It's almost summer, so ICE out!
Recently New Mexico joined 10 states in banning local and state agencies from joining agreements with the federal government which let the feds use local agencies. Basically local law enforcement agencies cannot be deputized to participate in the federal anti-immigration crap, like ICE.
Washington State, where I live, has already done some things to stop cooperation with ICE, including banning law enforcement from wearing face masks to hide their identities. The state may soon be passing a law to ban ICE from raiding schools, hospitals, day cares, etc without a judicial warrant or court order. New Jersey has done some of the same stuff, California has done it. I wonder what happens when more state do the same thing?

I hadn't realized it, but 40 states have legalized medical marijuana for pain relief and symptom management. And recently, the Feds reclassified marijuana from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule III drug. This means those using marijuana for medical purposes will not be harassed and penalized.
As the article says:
Two dozen states plus Washington, D.C., have authorized adult recreational use of marijuana, 40 have medical marijuana systems, and eight others allow low-THC cannabis or CBD oil for medical use. Only Idaho and Kansas ban marijuana outright.
24 states have made marijuana legal for recreational use. Go states! Me, I don't smoke, but when I've had really bad joint pain, for example when I fell on my side and face in the field a few months ago, I used THC to lessen the pain. And it does! I'm glad I'm in a state that allows medical and recreational use.

Hope everyone is having a decent day. I've had a super stressful, busy, happy at times, insane week. Saw my brother for the first time in seven years. It was good. The stuff with dealing with my Mom and sister, trying to get my Mom to agree to start thinking about moving to an old folks home and getting my sister into a home for autistics? Not so good. But has to be done!
Still, I got some flowers planted yesterday, and some lettuce and it was sunny today. So life is moving along just fine! What's up with you?

Glad to hear states and businesses are fighting back.
We are a recreational use state tho the distribution locations
are heavily restricted. Fortunately Massachusetts is right next door
and they are more liberal, so availability is close by.

Thanx Q for that Mark Twain story. Reminded me of Steven Kinzer's book, The True Flag, about Twain and the Anti-imperialist League. Twain was truly great. Funny how I never learned about his political side in school.

I have a zoom mediation starting in a few minutes, but wanted to at least make a quick comment before work commences. ICE is way beyond legal and effective immigration control. Marijuana, a harmless plant, is medically useful, but is an effective pain killer Big Pharma can't make a cent from dispensing. You can use it in Texas for medical purposes, but you would have to give up your guns and hunting licenses if you have a prescription. Homes for autistics? How practical and humane and caring is that?

Good morning Sima. Nothing much going on here. It is
trash pickup day in the immediate area, so some traffic hassles, but not too much traffic here on the side streets anyway. Wound up with 3 large fillets of sole free yesterday, so made fish tacos and put off planned meal until today. That is the only non-routne activity on the agenda for today, so busywork. Maybe also start some seeds, overnight temps in the low fifties lately, so should be good to plant stuff.

Big experiment tonight will be using 1-burner propane stove, outdoors, to cook pappardelle, so I will try to cook the additions and gorgonzola cream sauce in a heavy pan on the grill. Said pan was allegedly designed for such a purpose, so now I get to see how well it works,

About six years ago I stopped in at my local Starbucks a few times. They usually had free containers of used coffee grounds which they were offering for gardeners. Am not a coffee drinker and haven’t been there lately so don’t know whether they still do that.

The 3 page report file is embedded at the USNI link above. One of the comments points out that a Chinook loss and (two?) littlebirds are missing from the tally. I recall hearing one analysis some time ago that concluded there may have only been two lost during the disastrous confrontation on the makeshift runway in the desert.

I've had a compost container near my former
garage door for 11 years now. It was courtesy of the City (O-ville where I live). You can compost both new and used coffee and tea. I've been composting pretty much my whole adult life.
We, too, have med pot here in the Sandbar Peninsula State. Hubster has a card. Yes, you can still have firearms. This is Floridumb. It's so ridiculous here you can have an open carry in a bar. That gator is a baby, soryang. You ought to see the big ones which I'm sure your and your family have. We're talking 12-14'+. As far as the rest of the current events go, ole tRumpy the Maggot Brain is just having himself a field day ripping us off. He's definitely dying of something. I just wish Nature would step on the gas, and finish the job! Anywho, hope everyone is staying cool and safe. Rec'd!!
