Album of the Week - 4-9-22

Afternoon folks!

I've got a bunch of albums for you this week. Blues albums from Buddy Guy, Big Mama Thornton and Albert Collins and some blues-rock from Blues Image, Captain Beefheart and a British band, Vinegar Joe.

I will have to upload the last track of Buddy Guy's album Saturday night, since Youtube thinks I should wait 24 hours before uploading it.

Enjoy!

Albert Collins - Ice Pickin'

Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - The Legendary A&M Sessions

Vinegar Joe - Vinegar Joe

Big Mama Thornton - Stronger Than Dirt

Blues Image - Blues Image

Buddy Guy - I Left My Blues In San Francisco

has finally found a new location in Minneapolis, bringing it a step closer to being able to reopen.

The bookstore, known as “Uncle Hugo’s / Uncle Edgar’s,” enjoyed cult status among aficionados but was totally destroyed through arson in 2020.

Hey Joe, great sounds man! Albert Collins and Buddy Guy are two of my very favorite players. But hardly anyone knows who Mike Pinera is. He was a great player. The pop 45 single hit the band had was nothing like most of their work. Like Venus by Shocking Blue. Same thing. I got the Iron Butterfly album Metamorphosis right when it came out (have the vinyl still), so was into Pinera early on. The guitars on the album are great, and I could hardly believe at the same time Ride Captain was being played to death on the radio.

Thanks for the great sounds!

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

@dystopian

collins and guy are both great guitarists with really interesting and unique styles.

pinera really managed to fly beneath the radar for most folks despite his talent. that's really too bad, had one of his projects really caught on, he had the talent to have a much more prosperous career.

have a good one!
