maybe 3 years ago, we had a great garden growing.
Dear One, used to the back, super rich soil of Illinois, wanted proof my soil here at home grew lush gardens. When we left for a little vacation, and while fencing was still in the barn, we had a great growing crop of corn, tomatoes, peppers, beans, etc...Deer demolished the corn, probably coons and squirrels got most of the rest. It was a total shit show.
Friends here tell me stories about deer literally coming into their yards to eat the corn they have planted.
The deer fence should be at least 5 ft high, preferably 7 ft.
The feed sold and put into deer feeders is commercial deer corn.
We have decided to put out a salt lick for them. A deer feeder would get swamped with raccoons.

farmers planted extra for 'taxes' to the church, etc. So, I decided I'd plant extra in 'taxes' for the wildlife and world around me. Big cornfields, 10% extra planted of broccoli, and other crops as a 'tithe' for nature. And it worked for me. Hope your cornfield thrives
