Climate refugees
We're gonna need a shiton of troops on our southern border.
What is happening in Europe is happening here. Increasingly desperate peoples are migrating north, away from the Equator to climes more suitable to subsistence farming.
Some are moving south for the same reasons, although predominate weather patterns keep the Amazon Basin, equatorial West Africa, and southeast Asia well drenched in monsoon rains, droughts are becoming more often and severe in other parts of the world near the equator.
Recent persistent droughts in the American west and mid-west have drained aquifers and are ruining crop yields.
Droughts in Canada have sparked horrendous wildfires blanketing huge portions of north America with choking smoke and threatening the health of millions of people and other living things.
The record 2007 draught in Syria drove poor farmers into cities looking to survive, only to find opposition so fierce it not only sparked a civil war, but began a mass exodus north to Europe, followed closely by migrants from North Africa fleeing war and famine.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen in the near future at our southern border. It has already begun. Fewer and fewer Mexicans are crossing into America as Central and Southern Americans are crowding the border, desperately trying to stay alive, fleeing war, civil strife, and starvation due to changes in climate and regime change.
Climate refugees, the term everybody is avoiding.
The MSM is trying to couch it in terms of economic migrants.
Donald Trump labels them rapists, murderers, and thieves.
But nobody wants to call them what they really are, Climate refugees.
Right now, Mexico is the primary portal of choice, but eventually, as it becomes a seething horde of desperate peoples, they will jump to Cuba and other Carribean islands in a new iteration of boat people. Just like what is happening in the Mediterranean Sea.
So where will we get the manpower to patrol our borders?
Will we up taxes to hire more Border Patrol agents?
Do we increase our defense budget to fund more Navy warcraft to patrol the Gulf of Mexico?
Should we even attempt to stem the flow of fellow human beings?
We could bring our troops home from the 800 bases across the globe and man the border.
Or bring our troops home, cut the defense budget by 90% and use the money to help these people develop their own solutions to enable them to stay home.
I'm convinced there would be enough money saved to begin our very own "New Silk Road" spanning both the Americas.
Imagine a true high speed rail, highway, pipeline and communications system spanning the Darian Gap. A first for the Americas.
We can dream.
The thread is open.

Hey earthing
You expose some weaknesses in the governing bodies of this nation.
I totally agree a responsible government should be taking care of it's
own population first, before shipping dollars away to some foreign
affair. The idea of bringing home the troops from the 800 bases
scattered all over the world to be re-trained and work on fixing
issues here is good. The concept of running the world for the benefit
of the neocons and financial institutions in DC and NYC is quickly
losing its luster. How do we change the priorities is a key question.
Voting doesn't work. Organizing and demonstrating seems useless
as well. I think it will take a bloody revolution to knock some sense
into our blind rulers. Hate to say that, as I am a peacenik at heart.
Thanks for the OT!

The plane entered the tower like a hot knife enters butter
.
Or did it?
Check out the 2 photos from when the tower was being built and explain how the plane could have easily entered the tower without any wings being sheared off. Some videos show the plane popping out the other side and then suddenly stop like it hit a barrier.
From Dr. D's comment today.
That’s the steel, 360’ around. BUT THAT’S NOT THE STRONG PART. That’s just to keep 747s off – an ACTUAL design parameter from day one. The CORE is also made of nothing but concrete pillars, ground to roof:
See one of the girders being ejected on left in the picture on the right.
And now watch the video showing the collapse of the tower and see if we have been told the truth about why the tower collapsed.
Did you see the flashes of light that he says looks like explosions?
Then there’s building 7 that wasn’t hit by a plane.
Boy that came down without the building already pulverized like the tower one did. And in 7 seconds. Also remember the British women on the news report of the event saying that building 7 has collapsed 20 minutes before it actually did.
The videos are from this essay.
Well it sure looks like Rumsfeld got his new Pearl Harbor doesn’t it? Trump is facing close to 100 felonies for questioning the election results while Bush, Cheney, Kagan, Nuland and many others are walking free without a care in the world that they might be charged one day. 2,997 people died in the towers, many of the people who worked on the site for months have also died because they were told that the air was safe to breathe and they are still getting sick today and millions upon millions of people have died in the Middle East and elsewhere because of those listed above certainly lied to us and possibly did much worse.
Maybe one day if justice ever returns to America we will have a real investigation into what really happened on 9/11. Will any of us be alive if that happens?
ETA link to how first responders are still getting lung diseases today. Remember how long it took for them to get compensation from the government for their treatment? Have they actually gotten it yet?

I have actually walked iron
on several high rises. That steel is really thick. I'm very suspicious of that whole collapse.
But building seven is the real kicker. It smells of controlled demolition.
We will probably never know the truth.

