Well, we'll see if Trump backs up his talk, but he says he would debate Bernie for charity BEFORE the California Primary:
Kimmel asked Trump if he'd be willing to debate Sanders, given that Hillary Clinton had turned her primary opponent down for a California debate. Trump declared he would -- as long as the proceeds go to charity.
As he accepted the hypothetical debate, Trump asked, perhaps jokingly, how much Sanders would be willing to pay him -- for charity -- then conceded that it would be fine if a network were willing to put up the money. Trump also said he has never met Sanders.

Veterans need things, but there's also pre-K thru college. I'd go for half to the children for pre-K supplies (the college tuition will come out of a surcharge to Wall Street trading after Bernie is president if he gets a sensible Congress to work with), half to veterans.
Of course, I don't know how much money they'd raise, if they're going to charge a set fee, or if they're going to ask for "whatever you can afford" from people. If they are lucky, there might be millions raised and other groups could be added as the recipients.
They'll have to make it a "forum" format or DWS will ding Bernie for an unsanctioned "debate" and bar him from being the Democratic nominee. Or, at least she would try. It would only deepen the "Bernie or Bust!!!" resolve....

Bernie had better be careful accepting as dws will bar him from any future dnc sponsored debates.
OTOH, I have kinda mixed feelings about it. Upfront it seems like a good way for Bernie to get some airtime. But is rolling around in feces with trump a good way to do it? And is this going to help clinton by keeping her off the hot seat and distracting from all her other issues? Of course trump will spend most of the debate bashing clinton so the dnc and msm will spend days talking about Bernie teaming up with trump. Just some other possible outcomes.

If I were Bernie I would attempt to establish some guidelines like policy discussion only and to also make clear that he will not participate in any personal bashing of HRC. He did a good job with the IG report by saying it speaks for itself. He could summarize if necessary that it clarifies that her server was NOT "permitted", she did not comply with Federal record keeping guidelines, and she did not co-operate with the review despite saying previously she would talk with anyone at any time and be as transparent as possible.

Bernie needs a blowout win in California. Not in pre-election polls, not in exit polling, but in the official count. And that doesn't look likely. But, who knows. If this debataganza happens, it could truly make a difference.
He's got almost 2 weeks left to make his case out there.
One point he needs to drive home: For the first time in years, California's primary matters -- but HRC is trying to take that away, by claiming the nomination ahead of schedule. Californians have a chance to surprise the country and the world, but only if they get up and vote.
Another is that a whole lot of Democratic votes were cast back before people got a good look at the two candidates.
Another is that HRC tried to "lock up" the nomination before the first ballot was cast, by claiming the superdelegates -- who are unpledged and can change their minds tomorrow.
As with all of the other polls, the remaining CA surveys will be fraught with the peril of the likely-voter model. The primary key to a big showing for Sanders is for him to persuade people that there's a reason to get up and go vote.
A secondary key may be getting crossover votes from Trump supporters and other Republicans. Significantly, the other big race, the Senate primary, is only pseudo-partisan, and has a gazillion candidates.
