Military Totalitarianism Takes Over Amerika
So Emperor Trump wants a military parade. Run it right up and down Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. in front of millions of incredibly brainwashed people. Mindless people. Stepford citizens, if you look closely you'll see a little scar from an incision on the backs of their necks. Just like in the movies. We are in a movie, man.
We gotta change the fucking channel.
Trump wants to be worshiped. You don't really need a psychiatrist do you? Come on now.
It couldn't happen here? It is happening here. Look around.
Hey, but I say, it's an opportunity. I mean, if it isn't, then we're fucked. Maybe we're fucked anyway, but we surely will be if we don't take this opportunity.
We need to rev up the Peace Train.
It's perfect if you think about it. We need to stop the madness. Those ruling this country are fucking crazy. They want war, more war, nuclear weapons, more nuclear weapons, more submarines, more aircraft carriers, more EVERYTHING. Especially WAR!. And the militarism that comes with it. There couldn't be a better time to wake people up. Maybe.
Here comes Trump with a military industrial complex wet dream of a military parade in D.C., the nation's cesspool of sociopaths and psychopaths. The symbolism is frightening.
If there ever was a time to fight for Peace, it's now. If ever there was a time for a revolution, it is now. You know, it's already too late.

We need to have a counter-parade at the same time. Ideas for what to have in our parade?...

Americans haven’t seen a real war and all its consequences since the Civil War. We’ve fought all our wars in somebody elses country since that time. We don’t see the real death, pain, and destruction.
America didn’t like it or want any part of it last time reality was shoved under its nose.

Interesting revelation in that article
Yet another facet, for the "why" U.S. does what it does. Think of the millions of refugees, survivors, going on 20+ years of this shit U.S. has been imposing on Iraq, and others...creating customers.
So, besides the obvious MIC cash-cow, now we've another glimpse of the pharm industry benefits -- creating product demand.
Americans are too isolated from the carnage it's miltary
foists upon innocents in the unending theaters of war the country has been involved in since it's inception.
When three thousand American citizens were killed in 9/11, the country went berserk. More than half the nation wanted to go and "kick some ass, any ass" in bloody retribution. The US military is still kicking ass 17 years later with no end in sight. It is estimated that 4 million men, women and children have (so far) paid the price with their deaths. Ancillary carnage in this ill-conceived War
onof Terror- wounding, loss of limbs, homes, income, mental anguish - is incalculable. There is something deeply wrong with the American psyche - it's typical response to most national (and domestic) security threats is pathological. The nation is sick and getting sicker. This is showing up within the general population with increasing gun violence and drug consumption in ALL segments of the society.
America has been responsible, directly or indirectly, for the deaths of 20 to 30 million people worldwide since WWII, more than any other nation in the world. And most of the killed have been peoples of color.
(Sorry for the rant but that photo pisses me off to no end.)
Your comment is spot on
I wonder how many people even bothered to wonder why we were hit on 9/11. Did they just think that we've been minding our business and bam someone decided to kill as many people as they could? We know why they would want a little payback after all the shit we had been doing since the end of WWII.
The number of people who have been killed by this country since the end is closer to a billion according to one report I read. I know that if my family had been wiped out by one of someone's bomb that I sure as hell would want revenge.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

Pretty much. The idiots inhabiting this country still do.
There were two pictures in particular that brought reality into America’s living rooms.
AND
Americans pulled a 180 on support for the war when they were faced with what we were making our husbands, sons, grandsons, neighbors do to support the American need for power and control.
That naked child just screamed “America is willing to sacrifice anyone anywhere in its never-ending quest for empire’.
Those pictures brought the war into Americans living rooms. There was no fooling ourselves after that.

