Trump Be Crazy: The 'Democrats' Gambling Bigly. [A scream in the dark.]

Two high risk strategies

1] The Russia!! Gamble

I've said all I am going to say about that one

2] The Trump is mentally ill Gamble

SAN FRANCISCO — California Democrats are stoking a debate over Donald Trump’s mental health and fitness for office, opening a new front in the resistance to the president but raising fears that the line of criticism could backfire.

As early talk of impeachment wanes and questions about Trump’s stability have surfaced after his volatile responses to the violence in Charlottesville — most recently by GOP Sen. Bob Corker and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper — California’s Democratic House delegation has seized on an issue that until recently was limited to the Internet fever swamps.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren last week introduced a congressional resolution urging Trump to seek a medical and psychiatric evaluation to determine if he is unfit for the office. Rep. Jackie Speier called for invoking the 25th Amendment — which empowers the vice president and Cabinet to remove a president who is incapable of serving

I'll agree that Trump is a total asshole, a product of the current politics gripping the US an inevitable bi-product of the current group think even.

If you argue that Trump is insane than the current oligarchy is largely to blame, what does that say about them? It would be pretty easy to start making the case for collective insanity. The whole last election was fought over two highly disliked personalities and very little to do with what was good for Americans. Least bad, lesser evil and a whole mountain of total bullshit. Leftists/socialists want good stuff, what a load of needy wankers was a constant theme. Neither of the parties needed anyone else but their frothing bases. The MSM was a total joke run by the owners.

Who could make America great? Who could make America safe? Who would fight our senseless wars better? Shut up about health care! Shut up about the wars! Shut up about income inequality why don't you! Campaign finance reform? Third Parties? What? You god-damned traitors! Now is not the time! It never is.

Yes, we will put our faith in the NSA, CIA and FBI to make things right again! I must be fucking dreaming.

Come here Henry Kissinger it's time for a cuddle. Clapper, seriously? Wars crimes? Not if our side commits them.

All the Democrats can see is Trump!! All they could do during the campaign was say oh look Trump!! You know why, they couldn't propose anything better than the least bad, even they knew it. Cowards. How about aiming for something demonstrably better?

The Republicans have been dumpster diving with the crazies for decades. How deep can we dig the hole? Show me the Birth certificate! How heavily can we play the race card before we say the n-word. Even the Neo-Nazis are happy little troopers.

Now we are often drawn into the realm of tin-foil abuse on both sides: when any fucking theory is greeted with ooohhhh you're so right. A realm of absolutes with few bloody facts where actual proof is not important. Opinions and whacky theories are spread around until they are re-quoted and treated as truthful/factual.

Then we have the case where not to be shown up within your own clique and that you are still part of the team you join in, no matter what you actually bloody think. Some run for the door to then be attacked and ridiculed by some of those that remain, the group as a whole tags along so as not to feel isolated or locked away in some virtual padded cell.

So Trump is a narcissistic sociopath, is he any less sane than the rest? How are you going to prove he is any more crazy than the rest of the fucking sociopaths of your choice?

Yes, but Trump may lead us into a senseless conflict, where the hell have you been the last bloody 70 years?

Dear god collective insanity or what?

Yes, but we are exceptional [one of President Obama's favourites]! Our side is right!

We are down the rabbit hole where only a few have noticed that it is bloody dark down here.

Where the hell has Alice got to?

Sigh

Just a thought scream in the dark.

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANNqr-vcx0]

The lyrics are apt:
One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar has given you the call
And call Alice, when she was just small
When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom, and your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice, I think she'll know
When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards
And the red queen's off with her head

Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head, feed your head

@LaFeminista They explicitly let the Bush administration off the hook and, unless I'm missing something, they did a whole lot more than Trump has done in his eight months in office. I really fail to see where he's done much more than continue the policies of the Obama administration. He's just been much more klutzy and in the open about it.

and is doing damage. Exactly how much damage, I'm not sure. I think Obama did (marginally) improve some domestic conditions, compared to what they had been under Bush#2. Others, he made worse. But in foreign policy, it's been pretty much steady as she goes. MIC is still running the show, though Trump manages to throw the occasional monkey wrench into a few of their best-laid plans. Apparently more by accident than for any clear purpose.

@LaFeminista @LaFeminista If he commits a crime while in office, he needs to look out for investigation and prosecution. I'm not interested in digging through decades of a President's past, because that should be done, ideally, when the candidate is being vetted by the party (as in, don't choose a criminal as your standard-bearer). Failing that, campaigns are the proper place to discuss that.

Of course that only works if you have actual political parties and actual campaigns and actual elections.

That's all they've had since Her started Her run. They did all they could to push Trump out front as they thought he'd be the easiest to beat. Her was a deeply flawed candidate who tried to sidestep that by making the election a referendum on Trump. Her didn't run for president. Her ran for anti-Trump. And Her lost! They still can't accept that and they can't admit that maybe, just maybe, her was an uninspiring candidate who ran a horrible campaign. Not-Trump is all they have because it's the only thing they offer that average voters can rally behind. Sad.

Pence is far more dangerous. Without even getting into the religious zealotry, he'd be dangerous because he'd be far more effective at moving the Republican agenda forward.

Pence would be Grover Norquist's wet dream: "a president with enough working digits to be able to hold a pen." Pence would stay on
message. He would listen to his handlers and read exactly what they put on his teleprompter.

Pence wouldn't be constantly throwing wrenches into the GOP plan with off-the-cuff lunacy. He's smart enough to keep his eye on the prize.

