What I learned on NPR today

I caught the Diane Rehm show while in the car running errands. The segment to which I listened seemed to be all about the Trump campaign and his relative lack of SuperPac money and organization compared to the Clinton campaign. I heard next to nothing about any policy differences. All I heard was how critically important big money donors are in this election. Here's specifically what I learned from NPR's "expert" panel today:

An obvious oxymoron

A hypothetical Clinton/Sanders coalition is politically self-contradictory, you might as well have 'bipartisan cooperation', 'reality TV, 'hot snow' or 'dry water'.

If what is she trying to do, get elected by marketing herself as a “corporate progressive”, it will go nowhere, When your primary allegiance is to corporations, these artificial economic constructs, it will not be the same thing as putting real people before profits.

The overall dimensions of the political landscape and the challenges we face

Bernie spoke to his legion of followers last week, telling them he is committed to the ambitious goal of reforming the Democratic Party. It was a clear signal that he is not at this time entertaining any thoughts of simply walking away from it in disgust.

This, of course, is not likely to cheer a good many of his supporters who have come to view the Democratic Party's centrist-dominated establishment with revulsion. And who can blame them?

But there are a number of reasons why I believe Bernie is right to focus The Revolution's efforts on an attempt to reform the Democratic Party and "drive the money-changers from the temple" (if you'll forgive the analogy).

Do you get back up?

One time in grade school a bully beat me up, again. I shouldn''t say one time, it happened a lot. I got beat up by kids who were shorter than me.

Eventually the message of "hit him back" got through to me. So I did. I punched Bruce right in the face, and knocked him literally off the ground and on his ass. 4th grade.