@CB
American society has been carefully brainwashed and pathologized over decades by armies of propaganda/'social engineering' experts in the long-running plans of psychopaths aching for global fascist domination and power over all, for which America has been drained and used, as previously was Germany, by psychopathic US industrialists who failed the first time and who could well fail again.
Look at the number of Americans who have survived this while retaining humanity, and retain your faith in the human spirit over the mindless, soulless egotism and greed of the Psychopaths That Be.
They are not you, they are not America.
The true American Dream of the more enlightened US Founders was of government of, by and for the people, with equal rights, treatment and opportunity for all, with no standing armies, with corporations kept strictly in check and none allowed to predate upon those more vulnerable, with the right of the pursuit of personal happiness recognized, making the direction of legitimate law absolutely obvious. (When are corporations ever 'happy'? Ever seen one joyously smiling while walking down the street? Not the people within it, the ones already having the same rights as everyone else and not entitled to 'purchased extras' which nobody else can afford. I mean the actual evasion-of-personal-liability-enabling agreement - defined as utterly irresponsible in illicit US 'law' - corporation, given political 'purchase rights' over the governance and law of actual US human citizens. Who were guaranteed self-rule, and the universal protection of rights throughout all States of the Union.)
Even at that time, the more far-seeing and less self-interested Founders (please note, not 'ruling funders') were attempting to fight (as they did against the self-interested among them, for the inclusion of the Bill of Rights,) what we're dealing with now. That is your heritage and vision - not the worship of those who can 'get rich quick (at the expense of others) and the Devil take the hindmost (crippled by the exertion of this pathology)'.
Those precepts are not mere words but concepts, principles, the basis of legitimate law in America under her Constitution. The fact that powerful groups ignore or illegally distort law and their use of words describing concepts does not make them less real, less basic to humanity/species survival or less overarching; they still obtain and are still true.
TPTB are deluded, believe they can make their own reality and impose this on true reality - and attempt to control people by conditioning them, en masse, into accepting their unreal and pathological world-view via 'normalization' and other propaganda techniques. These fascist lunatics are turning the world into a lunatic asylum because they have been cheated into (public) positions of making blatantly unconstitutional legislation and people accept this as legitimate law that controls them, when it has been self-servingly created in defiance of all principle, sanity and sense by interlopers.
They are copralite (petrified dung) to your 'OPOL', gems of pissed-off (actual) liberals shining with humanity in its very best sense. Don't let the Psychopaths That Be discourage you into accepting the views they wish you to accept, that what they are and have inflicted bears any relation to 'human nature' or is in any sense 'inevitable'; this is its opposite and seeks to corrupt/destroy all it cannot understand and micromanage for typically short-term personal use, a deadly pathology destroying all it touches in blind, devouring greed until/unless it is stopped by the very human capacities seen by the psychopathic as exploitable vulnerabilities.
We can no longer allow them to twist, suppress and use against us the essential human capacities they lack, of empathy, ethics and the ability for long-range and critical thinking but which may allow us to take back our destinies, our democracies and the chance of survival.
They have nothing but lies, deception and the stolen might to use against all right, which we must not allow to influence our perceptions so that we permit them to have it all and simply wait for whatever doom they visit upon us, in however many ongoing ways. They may ignore, but cannot obviate, our inherent and perpetual human and citizen rights, they can only make us think they can.
But they spread their evil this way.
Woke up rather late and was beginning (not absorbing much very well, lol,) to watch this, from 2015, a portion of which (starts perhaps 6 or 7 minutes in) provided me with some further insight into AfriCom and the hostility against, and plans to subjugate/nuke, China, along with other countries capable of self-defense:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URAmz6fsGI0
Trump has given the military Generals, in what's becoming more and more a privatized corporate military/intelligence service, their heads, which means that they take those of others as freely as they please. What they are beginning will finish us all, if they are not stopped. There used to be a saying about good old American ingenuity; haven't heard that saying lately, but I'll bet a lot more of it's still around than we hear of.
In the US Constitution, which the Trilateral Commission, ALEC, etc. wish and are pushing to rewrite to suit themselves in a 'runaway Con Con', it is clearly stated that if the US government becomes oppressive, it is the right of Americans to replace it with one truly of, by and for the people, to fulfill the real American dream of a civilized and sustainable society of caring and free equals.
Personally, I'd say that one of the most immediate and likely-to-succeed goals should be to fight hard to replace the corrupt with Progs only within at least one of the only two permitted 'political parties', as moving to a single-party-choice-system obviously involves dropping the pretense of giving 'a democratic choice' to The People and thereby internationally also drops any shreds of any pretense of legitimacy. They rely upon what they term 'optics' still, as they fear The People taking back their stolen power, together with their already accelerating loss of international support and alliances, due to the increasing recognition of their pathology and of the upcoming fatality to all with its continued exertion.
Get in a majority of one Party actually acting for the public good, and it becomes possible to enact legislation for Fair Voting to allow multiple Parties and political choices for which people can freely vote and have their votes count - and counted. Without being tossed off the rolls for being in a category 'likely to vote wrongly'.
Never to 'forgive' further cheating, never to 'forget' or accept suspicious electoral results 'as a done deal' to encourage corruption to worsen, as it has.
All feasible chances toward the gaining of American democracy must be promptly pursued, in finally achieving that promised freedom of the pursuit of happiness among, and because of having, all of the rest. While anything remains to be salvaged of the already dying-for-profit-and-power natural life support system on which we all depend.
Edited for the traditional letter-typo which I noticed laughing at me while waiting for this to post. Sneaky devils...

