It Could Get Even More Ridiculous
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Makes Announcement About 2028 Rumors
'I have no desire to be a politician, but I’ve decided that I’m no longer going to close that door...'
Smith has previously flirted with the idea of running for president since President Donald Trump resoundingly defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024. At NAB Show in Las Vegas, he allegedly said he has “no choice but to get more serious about it.”
“I’ve been approached by people on Capitol Hill. I’ve been approached by people who are elected officials in office—whether it’s governors or mayors. … I have no desire to be a politician, but I’ve decided that I’m no longer going to close that door,” Smith claimed.
He continued, “I’m gonna keep my options open. I’m going to entertain the possibility. If it comes in late 2026, 2027, where I look at this country and think it’s an absolute mess and there’s legitimate reason to believe … that I indeed have a legitimate shot to win the presidency of the United States. I am not going to rule it out.”
My not so well disguised vice of being a sports fan has acquainted me with "Steven A." -- as he is called on his ubiquitous appearance on various ESPN channels. I call him the 21st Century Howard Cosell. He has a remarkable talent for being able to speed up and slow down his pace of speaking into the camera while continuing to make sense. He can do the same thing with his volume, and he frequently shouts at his TV audience -- spouting off his opinions about professional and college sports.
He makes tens of millions of dollars per year as an "analyst."
If Trump can go from hosting the utterly shitty Apprentice to the White House, why not this cretin?
In case any Trump Haters are wondering, yes, it could get worse -- and most of you will vote for him because at least he's not Trump.

I've often
suggested hiring a plumber to run the White House as he really knows shit flows downhill. Unlike current and past inhabitants whom have thought it runs uphill. Everything they have ever done has wound up in their lap.

Being POTUS
@
is a television performance. That became reality as of JFK.
LBJ was not good at it and could not stand for re-election for fear of getting trounced.
Nixon was a poor TV performer and got bounced by impeachment.
Carter, who was a little better on camera than Ford, got in for a single term.
Reagan was very good on TV.
Poppy was crummy on the toob and got beat by Slick who was great on TV.
Shrub was mediocre at best on TV and both of his electoral victories were steals.
Obama was better on TV than Reagan and Clinton.
Trump was good enough on TV to get to the White House against the hideous Hillary.
Sleepy Joe was so bad on TV that he got fired by his own party leadership.
Anybody else see a trend?
I cried when I wrote this song. Sue me if I play too long.
So, a plumber
in spiffy overalls won't cut the mustard?

The back and forth conversation brings to mind this individual.

I'd vote for him as an Average Joe!

Yeah, I remember him.
A McCain useful idiot. He did turn out to be right about Obama though.
Thanks for the memories.

Dems might have to run a celebrity in 2028.
Right now no dem politician stands out as a potential presidential candidate. But still too early although not too early to start developing some sort of credibility. Party masters should put a list of all the celebrity endorsements Harris received as their pool of potential candidates. Here is a list of all celebrities who endorsed Harris.
Kamala Harris Celebrity Endorsements: A List Of Celebrities Supporting The VP
A Beyonce and George Cloney ticket might work.
Dang that list scrolls forever.
occurs to me their might be
occurs to me there might be no coincidence between Trump's TV role(s) and Zelensky's. The value and advantage of media celebrity name recognition seems obvious enough. The behind the curtain casting decisions that brought these creatures forward (all this way) doesnt seem like something that should be encouraged as a solution, although I imagine we are doomed to it in this particular system where only money can afford free speech.
Soap Opera Star
You probably don't realize that Stephen A. Smith also has a reoccurring role on the soap opera, General Hospital. He plays a suave and debonair mobster who flies in from the west coast from time to time to discuss important mobster business with the head Godfather, Sonny Corinthos.
That's where I know him from. I had no idea that he was a sportscaster for a long time. So, I guess that they're all actors.
