Finally, some sunshine, and it looks like a few days of it too. Looking out my back window, I see chive onions, carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, raspberries, and beans doing nicely.

There's too much going on to focus on any one thing, so I'm just going to have to dump it all into one essay.

Today is election day in Colombia, and for the first time in that nation's 200 year history there is a real chance to have a leftist president.

Food for Thought

I'm at the Florida Folk Festival, so I won't be around till Tuesday to respond, but I hope you'll chime in with your thoughts. With looming food shortages I thought it would be fun to revisit ideas around diet and food production. If you don't think food is political checkout the links below the fold. You vote with your fork. You can put medicine or junk at the end of it. I've learned over the years people are as set in their diets as they are their religion. However, with impending grain shortages it might be nice to remind people we don't need grains nor are they particularly good for you.

Today is an odd collection of bits of information crossing my path this week. May not completely agree with every viewpoint of the authors, but did create deeper understanding of the subjects.

The first of two lunar eclipses for this year occurred on the 15th. Unlike the eclipse we had last November, Mother Nature was good enough to provide clear skies this time.

The next lunar eclipse is in November. Be sure to mark your calendar.
