Thanksgiving
Another Thursday, another Thanksgiving! Yay!
I hope everyone is having a great holiday, with good food, family and friends (if one desires), and loved ones. I would like for all of us who have been ill from whatever cause to have a wonderful day and, I dunno, maybe the powers above (and/or below) would let everyone get better? That would rock!!

Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner from here.
So, let us know about your Thanksgiving and enjoy the day and weekend and everything else you can!
Here's the open thread, post whatever you are learning, doing, reading, interested in...

Happy Thanksgiving!
We are having a very small celebration here, me, hubby and Nikko. Ohh, and the cat, Ashe, and the goats and chickens :). Will be relaxing with some good food; roast beef and all the fixings!
Hope you all are having a great day! Let us know what's up!

Thanksgiving Blues In Louisville.
My wife is away in NYC supporting her older sis's recovery from heart surgeries. So it's just me and our Shetland Sheepdog this Turkey Day. Martha will be flying home to Louisville next Tuesday.
I won't be eating Thanksgiving dinner alone. A neighbor invited me to join him and his daughter. Spartan Jim [big Michigan State fan] Although he hates Trump, he can't break away from Republican tribal doctrine. Some we somehow continue to be friends. We often sit on the front porch and talk.
Jim enjoys the blues music show that I host on our local community supported radio station.

You can listen to the John Edward Prine episode. Check it out. If you enjoy it, I'll notify you each time a new show drops. Just message me with your email address.

allowing a stranger in the kitchen?
Ah well. Is what it is.
Good luck.

My neighbors are...
or were, big Trumpsters. Trump signs all over the property and so on. They aren't so much anymore. They are good people, just have/had weird beliefs. Thanks for the link to your show. I am going to be listening to it later on

Thanksgiving
I am thankful for my good health and circle of friends. Am not a fan of turkey so my sister and I are in Zion National Park where she rents a bike and I have my pedal assist and we will ride up the canyon enjoying the gorgeous sights. We have a picnic lunch of small bites we will enjoy once we reach the lodge and then ride back down. The canyon road is closed to everyone except shuttles and people that are staying in the lodge so not much traffic. Heading home after Thanksgiving and will have enjoyed our non traditional Thanksgiving.
Life is what you make it, so make it something worthwhile.
This ain't no dress rehearsal!
Sounds like a fun way to celebrate

Have a few guests coming in at 1:00.
Most of the prep is done. Just re-heats.
Would rather ride my bike. Kinda decent day.
Cheers.

That sounds like a good holiday...
I too am not a fan of turkey, so we are having roast beef. Being in Zion National Park rocks. I love it when I get to visit there. Enjoy your trip there!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We're at home to celebrate this year. Already smoked the turkey and and a pork butt. So today is an easy peasy meal. Afterward we'll freeze some of the left overs to eat later.
There's always something, and today it is blowing leaves off the roof. Most of them have fallen, so now is the time. Yesterday we hung out around the campfire and enjoyed the end of fall.
It is chilly this morning, but the sun is out and the house heats itself on a day like today. Of course at night propane takes over the job. Radiant hydronic floor heat is so pleasant. It was worth all the work and effort.
So I hope you all have a lovely holiday and enjoy your day with family or friends. Thanks for the OT!

Yeah, radiant floor heat is good
.
especially for a large open area.
I used that when building the kitchen
space (20' x 30') , set it at 60 degrees
and forget it (except for warm feet).
Enjoy your feast. Smoker sounds good.

Just got our gutters cleaned of leaves...
I have to do the garden walkways. Hubby has already done the lawn but, there are a few more leaves to fall, so I'm waiting.
We've had some chilly days, but haven't gone below 32 yet. Our house has a lot of south facing windows, a small roof and an attached glass greenhouse. We do stay warm during the day, but not at night. We use a woodstove. I am dreaming of getting solar panels on our house soon... Heh. The radiant heating sounds nice. If we had the foundation *dream*. Have a great holiday weekend!

Good morning, sima, et al!
I am thankful for a day off work. And that Dear One's MRI showed his cancer tumor had decreased in size more than 50% after 11 weeks of chemo. And that meal prep follows our Thursday tradition of having beef tacos for dinner. Come Saturday, we will have a roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc..., and extend the holiday frame of mind for the weekend.
I am thankful that the DC shooter and 2 national guards are all alive. It is easier to learn the truth if the shooter and victims can testify.
I am thankful for this site and the gathering of friends here.
I say "thanks for the OT" with sincerity, chica!

What a good MRI result!
Yay! I hope the next one shows the tumor is GONE! *fingers crossed*
Beef tacos for Thursday dinner sound fine. I may use our left over roast beef and make enchilada soup, or chili or whatever. Yum.
I hope the guards recover from the shooting. The shooter can recover or not, I guess. He can testify as to why, maybe? Ahh well. Have a great weekend and thanks to you and JTC for this site!

@on the cusp Great news about JtC, otc
Great news about JtC, otc!!!! My weekly Friday check-in, LOL. Turkey Day was quiet here. Been there, done that with all the big family gatherings. We used to host an "Orphan" Thanksgiving. Hubster would throw a yuge turkey on the grill. We would invite people we knew who couldn't or didn't have families to gather with. They were potluck and everyone contributed food and drinks. It was the actual spirit of Thanksgiving. They were a big success, and a much younger (!) me was worn out afterwards. Loved doing it though.

Happy Thanksgiving
It's 65 and partly cloudy here at mid morning. The mercury is supposed to hit 81 this afternoon. Sunny sky's and mid to low 70s heading into next week.
For the first time in a long time, no friends or family this year. No bird for dinner this year either. Since it's just me, I'm thinking I'll do something Mexican.

Mexican works for us, sp!
My pinto beans are already soaking.
We are gonna drive to the town just east of us, maybe see an eagle on the way. Or hawk.
We went yesterday, and the drive home was incredible due to following a 1-ton Ford dually. The man drove fast, then slow, then ran almost off the road into the ditch several times, ran through a stop sign, turned without signalling, then headed off into a curve out of our sight driving in the middle of the road. This was at 3 pm. , sort of early for drunk driving, but just right for other drugs. If it had been safe to get close enough to get his tag, I would have called the cops.
I will settle for bird excitement, friend!

Bleh...
sounds like the person driving the truck was on drugs. Or maybe obsessed with a phone? I dunno. Suckage.
Nikko has been chasing a sharp shinned hawk around the farm. The hawk comes for the chickens, and Nikko has learned, as Jaska did, to protect the chickens. It's very satisfying to watch him do and learn his 'chores'
.

Mexican sounds good!
I kinda of enjoy being less 'crowded' at Thanksgiving with no family but hubby and so on. I guess that's bad of me, but it makes cleaning the kitchen easier, or something like that