You can't tell me someone like that isn't off in the head. So he is what he is. That has nothing to do with the democrats or other crazy people, like Clinton. It's just an observation, a pretty good one in my opinion.
Do you have any friends or relatives that act like Trump?

I seriously doubt he is going to get bounced because he's crazy. But why not call a spade a spade? The problem is, coming from democrats it is seen as a purely political move and a hypocritical one at that. But for those of us who aren't democrats or republicans, I see nothing wrong with calling Trump what he is, a nut case.

@Big Al in DC, some of them play sane. Narcissists and sociopaths abound. Claim that the US is not an Empire with a straight face? Let your own people die through lack of basic health care in the richest country on the planet? The politics of division?
How else can you plot regime change and assassination. Overturn democracies and let people like Pinochet loose on the world? It truly is a particular type of collective insanity as well as individual ones. How else can you justify sexism, racism and exceptionalism? The madness of the need for an American flag lapel pin. Demanding only presidents that go to church.

@LaFeminista power and wealth made them ultra whacko. That's what Trump is, ultra whacko. He's been a silver spooner from the beginning, lived a fantasy life and then used his billions to become president. Look at the way he talks, what he says, how he contradicts himself constantly, how he juts his fucking chin out when he's trying to be king. The guy is way out there.
That's what power and wealth does to people, it's well known. And it got to Trump big time. Of course there are plenty of others in the power circle of this country, but there's only one president with codes to nuclear weapons.
I'm not pushing for anything regarding Trump because of exactly what you say, the entire system is infested and needs to come down. It's not about Trump relative to what we Serfs need to do in the end. But he's still a nutcase. The democrats pulling that out are in no position to be accusers.

From a recent article in The Atlantic:

"Hubris syndrome,” as he and a co-author, Jonathan Davidson, defined it in a 2009 article published in Brain, “is a disorder of the possession of power, particularly power which has been associated with overwhelming success, held for a period of years and with minimal constraint on the leader.”

Its 14 clinical features include: manifest contempt for others, loss of contact with reality, restless or reckless actions, and displays of incompetence. In May, the Royal Society of Medicine co-hosted a conference of the Daedalus Trust—an organization that Owen founded for the study and prevention of hubris.

When Wall Street killed off half the world's economies, who told us we need to 'look forward' and to quit demanding 'justice'. of DC corruption and craziness, might be deemed sane or qualified enough to accurately diagnose the mental disorder of a fellow denizen. I know I wouldn't want James Clapper or Bob Corker or Lindsay Graham to be in charge of judging my sanity. But nor would I want to grant Rachel Maddow any such authority.

It's easy to see why so many soi-disant patriots want to get rid of Trump. But it would be not be at all easy to prove that they are any more "sane" than he is. He may be a rude and crude outsider, impolitic, impolite, and somewhat ridiculous -- but his accusers tend to overlook the rather significant fact that he is the legally elected President. Millions of Americans voted for him. They did not vote for Corker or Clapper or Clinton, or a gaggle of CNN pundits and amateur psychiatrists.

Trump may be incompetent, but incompetence is not insanity -- and "mental illness" is anything but a precisely defined condition. If it were customary to depose a sitting President for sheer incompetence, then surely Bush#2 would have been removed from office prior to 2008. Of course then we'd have had Cheney to deal with, who was arguably even crazier than Dubya was. On a related note, just because Mike Pence appears to be relatively rational, does not mean that he actually is.

The democrats have praised Trump where he did get belligerent when he shot off cruise missile against Syrians. Maddow is insane about the idea of Trump not militarily escalating on the Russian border. You wanna bet nothing about arming Ukrainians which Obama opposed. Nothing from them about the increased civilian deaths in Yemen and Syria's Raqqa. The democrats only real complaint about Trump is how he talks about waging cold and war with N. Korea, China, etc.

It is apparent to me that Trump could shut up the democrats if he started a war with one of the party's official enemies. How crazy is that.

The Republican Establishment never wanted Trump, and seem to have given up trying to work with him.
Talk about the Deep State, the moneyed Elites, the Democratic Establishment, whatever real or imagined power centers there may be, none of them want Trump.
The only ones who ever wanted Trump were Republican voters, and they still want him. That's the problem.
Congress could fire him in a week. Comey was fired, they have Trump's public statements, and Comey's sworn testimony before the Senate. They don't need anything else. Impeachment and conviction is a political act, it is not a criminal trial, and there is no appeal. They can just up and fire him. They get President Pence, which would make them happy, and Paul Ryan gets promoted to VP and they have to find some other sucker to try to run the House.
Except that it would be a bloodbath at the polls for Republicans while Trump's approval among Republican voters stays high.
Pence and the cabinet could invoke the 25th amendment, but with Trump's approval high he would never have a hope of getting the nomination in 2020. He won't do it.
Everything we are seeing is targeted at Republican voters. If they can drive Trump's approval numbers down they can take action to fire him. All the crazy shit Trump is doing is targeted at holding his approval numbers up. That's what the Phoenix rally was about, and possibly pardoning Arpaio. That's what shutting down the government to pay for the wall is about.
If Trump keeps his approval high, they don't dare fire him. If it drops, he's out.
The wild card is the investigation. If they can find evidence of criminal money laundering they can have a quiet meeting with Trump and hand him a resignation letter to sign. The voters can't get too angry if Trump just resigns.
My guess is that is how this will all play out.