@travelerxxx
I believe it's an important point; part of that propaganda campaign has been aimed at citizens to incite perpetual victim-blaming among each other to the point where some of the aware are blaming themselves for what was done by order of the Psychopaths That Be, even knowing that they have no control over their embezzled government and despise what's being so shamefully done in their name.
Blame needs to be properly attributed and accountability narrowed down to those so far avoiding it.
And Progressives need to be all-out supported and installed to replace the corrupt mess masquerading government now as there will be no chance permitted later, if there is indeed 'a later' remaining...

Busy little think tank workers
Yes, we've got to realize that there are forces arrayed against us - "the aware," as you name them. I do say "us," as most here on C99 fall into that camp. It's not just us here, of course. I have friends and co-workers who fall into that category whose political leanings might at first seem diametrically opposed to what's often seen here at C99, yet they are much more "woke" than your average TOP correspondent. It's interesting that they face a somewhat different type of wedge-driving, although the hoped for result (by the think tanks) is the same: division, hate, fear.
I often suspect the real goal of the propaganda is to turn us into inert, docile lumps of flesh.
@travelerxxx
And I suspect that you're dead-on right in all of the above.
Nobody will ever agree with anyone else on everything, there will always be differences of opinion, but which needn't mean 'war'; the decades of brainwashing to condition people to hate and fear differences of any kind and to react strongly against them must be overcome and, actually, a fair bit of this has been, mostly due to Bernie. As long as we can learn to unite on the big things, the basic survival and democracy issues, I believe that we can overcome the evils. It's just not going to be easy, to say the least.

People are yawning in the face of possible nuclear war with either Russia or N. Korea instead of being in the streets over the threat of global devestation and congress should be making damn sure that Trump isn't able to do it. Instead the jackasses are spending time on the false Russian crap and whether to shut down the government. Again. Pelosi's stunt of standing in 4" heels yesterday could have been for demanding that congress funds all the social programs that are underfunded, for warning about how dangerous the talks of using smaller nukes and a number of other issues that are facing Americans. But no, she's taking a stand on DACA while America's toilets are overflowing.
Why is this government intent on bringing NK inline? Because it didn't get its way back in the early 1940's when it wanted to install its own puppet regime, establish a permanent military presence to defend US commercial interests, and maintain control of a strategically-located territory that is a critical part of Washington’s plan to encircle Russia and China to remain the dominant global power throughout the century. Look at what we have done to since then.
The other reason for the threat has to do with Russia and China of course. If we can't own the world then nobody is going to either.

I think military parades would be an excellent program.
Americans love a parade.
The Feds can arrange for huge military displays, deploying tens of thousands of men from all the branches along with many tanks, missiles and other military hardware. Several dozen of these divisions will rotate throughout America on a weekly basis so that every American city with a population over 100,000 can have a parade every year. Of course this will entail bringing home a large contingent of the forces that are now deployed overseas but I believe it will be worth it.
It's time we spent some of that trillion dollar defense budget on the average American. They can give out free flags, hotdogs and Big Gulps.
With Democrats now officially aligned with the Republican war party, there should be little resistance from the lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to get a bill passed.
Lets make America great again....
USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!
The dem vs. goper war policy difference
There is one difference between war policy among the parties:
Saw this when Trump launched cruise missiles at Syria. Democrats favored the missile strikes. Their complaint for the most part was that Trump mis-managed the strike and did not kill any Russians or inflict more damage. In fact, the liberal denizens at Young Turks like Cenk have argued that this lack of murder and destruction to appropriate levels shows that Trump is Putin's puppet.
So democrats will support war, but attack the gop president for being an incompetent military leader.
So gopers will support war, but in the case of Obama, attack him for being an incompetent military leader.
Very true.
If HER was president she would have dropped one of Obomber's mini nukes and taken out the entire airfield with one missile - not like the Trumpeter's half-assed job using fifty. She's been itching to bomb Syria for over a decade.
Imagine the accolades SHE would have got from the MSM....
@CB
They'd have to get those accolades out fast - moving to nukes would trigger MAD everywhere capable of it. North America and a bunch of other targeted countries would be gone in no time, with the not-directly-attacked countries void of life not long thereafter.

