Be Bop Deluxe

Album of the Week 12-23-23

Afternoon folks!

We've got some Chicago blues this week from Son Seals, followed by some r&b from Robert Ward & The Ohio Untouchables (the Untouchables later became the Ohio Players), after that we've got an album from the Neville Brothers. In the blues-rock vein, there's albums from JJ Cale and The Climax Blues Band. Then for a bit of diversity we've got a country album from Leon Russell, some art rock from Be Bop Deluxe and we finish up with some acoustic folk-blues from The Holy Modal Rounders.

Enjoy and have a great weekend/holiday!

Album of the Week - 5-6-23

This week we've got a couple of great blues albums from Albert Collins and Lonesome Sundown. In the blues-rock vein, we've got albums by Bonnie Raitt, Santana and Steppenwolf. There's a fabulous acoustic guitar album from Norman Blake and albums by Richard Thompson and Be Bop Deluxe.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 4-29-23

Afternoon folks!

I cleaned up some really cool records this week. In the blues vein there's an early 60's Freddy King compilation that turned out quite well and a direct to disk recording of soul/blues singer Howard Tate in his later-life comeback period not to mention Otis Redding's performance at Monterey Pop festival. We've got a mess of blues-rock with albums from Roy Buchanan (a later period album), a double-live album from the J. Geils Band and Rita Coolidge's first album.

After that, we've got a fine double live bluegrass album from the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band. We finish up with a rock album from Be Bop Deluxe, a band that didn't get the attention that their talent deserved here in the states - check it out!

Have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 1-21-23

Afternoon folks!

We've got some serious blues this week with Harmonica George Smith doing a tribute album to Little Walter and an album by Lightnin' Hopkins playing both guitar and some piano too. There are albums by soul artist Al Green and New Orleans r&b musician Chris Kenner. There's some blues-rock with the Yardbirds and Omar & The Howlers. This week we've got a bunch of prog-rock with Be Bop Deluxe and Curved Air and a truly odd album probably in the avante-garde category with French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 12-17-22

Afternoon folks!

Another week, another batch of albums for you guys. There's a compilation of Nappy Brown's earlier days doing r&b tunes, piano player Mose Allison has a live album and another piano player, Marcia Ball follows with a studio album. We've got a late 60's Butterfield Blues Band album and a Ten Years After album from later in their career - kind of a departure from their earlier albums. There's two albums by Richard Thompson and an album by prog-rockers Be Bop Deluxe (which the gods of copyright seem to have chosen to block a goodly chunk of).

Enjoy!
