Doing the swamp shuffle back from the pool the other day, came across this
fine specimen of a large reptile sunning itself by the path. No danger,

As the bubbles pop, how do you say dystopia in German?
- it's been many decades since high school Deutsch, but, iirc, that would be Die Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika. 37 degrees in the East Bay this morning, which is why we're packing to get off to Mazatlan and other points Mexicana come Sunday rather than sit through Coyote only knows how long of a stretch of high fifties for the daily highs.
Nothing much going on around here that isn't part of the greater miasma, but, then again, I've barely glanced at the news so far. The big news is that a doofus named Smith has convicted Trump of ??? in his own mind and in the press, even though there is no evidence that he could stack the jury sufficiently to overcome all the telling arguments that a competent defense attorney would surely raise, as well as some allegation that Biden's handlers have decided to have him allege that he will remove Cuba from the list of state sponsore of terrorism so that Donald can put it back on. Tom foolery in high places, as they say.
