OT WE 20 MAY 26 ~ Iroquois Confederacy

The five tribes comprising the Iroquois Nation are the Mohawks, Oneidas, Onandagas, Cayugas and
Senecas. Together they established the oldest living democracy on earth. This is a true representative democracy. Located in the present day area of the Northeast US, they were established somewhere
around the 10th century.

The visiting Iroquois chiefs were formally invited into the meeting hall of the Continental Congress in
1776 to present to the attending colonists their system of governance. Statesmen such as
Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson borrowed some of their ideas in the drafting of the Declaration
of Independence. Unfortunately, they didn't fully incorporate all of the tenants described.
(in part)
"If any man or any nation outside the Five Nations shall obey the laws of the Great Peace and make known their disposition to the Lords of the Confederacy, they may trace the Roots to the Tree and if their minds are clean and they are obedient and promise to obey the wishes of the Confederate Council, they shall be welcomed to take shelter beneath the Tree of the Long Leaves."

More from The Ratical
Good morning. Something of a more contemporary nature.
"The people of the Six Nations, also known by the French term, Iroquois Confederacy, call themselves the Haudenosaunee (ho dee noe sho nee) or People of the Longhouse."
"Today's post-industrial world needs stories to live and be nourished by more than ever before. "News", parading as objective reportage, is little more than morbid fascination entertainment. Such entertainment increases the deep-rooted feeling of "living on the Titanic" felt most keenly amongst young people who sense their own birthright of a long and full life has been stolen from them."
~
"The story of the Haudenosaunee contains much that can inspire and engage all of us to reach down inside ourselves and re-connect with an ageless wisdom of sustainable human activity and participation in the manifestation of the good mind."

A simple question!...... What will the supposed leaders of the
free world have to say about this???
A longer version of the same event.

Good morning Cap'n Q. So far it seems tha we haven't invaded
anybody new nor have we resumed bombing Iran. A quiet day, in a swnse. Tonight is pappardelle with sausage and spinach in a gorgonzola cream sauce. I awoke this morning to the realization that I forgot to get any gorgonzola the other day, so I must off to procure some. A nice thing about this area is that there are at least six places to get some sithin a two mile radius or so. Maybe I should get some TimTams to go with it.
You never really hear much during the average lifetime about the Iriquois Confederacy because it is semi-crucial to the US History narrative that the injuns be thought of as primitive savages.
be well and have a good one
