Album of the Week - 6-1-24

Afternoon folks!

It's another small haul this week since my uploading schedule got interrupted by the holiday weekend bluegrass festival. Starting out we've got a mid-70's Albert King album with some really excellent cuts, and a Chambers Brothers album with an incredible version of "The Weight." After that there's a double live album of Procol Harum in 1969, the sound quality is less than optimal but the music quality is great, then there's a cool album of R. Crumb with a bunch of pretty talented players doing a variety of cool old tunes. In the diversity category there's British folk ensemble Pentangle and an album by Spirit.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 10-14-23

Afternoon folks!

Well, things have slowly improved with my daily limit on youtube, so there's more this week than last. Starting off there's an album by the great Otis Spann accompanied by Robert Jr. Lockwood, followed by a compilation of singles from the ridiculously obscure Young Jessie - make sure you listen through at least to hear his original version of "Mary Lou," which became a hit for the Steve Miller Band and also Ronnie Hawkins. There's a bunch of blues rock this week with albums by Mike Bloomfield and Dr. Feelgood and some country rock from The Flying Burrito Bros. There's an album by the harder-to-classify Spirit and we finish off with some UK electric folk from the Albion Country Band.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week 9-16-23

Afternoon folks!

There's a plethora of blues this week, there are albums from Junior Wells, Lil Ed & The Imperials, delta slide player Mississippi Fred McDowell and Charlie Musselwhite.

In the rock vein, there's another Spirit album and then you can get all folked up with albums from The International Submarine Band (Gram Parsons - Byrds, Flying Burrito Bros) first successful band, the Grateful Dead (acoustic) and serious folkie, Jody Stecher.

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

Album of the Week 9-9-23

Afternoon folks!

I've got a couple of live blues albums for you this week, one from BB King and one (a UK import) from Albert Collins and there's a Buddy Guy album to keep you hummin' for the rest of the weekend. Following that there's a big bunch of blues rock, albums by Rory Gallagher, Harvey Mandel (guitarist for Canned Heat), slide wizard David Lindley and a live album from Mountain. Finishing it all off is an album from Spirit.

Enjoy!
