Happy Friday everyone. Hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.
For anybody who read the thread title and expected to see photos of well endowed women I'm sorry to disappoint you. In this case stacked refers to stacking multiple frames of the same image shot at different focus points to increase the depth of field. Depth of field (DOF) is how much of the subject is in focus. The two main factors that determine DOF are the aperture setting of the lens and distance between the camera and the subject. The larger the aperture the the smaller the DOF and the smaller the aperture the larger the DOF. With distance, the closer to the subject the smaller the DOF, the farther from the subject the larger the DOF.

yeah man, Greg Lake's voice is the gods singing. When I saw the Brain Salad Surgery tour (two separate shows) as much as Keith and Carl blew me away, Greg's voice was equally stellar and mind-blowing.

I haven’t played with depth of field in some time
It’s something I’d like to get back to doing.
My big camera batteries need replacing since they won’t hold a charge for long anymore.

Great flower pic SP. Regretfully I must disagree with the Thistle ID though. The stacked whorls are quite unlike Thistles which have terminal flowers. I think that is a Beebalm, such as Lemon Beebalm (aka Purple Horsemint) or some similar type. There are several species.

I spent a good part of last night sitting alert in bed praying for the rain to pass and leave us be. I felt a little like a skipper not wanting to abandon ship. Today I am more than thankful for staying stable.
I took this photo in response to your Hibiscus work. It coordinated with what you presented and the clearing of the rain here.

Since it was raining and outdoor photography was out for the day, I picked up a bouquet of flowers yesterday while I was out running errands so I would have something to shoot.

Beautiful photo Janis. Is that Rosemary below the Hibiscus? We used to make teas with the flowers, but only a little at a time. There was one commercially available red flower hibiscus tea, I think it was by Celestial Seasonings, called Red Zinger, and that was an understatement.

good question on the source of the zing in Red Zinger J, I presumed it was the hibiscus but don't know. And thanks, it was Seasons as you say, not seasonings as I slopped... gettin' old here. Maybe I need a Red Zinger! With some Screaming Yellow Zonkers.

After sleeping on it... the zing was the hibiscus. It takes a while for me to get through the cobwebs back to the mid-late 70's... And some of that is kinda fuzzy ...
But, I remembered we used to buy the bags of just the hibiscus flowers to judiciously add to other types of herb teas we made. They were that lemony sharp puckering zing. We had a shelf with not kidding a hundred bags of herbs for teas. One calendula with chamomile, coming up... Was a dollar or two for an ounce or two of most herbs. And you should have seen the smokin' herbs!

Auckland was hit pretty hard by the cyclone. This was on top of the more extensive damage caused by record rainfall two weeks earlier. The Hawke's Bay, one of NZ’s largest horticultural areas was hit the hardest by the cyclone, with a shocking amount of flooding. Over 1200 acres of grapes and other horticultural products were destroyed along with almost a 1000 homes and buildings.
The NZ government has offered a $300 million support package for all of NZ after the record rain and cyclone. In comparison, the government spent 1.4 billion on the vaccine programme. It makes one wonder, what good is a vaccine if you’re homeless or have drowned ... or if that money was dedicated to improving climate change conditions.

Which I know comes with the territory in the new digital processing world. It's a whole 'nother world. Compared to most nature photography whence everything is 'on the move', I imagine a stable subject is nice to work with. Awesome shots!

While it does take time
to shoot and edit all the frames, it doesn't feel like work. Being able to batch process all the frames at the same time for each final image does make things quicker and easier.

These are the photographic polar opposite of SP's great photos. They were taken through a 50 year old grayed window, and a window screen, so barely usable docushots. Since it was a new yard beastie, had to take what I could get. We had one in our other yard here, over a decade ago. They are common in south and west Texas, but scarce up here in the hills on the Edwards Plateau until you get at the west end of it.
Properly called Collared Peccary, but mostly called Javelina.
It was behind trees out at the mulch pile.
What I heard was nom nom mulch good, more mulch, nom nom...

Come on! Vegan isn’t that bad.
If a meat and potatoes man with a fondness for three microwaved hotdogs on white bread for lunch washed down with a can of Pepsi can transition to 10+ years of near perfect compliance with vegan protocols (I still eat honey) can make the transition, surely you won’t need bugs on the menu to force the issue.
It does help, however, to have an excellent cook in the household.

Great to hear vegan is working for you. I would do vegan, unfortunately my body doesn't deal well with a high carb diet. I do so much better on a keto diet.
