Trump about to dump Bolton

Perhaps Darnold Trump is beginning to get educated about his self-perpetuated deep state/neocons. In the words of former president Shrub (43) "don't misunderestimate me". We all are learning about those plants made by others, such as Stefan Halper, including Carter Page, George Papadopolous, and many others. The sole purpose of these persons was to undermine Trump's presidency, even before it started. Some of the plants were ignorant about their placements into the Trump team, such as George P., but others definitely knew in advance what their roles were.

Now comes evidence that several of Trump's self-inflicted mistakes have done him nothing but harm. At first, Trump believed that having salivating pit bulls like Bolton and Pompeo were useful in putting up a strong face for his presidency. And so they have. But pit bulls can also turn on their keepers, injuring them severely.

The big wake-up call to Trump is discovering the falsity of Bolton's disingenuous premise that Maduro would easily be overthrown by a coup headed by the hapless Juan Guaido and Leopoldo Lopez. Cheerleaders for this overly optimistic assessment include Marco Rubio, whose constituency includes Caracas North (Dade and Broward counties).

But Bolton aided by Pompeo have tried to convince that Venezuela (VZ) was worth fighting for. Oil, oil, oil say we all. Trump knows full well that the two keys to his re-election require two things: a strong economy and no new wars.

Somehow Trump has managed to control the Fed's interest rate hikes, thus securing one of these two political necessities. But war--what is it good for? Oil, oil oil, so say we all again. Bolton has clearly crossed an unspoken red line with Trump.

It starts like this: Bolton angers top Air Force General by pushing for more military options for war against VZ. This and similar Boltonic antics have pushed Trump into realization that keeping Bolton on the NSC is a recipe for disaster. Knowing this makes Bolton's likely departure from government before 2020 (i.e., in 2019) a certainty. Will Pompeo, who famously joked about the CIA lying, cheating and stealing, get the message? Or will Trump somehow defang his other major self-inflicted saboteur? If he does, Pompous's departure will have to be postponed until the neocons cool off a bit. The neocons will not cool off. Trump will somehow have to get Pompeo to shut up (a dog muzzle might be a good starting place).

Speaking of getting led around by the nose, we come to one Gina Haspel's great deceptions. This deception plays directly into the hands of Russiagaters. This woman, supposedly brought into CIA leadership in order to demolish the agency, is proving quite adept in perpetuating its reign of terror. Again, we have a neocon undermining Trump's prestige and authority.

There are many bit players, including Senior Executive Service personnel installed by Hussein during his last few weeks in office, loyal Clintonites all.

@Nastarana when Trump seems to hire people who represent the opposite of what he campaigned on. First of all, there are so few who aren't interventionists and war mongers - how would Trump even find one of these rare creatures? Sure, there is a handful of dems...

Does it help to keep one's enemies close sometimes?

Then again, John Kerry is running around, trying to undermine Trump's policies, too.

Perhaps Darnold Trump is beginning to get educated about his self-perpetuated deep state/neocons.

You know, that in fact could be happening. I remember thinking that Trump early on was just getting his ass kicked due to leaks and various people in the deep state beaurarcayh were just kickingt his ass one side to another politically. He had no clue about power and organization structures aligned against him. And these forces were not progressive but neocon and a bunch of war mongers.

Maybe Trump is finally figuring out how to fight them at their own game. In Syria he ordered troops out, and then was counter-mandated by the Pentagon. Maybe finally the asshole understands the game. And if the game he is playing is anti-war, I say go fer it.

well, okay, but i'm a bit dubious that said general would cause DT to ditch the mustache; he'd just have the general fired, wouldn't he? although i admit that i don't have the time nor the inclination to watch the quatari AJE video, even they get it right some of the time, depending.

but as to torture haspell, i've been following breadcrumbs for most of the day, trying to verify or debunk or verify a thing concerning julian assange in belmarsh prison. late as it is, i expect i'll have to ask at tonight's 4-hr assange vigil4assange at consortium news...or else...embarrass myself.

@wendy davis Trump is dependent upon the military. Even the CIA can't dislodge him without military support.

He may now be on the uptick of the required learning curve. Maybe not.

@Alligator Ed

i can recall, and yes, there have been many, was the NYT narrating whisper campaign among his penatgon generals saying that the Orange Man was taling about 'leaving NATO' as he'd campaiged on, but had never meant. he'd meant: pony up your dues!, yada yada.

but the net result was 'the defense of nato act' which all house dems who'd voted had voted 'aye', the senate vote a non-binding sense of the senate which bernie, et.al. had voted in favor of. so i guess we'll see about joltin' bolton, but if he goes it won't be over VZ, is my guess. land invasion? yeah, way too hard. but bombs from offshore batteries and colombia? esp. with so many false flags possibilities looming, including the CIA takin' out expendable guaido.

yeah, 'it's all about the oil' is by way of rexxon artful dodging: it's really about taking out what's left of the bolivarian revolution nations: VZ, bolivia (to a degree), cuba, and nicaragua (brazil already went down). 'direct threats to US national security' indeed. just an opinion, of course. but even now after two weeks, the gauidoistas are terrorizing the VZ embassy protective collective; even turned off the electrical power.

g' night, gator.

at RT.com:

"The USCGC James, one of the US Navy’s most technologically advanced ships, was sailing towards Venezuela’s territorial waters when a patrol boat was sent to warn it off. The US vessel backed off after radio communication.

