Album of the Week 9-28-24
Afternoon folks!
This week we have some great acoustic blues for you. Starting out we've got a compilation of delta slide guitar wizard Tampa Red's 78's from the 20's and 30's. Following that is a nice album of Piedmont Blues from John Jackson. After that, we go electric with Beaumont, Texas' Phillip Walker followed by an early (1969) Chambers brothers album. Then it's on to blues-rock with a live album from Canned Heat which may have a cut that is not available in the U.S. - if you have a vpn, you can probably get it. After that, we've got some straight rock from an EP I found laying around in my old 45's from Be Bop Deluxe, and we finish off with an album from Redbone which features their big hit. You'll probably recognize the hit when you hear it, though you might not remember the title or the band.
Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!
Here 'tis:
Tampa Red ~ Bottleneck Guitar (1928 - 1937)
John Jackson ~ Vol. 2: More Blues And Country Dance Tunes From Virginia
Phillip Walker ~ Someday You'll Have These Blues
The Chambers Brothers ~ Feelin' The Blues
Canned Heat ~ Live At Topanga Corral

If you have the time or inclination, check out the early reggae playlist I posted in Friday Photography.
So much to enjoy
Philip Walker!!!
Redbone Wovoka, who I also enjoyed very much, reminds me at times of Sixto Rodriguez.
Hi, Janis, what is there to enjoy, when you
have no heat, no hot water and an asshole of a Betreuer for m my helpglessly sick sister, who shut oll the doors to my sisteris houwse ... exshanges sll door locks regularly
oh I m soo pissed and as helpless ...
Fuci it, I mean fuck the Betreuer.
What is a Betreuer in English
Hi mimi
I know Betreuer as Caregiver. The word treu implies trusty and true. Interesting that it is also somewhat close to the English word Betray. In your experience it sounds like the trust is missing.

Listen to any Damien Rice on youtube, you won't be disappointed. The deeply felt and genuine expressions in his music and lyrics bring Leonard to mind.
