Corruption, reciprocity, and the influence of money

Bernie Sanders' message about corruption is a significant part of his campaign. He speaks forcefully about a system in which legislation and political favors are essentially bought by donations from large donors. He does not call out any individuals as such. There's a good reason for that: the kind of corruption Bernie is talking about isn't bribery.

Midnight Mulling - Susan Smokes (but you can't call her lazy)

Once upon time there were big television sets. Really big. Not the size of the screen, usually, but the chassis itself. The innards were tubes and capacitors and resistors and transformers. And the quality of the picture could be measured by the number of tubes and capacitors and resistors and transformers stuffed into the chassis. Not always. But usually.

My Back Pages - 1% Want To Steal Your Social Security, Obama Is Helping Them

I am slowly migrating the content which I created over at the Great Orange Satan and some other websites here to C99.

This article is interesting now because we are coming close to the last budget cycle of the Obama presidency, his last chance to arrange a "Grand Bargain" to ingratiate himself to the 1 percenters that will pay for his Presidential library and line his pockets in his Post-Presidential earning years.

General Musings on THOSE E-Mail Servers

So user On The Cusp asked for my riff as an IT pro and Hillary's servers. I started to answer, and suddenly had nearly a thousand words of comment before I realized "Oh hell, this is another entry, isn't it?"

For those so interested, here it is:

The startup I mentioned working for was a very strange concept where we would become a matchmaker for startups looking for angel investors. "garage.com: We startup startups". Yes, that really was the tagline.

Another Quickie for Tricia

No, not that kind of quickie. I have to work today, so can't stay long.

I tried to publish this, then lost it, then found it again, but then it ended up way down on the list. So I'm trying to follow Johnny's instructions for reposting. Technology. It often bamfoozles me.

But for those of you who haven't heard, Daily Kos' beloved Pootie Queen, triciawyse, passed away about a week ago from complications from pancreatitis. She was in her 40s.

Her funeral/memorial service began this morning at 10 AM, as did our memorial service over on DKos. Her family will be reading that diary again later.

The View from Here

Looking downstream the river forks. One fork carries on through the convention to a choice between Bernie Sanders and whoever the Reeps put up. The other hurtles toward a cataract. Most choose to avoid discomfort by internalizing the cataract and grope their way hand on the shoulder of the one before them to the palace of SheWhoMustbeObeyed. The rest go into free fall plunging into waters of unknown depth.

Goodbye Denial

Hello new day. It is the first day without that other site in a long time. Every time since 2006 that I had a browser open I have had a tab up to TOS. I lurked until 2009 when I decided I had something worth offering to the discussion. Well, no longer do I have anything to offer to a site now fully dedicated to all Hillary, all the time.
