Buddy Guy

Album of the Week 2-21-26

Afternoon folks!

Well here's another batch of blues for you guys. Starting off we've got a compilation album of some of Chicago blues guitarist Buddy Guy's Chess recordings, great stuff, followed by a live recording of Buddy and his frequent partner, harmonica player Junior Wells - the album is about bootleg quality but worth a listen if Chicago blues is one of your things. Following those albums is one from Texas soul-blues singer Robert Ealey and then it's on to early Excello swamp-pop label recordings from harmonica player Jerry McCain. Some of the Jerry McCain videos may be missing because some awful German record company has decided that it would like to deny Americans their musical heritage of 60 year old recordings. After that there's a modern zydeco album from Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas. Finishing us off is a live album from the Grateful Dead's guitarist Bob Weir and one of his side projects, Kingfish.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!

Album of the Week 12-20-25

Afternoon folks!

There's some awesome blues music here this week. Starting off is Big Mama Thornton with the Muddy Waters Blues Band in 1966, a really great album, followed by Junior Wells a few years later accompanied by Buddy Guy, Otis Spann and a bunch of other Chicago blues luminaries. After that is an EP that I picked up years ago from a cutout bin of some of Jimmy McCracklin's early hits on Chess records. Following that is James Harman, a fine harmonica player and we finish up with some bluegrass with Peter Rowan - great stuff!

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 9-9-23

Afternoon folks!

I've got a couple of live blues albums for you this week, one from BB King and one (a UK import) from Albert Collins and there's a Buddy Guy album to keep you hummin' for the rest of the weekend. Following that there's a big bunch of blues rock, albums by Rory Gallagher, Harvey Mandel (guitarist for Canned Heat), slide wizard David Lindley and a live album from Mountain. Finishing it all off is an album from Spirit.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 9-10-22

Afternoon folks!

Well, there's a bunch of great stuff this week. There are blues albums by Buddy Guy & Jr. Wells, The Holmes Brothers and Lightnin' Hopkins. There's some blues rock with Rory Gallagher and The Blasters - and this week there's some doo-wop with Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers. Woohoo!

Have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 8-6-22

Afternoon folks!

I've got some great blues for you. There's a live album from Buddy Guy & Jr. Wells and a nice 60's compilation from BB King. There's some blues rock from some of the usual suspects, Rory Gallagher and Ten Years After - I know that I've been posting a lot of their stuff, but I'm just working my way through the box that they were in. For a little variety, there's a live Flying Burrito Brothers album and some cool old jazz-blues with Leon Redbone.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 4-9-22

Afternoon folks!

I've got a bunch of albums for you this week. Blues albums from Buddy Guy, Big Mama Thornton and Albert Collins and some blues-rock from Blues Image, Captain Beefheart and a British band, Vinegar Joe.

I will have to upload the last track of Buddy Guy's album Saturday night, since Youtube thinks I should wait 24 hours before uploading it.

Enjoy!
