North Korea and Venezuela: Wingnut Libertarians and Other Right-wing Nutbags Have No Leg to Stand On

While reading about Kos' latest tweet whining and bitching about the Russians, there was a link to an article on Mint Press News about the ban hammer Kos leveled on those of us who refused to fall in line by March of last year.

It was also at Mint Press News that I came across this article.

It certainly is an eye opener, given how often we hear about how 'evil' North Korea is. Take this, for instance:

PYONGYANG, NORTH KOREA — North Korea (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, or DPRK) is one of the least understood and most lied about countries on Earth. In Western corporate media renditions, most news about the country is alarmist (of “the North Koreans want to kill you” type), fake (“all men have to have the same haircut,” a story originating from Washington itself), or about the North’s military.

Accounts of the nation’s military prowess and threat generally ignore (as noted here) the presence of the 28,500 U.S. troops occupying South Korea, their 38 military installations, and more recently their Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery in South Korea — “a U.S. radar system opposed by the Korean people, in the North and South, as well as China.”

On September 19, 2017, in the forum of the United Nations General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump vowed to “totally destroy” North Korea.

This is not the first time threats against the DPRK have been issued. Colin Powell in 1995 threatened to turn North Korea into “a charcoal briquette” and in 2013 reiterated that threat to “destroy” the country.

Not broadcast in corporate media is the fact that America had already annihilated North Korea, destroying the capital city, Pyongyang, and cities around the country, with 635,000 tons of bombs, including 32,557 tons of Napalm — indeed turning the North into a ‘charcoal briquette’.

And yet North Korea is the evil one. They aren't the only ones Dipshit and his gaggle of corporate goons are trying to fuck in the ass to glorify the almighty capitalist politburo.

Here's a look at Venezuela:

After the purge of the strategist Steve Bannon from the ultra-nationalist entourage of Donald Trump by the troika of generals who took over the White House: James “Mad Dog” Mattis, Secretary of Defense; H.. R. McMaster, National Security Adviser, and John Kelly, Chief of Staff, the non-conventional and asymmetric war against Venezuela, partially declared by the President of the United States, could now pass to a new phase of military escalation.

This would follow on from Trump’s conflictive and starkly imperialist discourse before the United Nations on 20 September, which twisted the concept of sovereignty, and named Iran, North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela as the new “Axis of Evil”. It rekindled the more aggressive aspects of the military approach towards multiple and political wars of “regime change” as seen in the administrations of Bush/Clinton/Obama but now under the “Mattis Doctrine”.

Trump said at the U.N. that he was prepared to take “new actions” against the “socialist dictatorship” of Nicolas Maduro. Washington already imposed financial sanctions against Venezuela and on Sunday 24 September included Venezuelan government officials in a list of countries with travel ban to the United States. Even last August, the administration run by the generals of the “puppet Trump” – as James Petras calls him – did not exclude the “military option”.

In this context, it cannot be ruled out that on September 20, during “dinner à la carte” with his lapdogs Michel Temer of Brazil, Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia and Juan Carlos Varela of Panama, plus the Vice President of Argentina, Gabriela Michetti, Trump briefed them on some aspects of the military strategy designed by those colloquially called “my generals”. This would be the core of a new destabilizing, covert offensive that would facilitate a “humanitarian military intervention” in Venezuela.

"Humanitarian Military Intervention"....Sure, that's what Bush, Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld said about Iraq and Afghanistan. And we all know how they turned out.

Libertarians and other right-wing nutbags love to whine about how socialism has never worked anywhere. Yet as has been seen throughout American history, any time socialist policy is instituted ANYWHERE in the world, and I mean ANYWHERE, the US Empire and Britain are right there to initiate a coup. Or threaten with sanctions or military action. Then, when their coup succeeds in overthrowing democratically elected governments, the countries they shit on end up far worse than ever before. Libertarians, in their infinite arrogance and outright stupidity just chalk it up to 'big gubmint'.

What Libertarians and other right-wing nutbags often forget is that eebil big gubmint is literally required for maintenance of a capitalist state. And the capitalists are able to influence government more and more as they continue to extract wealth from labor while labor gets utterly shafted.

Every military action throughout the US Empire's entire existence has been taken purely for the benefit of the capitalist class, whom Libertarians and other right-wing nutbags vehemently worship and defend. The same capitalist class that instigates 'Murica's wars for profit.

Oh, and don't forget about how our government, led by Puppet Trump is fucking Syria in the ass:

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwXgbRCRtbY]

And people wonder why the rest of the world considers the US Empire a threat to world peace.

Anyway, one thing I've learned talking to Libertarians and other right-wingers is that, given a choice between a decent living with union representation, a national health service and free or low cost public education and sucking dick for a few pennies a day, they're far more likely to choose sucking dick for pennies. And they'll pay to do so, because they really do believe that subservience to the capitalists will alleviate them of their temporarily embarrassed billionaire status. Newsflash: Your status is not temporary and you will NEVER join them.

Oh, and in case you're wondering, this shit can also be applied to the current Democratic Party...at least, based on Thomas Frank's assessment of it.

See ya around,

Aspie

It's because it's socialist.

When a capitalist country fails it's because of some reason other than capitalism.
Maybe they weren't capitalist enough.

If a country hasn't failed it's because they aren't socialist

The international media was quick to report on potential fraud in Venezuela's regional elections, in which the ruling socialist party won a majority of governorships. But there isn't any evidence of massive fraud, says Alex Main from the Center for Economic and Policy Research

Reporting free and fair elections that socialists win doesn't fit the narrative...so just don't report it or lie about it.

@Lookout They aided and abetted the biggest fraud during last year's primaries by giving billions in free press to a fuckin' cheeto anyone but Clinton could have wiped the floor with.

They wanted him to win.

And some of the comments on the article you linked are just plain nuts.

Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

@The Aspie Corner @The Aspie Corner

from the article...

Very little was said about the fact that nearly every year, sometimes twice a year in Venezuela, you had elections being held at different institutional levels. These elections would typically have very big turnouts, they'd be very transparent, very free and fair. Really no one had any legitimate complaints to make, and that's largely been true for the last 15 years or so. In fact, it can be argued that the electoral system in Venezuela has gotten more and more refined in terms of the degree of transparency.

How can it be a dictatorship when you have fair and free elections? My additional thought is this is comparable to criticizing Iran (who has elections) as a dictatorship but brown nosing the Saudis who do not.

Sorry you found Alexander Main's comments nuts...I found them quite rational. Perhaps you are talking about the MSM quotes, which are indeed nuts.

@Lookout @Lookout I actually agreed with him as well. I was talking about the comment section of the article.

ps: And I did indeed find the MSM comments to be quite insane also.
