Tulsi at 3 Qualifying Polls for November Debate, 2 for December Debate

Today, Tulsi gained her 3rd qualifying poll from a national USA Today/Suffolk University poll.

In this *National* poll, Tulsi scored 4%, topping Kamala Harris (3%), Yang (3%), Booker (2%), Klobuchar (2%), Steyer (1%), O'Rourke (0%), Castro (0%), and Bennet (0%). This poll also counts towards her December poll requirement.

Tulsi has another couple of weeks to gain a 4th needed poll for November.

She is rising!

Edit to add: For those keeping track, besides this most recent poll, she scored a 5% in a CNN/University New Hampshire poll yesterday, and 3% in a USA Today/Suffolk University poll for Iowa on October 21.

The 5% and 4% polls are valid for the December requirements.

You've never heard of Senator Michael "Frack" Bennett?

I hope you don't live in Colorado! Smile

For my part, I'm glad to see Tulsi out-poll him.....

@thanatokephaloides What do we need to know about him? I am asking because I have a suspicion that the eventual Dem. nominee might be looking for a westerner for the VP spot and Merkley ain't interested, as he would like to be Majority Leader someday. Kamala has about disqualified herself. Bennet might get (unearned?) attention because of Colorado's marijuana legislation.

@Nastarana

Please tell us about "Frack" Bennet. What do we need to know about him? I am asking because I have a suspicion that the eventual Dem. nominee might be looking for a westerner for the VP spot and Merkley ain't interested, as he would like to be Majority Leader someday. Kamala has about disqualified herself. Bennet might get (unearned?) attention because of Colorado's marijuana legislation.

Senator Bennett is well known for his opposition to a fracking ban; he beLIEves that it is possible to frack for natural gas in such a way that preserves the integrity of the State's vital aquifers. (Umm, Senator, what about the Rulison Project??)

A report about a town meeting where the Senator discussed fracking and healthcare can be found here. His foreign policy is a bit wishy-washy and a little more pro-imperialist than I'd like; but in his favor, most of his specific demands are for good treatment and abundant resources for the poor bastards we put in the trenches around the world, with which I agree as those people need all the help we can get them. Senator Bennett's foreign policy page is here, and his policy menu page is here.

If you raise the concern that the Senator appears to be a centrist Dem if/when you can pin his position down at all, my answer will be that you now understand Senator Michael Bennett as well as most of those he "represents" in the US Senate.

Hope this helps! Wink

@thanatokephaloides he might be hoping to become the VP and then later the president? Is his wishy-washy not able to be pinned down centrism by way of being a signal to party elites that Hey, I can be whatever you want me to be (and carry CO, NM and AZ plus make T-rump have to spend money in other mountain states)? That would of course imply that the Dem leadership is actually counting electoral votes.

@gjohnsit (and Bernie at 33+%), the dates aren’t in sequence. Looks more like noise, and untrustworthy polling.

@tle I don't know, and maybe this isn't much to go on, but Jimmy Carter, who won in Iowa in 1976 and went on to become elected President, was at 1% in the national polls as late as December 75. In fact, had the DNC gatekeepers rules for debate qualification that are in place now had been in place back then, I believe he would have been excluded from any debates.

Tulsi gets on stage for the November debate--or she doesn't. Either way, Tulsi is going to stick it to Warren--and stick her hard. This is war. Tulsi doesn't mess around. There will be a kill shot from mixed race, non-elderly, female to frail Liz Pocahontas Warren. Tulsi will destroy her with a carefully planned kill shot, stated so swiftly that the corrupt interviewers won't be able to cut her off like they did in the October debate.

Here's the play, coming from my swamp-side vantage point. Remember, you can never go too low to play politix. I learned that from Killary and MyMichelle.

450

1. Tulsi knocks Warren back to Fenway, so Liz can drink that muddy water in the Charles.

2. Lizzy staggers for weeks, like the Camel, before realizing she is mortally wounded.

3. Senile ByeDone crashes in flames of insolvency when rich backers decline to throw good money after bad (and with ByeDone it's all bad.)

4. The Evil Queen (need we name names?) sees the opening. Pride goeth before a fall. Killary has plenty of pride, which takes the empty space in her limbic system where empathy is supposed to be.

5. H. Rodent Clinton will jump into the fracas to SAVE the DemonRAT party (does my disdain show yet?:) She enters the fray, flanked by Neera Tanden, Skippy, Robbie Mook, Ben Rhodes, and Chelsea (whose nose surgery makes her look sickeningly more like Medusa).