The USCGC James, described as the most technologically advanced ship in the US Coast Guard fleet, is fitted with modern surveillance and reconnaissance equipment.
According to the US Navy, it can also serve as command post for “complex law enforcement and national security missions involving the Coast Guard and numerous partner agencies.”

on the other hand, this morning's popular resistance newsletter has newsweekarticle quoting the WaPo that DT's calling maduro a tough cookie, more tenacious, tra la la and:

According to The Washington Post, citing administration officials, Trump was unhappy with National Security Adviser John Bolton’s handling of the Venezuela crisis, half-joking that the hawkish, interventionist former U.N. ambassador wanted to get him into a war. [big snip]

The Post reported that, while Bolton’s job was safe, Trump felt boxed in by his adviser’s assertive stance on Venezuela, which included taunting Maduro on Twitter about “a long, quiet retirement, living on a nice beach somewhere far from Venezuela,” in January.

The president has pitched himself as a noninterventionist, preferring to focus on domestic issues over foreign adventurism unless absolutely necessary. But Bolton’s actions raised the stakes and expectations over crisis-stricken Venezuela.

non-interventionist, my ass. but iran...oh, my...that may just be for real.

@wendy davis held noninterventionist views well before he became president, just like he didn't like the trade situation years before he became president.

So, I try to google this to confirm, but only negative stuff comes up about Trump.

specifically in regard to venezuela. but yes, détente with russia, anti-nuke summit with kim...out of syria, etc. his con on twitter is non-military intervention one day, then the next...ouch! pompeo, bolton, and pence seem to be more reliably 'resign, or war!' sort of threats on twitter.

has thus far failed so the right wing apologists and armchair advisors are saying it's all because of Bolton (no word about Pompeo?) and if it were up to Trump there would be peace on earth, so Trump has to fire Bolton because now he knows what is required for peace on earth.
Hey, I'm not directing this at the author of this essay, it's at the right wing, like the Duran assholes, who continue to do the same thing the left wing did with Obama, claim he's held back from being a Nobel peace prize winner because of the fucking people he hired.
Trump is a war criminal and has advanced every war Bush and Obama started. His regime IS WAGING WAR against Venezuela now so to say he doesn't want war is ridiculous imo.

@on the cusp which keeps people from challenging the system. I've been told a number of times on political blogs, including this one, that imperialism is too big a word.

"The American Anti-Imperialist League was an organization established on June 15, 1898, to battle the American annexation of the Philippines as an insular area. The anti-imperialists opposed expansion, believing that imperialism violated the fundamental principle that just republican government must derive from " consent of the governed."

If anyone is reading this comment, please check out imperialism, colonialism, and so forth.

@Big Al Was Trump behind the guy who opposes Maduro? Do you think Trump ordered someone to cut off the electricity in V?

I'm not being snarky, I really want to know who started it. I doubt it was Trump. I recall Obama saying that Venezuela was a threat to our nation security.

How many years do you think that our various agencies have been working on taking over V?

IMO, Trump is trying (compared to Obama who never intended to do anything). Trump is an outsider who is up against powerful, entrenched forces who apparently do whatever they want to do. (and they would be the same had Bernie won the presidency).

Trump needs to pull security clearances for everyone who is not in his administration and stop people like John Kerry from intervening. That would only be a first step.

And how he would reign in all the subversives and insubordinates is beyond me; and I don't think Bernie or Tulsi would have much better luck.

After all, we are talking about actions that are supported by most repubs and dems.

@dfarrah As far as Trump "trying", trying to do what? Do you recall in his first year when Trump asked why he couldn't just invade Venezuela with "his" military?
Yes, Venezuela has been basically under attack by the U.S. since Chavez became president. But that doesn't excuse Trump one bit for HIS actions now.
Trump is no outsider, he's a ruling class billionaire. Some of his fellow rich people might not like him, but he's no outsider to me and mine.

@Big Al ones with power.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/1/9/16869034/donald-trump-d...

But he may apparently become a Davos type person.

I just don't see Trump as part and parcel of the US government or state governments, compared to Obama, Clinton (both), or the Bushes, Kennedys, etc., people who lived their lives in government. And he hasn't been life-long buds with these government/political lifers.

Maybe he is, and I just don't know it.

He postures a lot. I just take a wait and see attitude now.

After all, we were supposed to be immediately at war with the entire world and the economy was supposed to tank and the krakens would be released when he took office.

And nothing really earthshaking has happened on those fronts - not that wasn't already well on the way to happening anyway. (too broad of a statement to cover everything, I know)

@Big Al bring that up.

Yes, the US has been warring across the world for forever.

But you gotta admit, Trump hasn't really been part of that. Real estate? Casinos? Does he have holdings or business interests across the world that require our military to protect? Are there places with resources that he has always wanted to take from whatever country?

Well, I guess I'll try to do some research--I just haven't heard of anything.

With all the flaws in our own society--from massive inequality and racism to a political system corrupted by monetary influences--we should clean up our own house instead of telling others how to govern themselves.

So true. But so far removed from today's corrupt reality.

The next paragraph in the citation is equally useless: "sanction the The U.S." And what then would happen? Not a damn thing except for a glow of self-righteous preaching about the sanctions actually something productive against the U.S.
