Good Morning 99 percenters!
It is hard to believe that November is almost over. It seems like yesterday that I was getting ready to attend my high school reunion during the first weekend of November and now Thanksgiving is upon as.
This evening's music features New Orleans piano player Champion Jack Dupree. Enjoy!

I grew up just about two miles, as the crow flies, or as the child finds a path through what we called the Creek, from Lewis and Clark College. My older brother matriculated there, played basketball for them in the late 60s for awhile. One of my major life heroes, William Stafford, taught English there for many years while I was growing up.
So it has been a major blow to me to discover that this past weekend at least two hate crimes occurred on the campus in the span of a couple of hours.
Update: If you have any new site name suggestions, please add them in the comments. In a few days we will aggregate the suggested names and decide which we will use. Thanks for participating.
Finally the new Drupal upgrade to version 8 has been released, but I'm going to put off installing it until it is more stable, probably in a couple of months. Another reason to put it off for a while is the many modules (non-core programs) that we use for c99p will not be compatible until they are rewritten for v.8. Much of our site would cease to function without the updated modules.
Soon we will need to renew our server and domain name fees, so if we're going to do it now is the time to change the name of this site, as we've been talking about for months. Here are a few I've been bandying about and a few submitted by others.
There is a terrible birth defect, and it is known as encephalocele, and it denotes a person who is born with their brain entirely outside their head.
This defect was once very rare. But it is now Known and in fact Glaringly Apparent that virtually everyone involved in the current public discourse suffers from this malady. And that the intertubes is a veritable fucking game preserve for encephaloceliacs. No one else, really, need apply.
This evening's music features doo-wop, r&b and rock n' roll group, The Coasters. Enjoy!

I first wrote about Samantha Hulsey back in January, when she was attacked with a friend on a Muni bus by a man who stabbed her twice with a steak knife while calling Hulsey and her friend "faggots".
On November 15 a San Francisco couple, Dewayne Edward Kemp, 36, and Rebecca Louise Westover, 42, were arrested near Eighth and Mission for allegedly assaulting transgender resident Samantha Hulsey.
In court Friday afternoon, Kemp and Westover pleaded not guilty to the charges, contending that they were acting in self-defense when Westover threw a cup of hot coffee an Hulsey and her girlfriend, Daira Hopwood and Kemp punched Hulsey four times in the face while uttering transphobic comments.