6. Orange Man laughs. Lays a wreath at the altar of Mammary Mammon. Collects $1B on the day the E.Q. announces her planned revenge on the United States.

7. Watch out: this comment becomes pure Godwinism: Like Adolph Hitler, Hillary has decided that Amerika isn't good enough for her. Götterdämmerung--I'm taking y'all with me to Hades. Y'all should be grateful--I, HRC, have gotten you most of the way there already.

Or will the DNC cook the numbers like they did in earlier debates where Tulsi qualified more than Amy and that other white dude whose number was lower than hers?m

I'm running for president to undo Hillary Clinton's 'failed legacy'

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard offered a more detailed response to Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, saying she’s running for president to undo the “failed legacy” of Mrs. Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee and former secretary of state.

“From Iraq to Libya to Syria, her record is replete with foreign-policy catastrophes,” Ms. Gabbard, Hawaii Democrat, wrote in a piece in the Wall Street Journal. “It’s a primary reason why I resigned as vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee in 2016 to endorse Bernie Sanders. Mrs. Clinton and the powerful media and political network she built up over decades have never forgiven this slight. The smears have been nonstop ever since.”
....
“Mrs. Clinton already lost to Mr. Trump once. Why would Democrats think a Hillary 2.0 candidate would result in anything different?” she said.

“Whether Mrs. Clinton’s name is on the ballot or not, her foreign policy will be, as many of the Democratic candidates adhere to her doctrine of acting as the world’s police, using the tools of war to overthrow governments we don’t like, wasting taxpayer dollars, costing American lives, causing suffering and destruction abroad, and undermining America’s security,” she continued.

“Only when we recognize the failings of the past — embodied by Mrs. Clinton and her minions in the media — can we move forward to a future of peace, dignity, transparency and aloha,” she concluded.

Aloha indeed. Good speech.

Not "Secretary Clinton", "Hillary Rodham Clinton", or even just "Ms. Clinton".

"Mrs. Clinton". Literally, "wife of Clinton".

I bet it really gets Hillary's goat, being referred to that way. Biggrin

also uses that manner of referring to people. They call Bernie Sanders "Mr. Sanders", rather than "Senator Sanders" or "Bernie", for instance.

I suppose that's the proper form of address amongst the elite. Got to maintain standards, you know.

At least they didn't refer to her as "Her Majesty". Blum 3

The New York Times also uses that manner of referring to people. They call Bernie Sanders "Mr. Sanders", rather than "Senator Sanders" or "Bernie", for instance.

But the Washington Times actually broke style to call Hillary Clinton "Mrs. Clinton". Tulsi Gabbard, also a married woman, is referred to as "Ms. Gabbard".

I suspect there really is something behind this stylistic skulduggery......

It was reported that the meeting was hosted by prominent Wall Street Democrat and political consultant Robert Wolf, not the guy in the Rising video. The event was also held at the Hunt and Fish Club restaurant owned by Anthony Scaramucci, who now also works for Wolf's political consulting firm.

I'm sure everybody is aware of who Scarmucci is but it should be noted that Robert Wolf is a prominent Wall Street Democrat and a golfing buddy of Obama -- and past chief of Swiss bank UBS' U.S. operations who runs that political consulting firm plus an investtment advisory firm of 32 advisors, and is also a FOX Business contributor.

Tulsi's apparent affinity, whatever it amounts to, towards Biden remains disturbing to me. I have never come across her criticising Biden and when she had a golden opportunity to lace into him at that first debate on his role in Iraq, she let him go and later actually defended him.

And the connection with Wolf, whatever it amounts to, especially given Wolf's relationship with Obama, is cause for concern, too.

I've been generally supportive albeit questioning of Tulsi, but there are some questions that keep popping up that continue to cause concern for me and no doubt other lefties - aside from her defending Biden on his Iraq role and his relationship with segregationists, moving away from support for M4A, and her foreign policy vision beyond opposing "regime change wars."

I looked around and I can't seem to find any satisfactory answers to the following questions but I'm certainly open to reading and taking into consideration any actual clarifications. Obviously, I won't be voting for her but I'm wondering where she might fit into the future given the development of any political scenario.

Tulsi's position on Israeli occupation and settlements?

U.S. funding of Israel?

Also . . .

Her position on fracking?

Why did she vote to keep Gitmo open?

Her votes on Trump's military budgets?

Her position on drones -- did Obama use them correctly?

I'd also like to hear more about her take on Obama's foreign policies.
