Democrats' Russophobia Hysteria Works Great On The Choir

Whether you believe that Russians are under your bed or not depends almost entirely on whether you personally identify as a Democrat.
Consider today's poll.
Majorities say that if the assessment were to prove true, these attempts would be a crisis or major problem for the US (65% say so), and that the outcome of the election would have been the same regardless of the information released (58% say that). Further, 56% say that despite this situation, the US ought to continue its efforts to improve relations with Russia rather than take strong economic and diplomatic steps against Russia...
Democrats are more likely to think the intelligence community's assessment is correct: 74% of Democrats see that as very or extremely likely, compared with 17% of Republicans.
Among Democrats, 84% consider it a crisis or major problem compared with just 37% of Republicans. Democrats are also more likely than Republicans to say that information was significant enough to change the result of the election (65% say so vs. just 10% of Republicans).
My favorite part of this poll, and most likely the sanest people, are the independents.
Among independents, 65% say that if the intelligence community is correct it would be a major problem for the country, but they tend to doubt that it is true, with just 37% saying it's very likely to be correct and 38% that it could have changed the outcome of the election.
You won't read that on TOP.
But since all the independents were bojo'd, there is no longer a danger to the echo chamber.
Nor will you real last month's polls, like this one.
Just one-third of Americans say they believe Russia influenced the 2016 presidential election, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.
Forty-four percent of the 2,000 voters polled Dec. 15 through Dec. 17 said they do not think Russia influenced November's election, while a quarter are still unsure.

Obama is an establishment Democrat with a personal (and IMO justified) dislike of Hillary. Thus, occasionally, he takes a small jab at her and her politburo.

I'm shocked that it's still a thing
listening to Thom Hartmann wondering whether the "hackers" who "hacked" Podesta's computer were working for "the Russian state" makes me think he's either playing a part or he's #$^&%ing dumb. In either case he's entertainment only, someone to listen to until I go "that's enough!" and turn him off.
But people like him or Rachel Maddow are dangerous. I wonder if they even consider how dangerous they are. Or are they blinded by their salaries? Consider, spouting untrue propaganda against a country that, if pushed too far, will destroy us and the world...that could be a bad thing to do.
Sometimes, as an exercise, I try to relax my mind and get into the thinking of someone who might believe this stuff. It's hard though!

I agree. The Russian people have been having drills
because of the troop buildup that has been happening for almost a year. It's just now being covered by the media because they had to build up the propaganda first.
As gj pointed out, too many people believe that Russia interfered with the election and hacked Vermont's electrical grid, even though that was debunked soon after it became news.

It's really horrifying to contemplate the fact that someone at SNL, even if it was for a cheap joke (in fact, especially if it was for a cheap joke), thought that it was a good idea to imply that Germany "taking on Russia" was a good thing. I'm not buying all the crap about Russia. I suppose this poll demonstrates that I have dem-exited although we don't register party in my state.
Considering all the meddling in the elections of other countries that the US has done, the continued hoopla over Russia is especially outrageous.

It looks like Democrats are going to be the Troglodytes this time. We might be at the threshold of the end of the Democratic Party, especially if Trump is at all successful in his issues.

---- but I have a very positive opinion of Vladimir Putin. I think he is a respectworthy Head of State, and deserves to be treated as such. I also like his foreign minister Lavrov quite a lot, as he seems to be a very intelligent, well-spoken, and charming fellow. I fail to understand why Obama, Kerry, Powers, Nuland, & Co find these men so hard to get along with. The rarely-mentioned fact that some 80% of Russian citizens fully and often enthusiastically support Putin is somehow passed over as being irrelevant.
This might be on account of the fact that I try to read transcriptions of what these Russian leaders actually say, rather than watch Wolf Blitzer or Bill Kristol tell me what they say. There is a rather large discrepancy between the two versions! A discrepancy of which most Americans are apparently unaware. Probably because they are too fucking lazy to even read anything for themselves. Easier to just watch the tv pundits, and form their opinions from that, I suppose. But I mean really people, how much longer is it gonna take before you stop thinking of CNN as being your source for the gospel truth?
To prepare for a war with Russia is not only unwarranted and unjustified, it is stark raving mad. A war over what?? - over whether Russia gets to keep control over Crimea? A province it has ruled since 1783, and which has always been essential to its naval power?? No way was that gonna happen, ever. To even suggest such a thing was highly provocative, and when Ukraine actually threatened to claim the province and its naval port, of course Russia had no choice but to defend it! What the fuck did Obama expect Russia to do - roll over and have its tummy scratched by NATO? And now because it didn't, they want to start a war over it! Unbelievable. Absurd.
