The Knucklehead effect

The Chicago City Council's Committee on Human Relations advanced an ordinance to the City Council Floor which will close a loophole in the city's human rights code which could make it difficult for transgender people to access public washrooms.

Under examination was the requirement that people be able to show a government-issued identification card that indicates that their gender matches that indicated for the washroom.

I so wanted to throw my remote control at the television today.

This is just a rant with no links. I'm sorry.

So I'm listening to Thom Hartmann's radio show on TuneIn app on my phone between noon and 1 p.m. EDST today. Thom devoted the first hour of allowing callers to call in and thank Bernie Sanders. Each caller was supposed to call with a quick thank you to Bernie, each caller was identified by area code, and they could give their name and location if they wanted to.

the meaning of life?

Could it be some simple and crappy truth that seems too malicious to actually be? Something like: You’ll never get anywhere “working your way up” or “playing by the rules” because there are too many weak and sniveling fake-it-til-you-make-it people around who will stand in your way and hold you back. The only way is to walk over all of them and go straight to the top, then cut your own deal. Otherwise, you struggle with the rest.

Don't start a Party. Go big. Start a Coalition.

A coalition could have much greater power, almost immediately, than a new Party in a rigged and corrupt political system. Use the right tool and use it well.

A coalition needs a strong central vision or ultimate vision. For example, "a coalition for a better life" or for "stronger citizens" or a "people's coalition." Using its central vision as a sort of test or moral compass, a coalition could throw any election or end the political career of any candidate.

Every Revolution Needs a Convention Of, By & For the People (with video)

I don't know the best way to continue what the Occupy Movement and Black Lives Matter and Bernie helped ignite, a true people's movement: a/k/a a People's Revolution. Do we work to change the Democrats from within or become an outside force for change? I just know one thing. We can't stop.

Open Planning Conference (Voting Segment)

Edit: I will let this set as is until Friday morning (CDT) as I think through the wording for the next segment. I need to work out the details of producing the ordered list for discussion given the "flatness" (statistically speaking) of the voting pattern. I also want to address a few things mentioned in the comments. So, expect this to go off the Front Page at any time in the next 12 hours or so

Another Reason Why Unity Won't Happen

Perhaps it's been remarked on elsewhere, but this "Democratic" primary was different in a number of ways, particularly when it comes to how the campaigns went about their messaging.

While Bernie was largely focused on issues and class-based politics, Clinton was vague at best on most issues and relied on identity politics as her primary resource for persuasion.

SEEKING RELIABLE AND THOUGHTFUL PRIMARY SOURCES: MEDIA, ONLINE, TWITTER ETC?

UPDATE I want to thank all the posters for many very interesting suggestions in the responses. I will try them out. And we should let each other know when we discover the sort of reporting, journalism and opinion that is worth reading.
