The currency of life is not money but time and love. Remember time is finite, but you are blessed with infinite love.”
― Debasish Mridha

Just funkin' sayin'.

I have a nagging feeling that time is running out, which imparts an urgency to live life to the fullest. I am certain the feeling is amplified by the loss of my sweetie. The urgency to live, combined with a devil may care attitude, keeps me rolling.

Losing the love of my life created a void that could lead to darkness and my own demise. Or I can fill the void. Riding a motorcycle, briskly down mountain roads, consumes one's consciousness. Leaving no room for brooding, nor despair. Evening reality supplementation places me into a social environment, and beats the funk out of sitting at home. So, I have researched where to go. Towns with saloons, dispensaries and spirits.

With proper supplementation, I should be able transcend our boring world and hang out in the nether space. I will probably take a fatty to get there.

Or maybe, it will just cause the munchies.

No matter, the important part is keeping moving.

That's my que, gotta move. Have a great weekend! The thread is OPEN.

@Raggedy Ann Are you far from Trinidad? Even if I take 40, I figure to head north of Amarillo, through Dumas, to Trinidad. All of my plans are notional and subject to change, based on the weather forecast and my physical state.

If you go through Dumas, you miss New Mexico and me. I am off exit 196 in New Mexico on I-40. When are you thinking of coming through? You might also hit me on your way back. Let's see if we can make it happen! Pleasantry

@Raggedy Ann I have a few things to take care of here. I am hoping to leave NC 6/25, but it could be later. I plotted a route to maximize using points instead of $. Especially for the long cruising days to and from. Staying away from metropolitan and resort areas makes both points and $ go further. I was thinking of staying a couple of nights here.

When you are ready to travel, let me know and maybe we can work something out. I'm not going anywhere this summer and only have commitments 6/15-17, 6/30-7/2, and then I plan to take long weekends through July (i.e., Thursday/Friday; Friday/Monday; Monday/Tuesday) depending on whatever. My husband and I like to camp, so we might be doing some of that during these long weekends. Other than that - we'll be around and would love to meet/host you.

That place in Leadville looks awesome! I'd stay there in a second, myself.

Cheers! Drinks

My buddy says we are richer than kings and queens because we can do with our time what we wish. They are constrained by ceremony and obligations.

I think he is right. Time is a gift. Like all gifts the joy is in how you use it.

I sing a song with the line -
the greatest gift, most special gift, is another day...

My friend that wrote that song died at age 52.

Here's hoping you all find the first day of June to be a great gift. All the best!

[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwYX52BP2Sk]

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

@Lookout I am acutely sensitive to time limitations and trying to optimize the remaining time, or die trying.

Time is
Too Slow for those who Wait,
Too Swift for those who Fear,
Too Long for those who Grieve,
Too Short for those who Rejoice;
But for those who Love,
Time is not.

@Lookout Funny: just heard this on the car radio earlier today. Related in more ways than one. (And the last song Waters and Gilmour performed together live, right?)

Ulysses. Not being he, I doubt it waits for me (or thee), so sit and watch and listen to the pulse of the universe, or romp and rage and set your own personal tempo in your own local universe, it will pass. I am lately trying to get up and do something, anything remotely productive, at least a few minutes per waking hour. Busting up the butt time as it were, but it is more difficult than I thought it would be. Nonetheless, I am more active than I have been in a long time and I can almost see the top of one of my benches, so it is good.

Ride on, Tim. Riding slows the passage of time and creates waves in the universe for you to observe and absorb. It's in the math, time shortens proportional to the square root of (1-v2/c2) so even when you're standing, vibrate, jiggle and boogie. Bring on the funk. Take care and be safe.

@enhydra lutris Also known as the scourge of the MBA. Used to have to be 74% productive. Subtract PTO and there were only 72% of the hours available. You could charge hours to your projects, but you'll miss your budget targets. A budget established during the sales cycle and without your input.

@NCTim other than merely moving for the sake of movement (though a bit of that too), like sort that shit, or drag out the step stool and put that crap in the corner up in the rafters where it belongs or find my rat tail file, and all stuff like that. No budgets and no charging time, I'e been done with that for decades and I didn't play along when I wasn't.

my "productivity" requires or even generally involves "efficiency". One is a "make or do shit" thing and the other is some dipshit management time and motion thing.

That sounds like a great run you are planning. Any particular route in mind? Biker hubby and I will head out to Seattle for our big Fly and Ride July 4th. Bike is rented. We'll cross the border into Vancouver BC and roam around for a week. Hope the biker weather gods smile as they always do on my hubby. Smile I've never been to Canada so am looking forward to it, big-time!! Time is most assuredly tight as they say!

Try not to get in too much mischief and stay safe! Rec'd!

@orlbucfan I was going to go US40 from RDU area to Nashville, then up to Paducah, across the southern tip of IL, southern Missouri and follow The Santa Fe Trail through KS to Trinidad, CO. Trinidad is a good place to pick up supplies. Then the rough plan is to cross ~15, 10K+ passes. Go to Mesa Verde, Moab, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon and Zion. Then probably back to Colorado and some slow days in a mountain town, probably Silverton.
