Sam news!

She is alive and well, although very stressed.
I will start filling out the adoption forms, making arrangements to fly her from Ogden to Houston in the next few days.
I did request that they do a thorough vet check to make sure she has no issues from possible dehydration and food deprivation.
I will update with videos the shelter is sending me tomorrow.

I thik I can get the forms filled out asap upon their arrival in my email box, and I am an old hand at scheduling flights. JtC and I will have new collar and leash, snacks, tp, and socks in hand.
I have a dog kennel already, so the 45 minute trip for HIA to the house will be easy peasy!

a year or so ago in Gulf Shores, AL. Big thing, a Lab print on it. I did handle it.

We take it where we can.
If they get the adoption docs to me
tomorrow, I can get Sam a flight to Houston Friday so we can all have a personal greet up this weekend.
I need to know what airport they use.
Friday would be perfect, since I close the office at 2pm, but can leave for the entire day because the courts rarely hold court on Fridays. I can do interviews by phone if something urgent comes up.

I rescued my first dog from a ditch
in Dayton, Texas. I was riding on the truck's tail gate while Dad was slowly driving down a dirt road to a cotton field. I yelled, jumped off, ran to the ditch and grabbed this female dog, white, long haired, female that looked like a small collie, if there was such a thing. Whitey. Wonderful dog.
I was 4. I am now 73. Still doing it.
Mom and Dad always let me get away with it. It's their fault!

I have a deep love for our domestic companions, and have always done m best to do right by them. Thank you for your vigilance, I am sure Sam will be, and Snoopy would be, eternally grateful that they are being rescued to a known and good home.

I wanted anyone on the site to raise their hand to adopt her, as I am not a dawg hog. Only fair to see if anyone else felt they needed to have her for whatever reasons.
The head of the shelter will have a video taken today, and I will post it upon arrival.
Flight time from SLC to Houston is 3 hours. Sam can handle that.
I am sure Sam can handle us, too. We are absolute suckers for dogs.

Terrific news, otc!! I feel like a regular on here, and
I'm really not. I just visit for the photos and tunes.
Eagle, Kipp, and I are crossing paws (they're my Beagles), and fingers that all goes well for Sam and you. Snoopy's death really hit me hard. 
I'm agnostic but somehow I sense snoopydawg is smiling. Will be checking back for updates. A happy Rec'd!!

With all the love dogs possess, they have a natural way to attach themselves, even after grief. I'm sure it will be even more rewarding than you can imagine. Ernie, my most beloved dog came to me unexpectedly at 8 years old because her 'owner' was moving to a country that required a 6 month quarantine, which she could not bear to put her through. She was my constant companion for the next 10 years, and offered love and entertainment beyond compare.
I was reluctant about Sam
because I am 73. She is 2. Well, I just can't die until I am 90, because.

I will have to jump thru hoops
for an airline to get her from there to here. The shelter has to give me some instructions on the weight of the dog and the kennel, then I have to make sure of the airline restrictions, then call the airport in Houston to get instructions on how the hell to pick her us from the airport. Not easy, not cheap, and ya know what? I DON'T GIVE A SHIT! Tracy will NEVER be rolling in her grave about Sam. I have been rescuing dogs since I was 4 yrs old. I GOT THIS.
