I’ve been learning a lot about geothermal energy of late and some of the new closed loop power generation systems like Eavor and GreenFire are ideal for some of their needs. 2MW of black start 24/7 power that can last decades (if not centuries) for $10-20M is very attractive.
I also recommend Gretchen Bakke’s The Grid for anyone interested in how our electrical system got to where it is. Well written, witty and very informative.

Thanks for posting. We must have posted at the same time. I'm glad you did. I appreciate knowing that someone will cover at times. I can hang-out for a little while, and then check back later.
Are the houses that will benefit from the solar already existing ones on the navy land?

We are of one mind
and too much has not been said
about all the quiet afternoons
childhood offered us,
lit gray like a cat, or blue,
and cursed with an early moon.
When father wore an apron
or crept like a bear, we screamed.
Nothing is so gone.
Where is his record player
or the channel that forked
a distant year toward us,
kind, slow magnet?
There was a song we shared
without your listening,
you widowed soul crawling away on your elbows.
I sing it to my child, with a full hand I
flick its rapeseeds everywhere,
clear, and slow,
with all the sincerity its author indeed felt
in his ten-gallon hat
and his thin, whisky-soaked shirt.

They are pretty sexy, with stamens, and pistils, and anthers, all that pollination...
There is a scene in Pink Floyds 'The Wall' where the animation is two flowers going back and forth in a love dance, before one plunges into the other, that is fantastically erotic.
Animated. Flowers.

especially live in person. I saw them do Echoes as an encore for 25 minutes in L.A. in 1975. After watching them do some Wish You Were Here, and all of Dark Side of the Moon. There may have been substances involved. I also saw the Wall tour about 1980 maybe, which was only 5 nights or so each in LA and NYC in the U.S. I think, the setup was too elaborate to move around. Original band. Life changing events.

GREAT photo Janis! I think might be a distinction between cocoon and chrysalis? My take is that a cocoon is spun with silk and is generally what a moth makes. A chrysalis is a hard shell affair, and what most butterflies make. Probably both could be correctly called pupa. Yours looks like a Monarch chrysalis to me. Sorry for the semantics. It is a great pic!

Will it be big enough for all of us? My first Q was the same as QMS, what material? Looks great. I had one of those large fully rigged 'Ironsides', the Constitution I was working on, a two footer, plastic, was up to the masts, and it got put in storage, and then stolen, never to be seen again. I wasn't looking forward to doing the rigging anyway, I had never done that sort of thing. It was looking good though.
Too cold and uninspiring for photography for me at least, so here's a screenshot of a model I've started working on:

maybe should make this a quiz pic?
The birdbath... a couple male Cardinal, a female facing away at front left, the small black and yellow bird facing us is a male Lesser Goldfinch, the two yellow-green birds, one in the water and one on rock, are young Orchard Oriole.
Hope all are doing well! Play it safe amigos!

no more calls, we have a winner, hold the phones. It is a shed snakeskin. Some might find it interesting a bird, the Great Crested Flycatcher, often adorns its nest with shed snakeskin, believed to be to deter predators.

That's what I wondered,
thanks for clarifying it. It seems like a productive endeavour.
I think looking into flowers has its pluses, and the womb-like nature of the cocoon is also quite seductive.