The subsistence farmers
will find lots of golf courses with preinstalled irrigation when they come across the border after the nuclear exchange. I'd personally wait for 18-24 months before trying to break through the fused silica surface to get to the underlying soil, though. Most of the really gnarly nubbies will have decayed adequately by then, and cesium that will be there forever just leaves a funny metallic taste- so they probably won't mind too much, while they last.
None of us will be here to greet them, though.
The fact is that the only likely thing to cause regime change here in the US will be when the PTB finally start their long-hoped-for nuclear war, and end up losing. The current regime will cease to exist in about the first hour. So whoever can throw a stone or a spear the furthest (and is the most resistant to those long-lived isotopes) will be the ones to set up the new government.
I expect them to have either 6 or 8 legs, though. Mammals are too fragile for this Brave New World.

He's reputed
to have said that, yes, but Snopes says "unproven"... I have no doubt that, whoever said it, they are exactly right.
Here's a cheery headline:
Blinken OKs Attacks On Russia With US Missiles. 190 miles, eh?
Between that, and the report from TASS that we/NATO are going to start stockpiling tactical nukes in our new buddy Finland at the Rovaniemi airport in Lapland, which is the closest non-Russian airfield to their big Severomorsk/Zapadnaya Litsa submarine base in Murmansk on the Barents Sea- 250 miles away. And we ratchet the tension up 25 more notches.
US to use Finland's Rovaniemi airport in Lapland bordering Russia
This is madness, pure and simple, and it won't last much longer. Something is going to give, and the tighter we wind the watch, the more likely it is that some unexpected failure that nobody could foresee will end up killing us all.
I foresee it, dammit. Nobody is going to win this war; but especially not us peons here in the US...

She has already skinned, cubed, blanched, and froze baggies of potatoes. Hot peppers are coming.

Good morning earthling1. I fully agree that our money
could be much better spent and that, in theory we could create our own belt and road and bring mucho prosperity to the Americas, in theory. The US is and pretty much always has been both parasite and predator. "Hi, we're from the US and we're here to help you by bringing this high speed rail and highway communication network to your country"
"Yeah right, help yourself to our assets and labor force you mean." Who, in their right mind, would let us build an expressway into the heart of their country for our armed forces to use to waltz on in on, and, later, all those who would rape, rob, and ruin their environment, ecosystem and economy?
That said, I also object to any attempt to bridge the Darien Gap, a living monument to nature and nature's ability to interfere with our affairs. In addition, it also stands as a monument to Keat's monumental error:

But China is already building infrastructure there in a South American version of the silk road..
I'll be the first to coin it The Tortilla Road.
Mmmm, the reminds me, I need to make some fresh tortillas.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a high speed rail from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska? And then under the Bering Sea and on to Europe?
I know, dreaming.

Jimmy is out as a Cornel supporter after CW hired Peter Daou, ex Hillary C advisor, ex Clinton Global Initiative, and most recently camp mgr briefly for Marianne Williamson. Peter apparently also has a past growing up in Lebanon as a member of a Christian militia working with the IDF, which, per Jimmy, raises questions whether he might have been involved in the awful massacres of Palestinians in the refugee camps in 1982. Dore calls Daou a DNC infiltrator.
Does seem an odd hire for West. Sharp commentary today from JD which is mostly spot on:
West struck me
as a one trick pony anyway. He has zero impact on the electorate, other than minor spoiler for the vegetable.
Is Gabbard being disappeared as a non-entity? Whatever faults people keep coming up with to disparage her, her anti-war stance mitigates all of them. Which is probably why she is being shunned. .

It is an odd, rather pro-establishment move by Cornel with Daou, odd for a guy styling himself with some radical tones, and not so odd considering some of his positions (Covid and vaccines for instance) are very establishment-friendly. Strange campaign. I don't see him staying in the race by next November. He seems financially very vulnerable to a nice cushy offer to step aside.
Re Tulsi, she's been commenting on the Maui event lately. She might make for an interesting running mate for RFK Jr on an indy ticket, doubling down on scorned independent dissenters.

Actually, plenty of Bidens should disappear soon as dementia further takes hold. It is, however, amusing to note that the best Team Biden can do in foreign policy is to send Joe to Hanoi to nake a speech.

The pictures I have seen recently from the Texas border
showed big crowds of young, muscular, tattooed, extremely fit men wearing cammos. They looked like a militia, and they were not headed for fertile farms.

Did they look latina?
Or middle-eastern posing as Latinos?
I've always said; if they can cross the border with a 100 pound backpack of pot, they could easily fill it with ricin, sarin, or a dirty bomb.
Or Covid49.

They were all Latino in appearances.
I do understand there are Chinese coming, but it seems they do not cross into Texas as much as other border states. The current thinking among ICE officers and DPS troopers is that the Chinese will be getting that drug from their contacts back in China.

Last I heard
The raw materials come from China, but the cooking is done in Mexico. But because Chinese companies will ship the bulk ingredients, which have legitimate industrial uses, they are being blamed for the fentanyl crisis.
But I could have heard wrong.