It was originally Obama's idea
Make them smaller, smarter and more accurate so they can limit the damage.
But this has a downside. It makes them easier to contemplate using and it fails to account for a future president that is a confirmed war hawk like Killary or a readily swayed Trumper. I can envision either of those goofs using these new weapons to make their "points". There are many psychopaths running the show in the Pentagon. It's almost a necessity for advancement and promotion in the mass killing industry.
Tactical Nukes
I read an article that claimed a tactical nuke a soldier could carry on his back had the equivalent explosive power of the 15 kiloton nuke America dropped on Hiroshima. I'm guessing the proverbial "suitcase nuke" could rain 5 kilotons of explosive destruction down on it's target.
[Edit] Wow! It looks like the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs would be considered tactical nukes by today's standards:

Right on, Big Al.
Right you are Big Al (imvho).
Either this is an opportunity or we're hosed for good. I'm pulling for opportunity.
What about a national strike on parade day...
He wants to feed his ego. I think ignoring him rather than having a competing parade/protest or whatever would be more effective. A one day work stoppage with the message:
Stop the wars, or we stop working...for good.
I also think we should also have a gasoline boycott for a week.
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Give up Wally World for
a week. I only fill up
(the gas tank) about every 2-3 weeks,
so a gas boycott for me is pretty easy.
A boycott of Big Boxes for a week wouldn't
put much of a dent, but at least it's a dent.

If Walmart (and the rest) are really working on as thin of a profit margin as they claim, then a nationwide boycott of even a few days would hurt them quite a bit. After all, they claim their thin margin is why they are "forced" to open on Xmas, Thanksgiving, etc. It's possible they are telling the truth. It's also possible that they're simply greedy.
Of course, any boycott of WM (etc) would doubtless have the business loudly announcing how they were going to have to lay off a thousand workers due to the bottom line hit. You can see that coming from a mile away....
The food and grocery
part of the biz is 3%
or less. The remainder of the
160,000 sq. ft. is closer to 10%
to 15%. They do ok.

At least some of the Walmart heirs are suffering and 'poorer' than thought.
While most here are likely aware of this sort of thing, it's essential that people in general understand what gets counted (as with votes) for taxation purposes and what gets referred to as 'charity' among the super wealthy, even though it appears that the 'potential' beneficiary gets it in the end.
I can see wanting to conserve assets for family, but 'charitable' dodges - especially under these circumstances - set my teeth on edge. These are not impoverished people; they have more that they could ever spend - while their workers suffer and the public purse is drained on their behalf to provide their underpaid workers with further (if inadequate) additional basic (and very limited and controlled) survival aid being further cut to suit the already super-wealthy who again have had their taxes cut, (increasing their transferred burden onto underpaid taxpayers, who will also have to pay the debt created throughout whatever future time, since they can't possibly pay it all on their own) who then use even the pretext of 'charity' to avoid any semblance of paying that (reduced) portion of their fair share of tax (in any area) to keep the country running, in order to transfer their tax burden - along with the rest - onto the underpaid and already-drained portion of The Disposable public long collapsing beneath this:
From 2010:

From 2014 (2013 data):
https://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2014/04/15/report-walmart-work...
In this case, much of this money involved has been and is drained from underpaid workers and the public purse and the public needs to know how tax returns to that public purse can be avoided, by those having accumulated the most from draining them through various methods in every step of the way, using not only such as offshoring/'Delawaring' 'offices'/money and LLC/Foundation plans -
(Reminder: Biden's home stomping grounds. Kinda makes you wonder if the financial leaks which caught few Americans were strategic in order to increase such business in Delaware, now being promoted as the best place in the world for this kind of thing. And for making anonymous political contributions, of course - very handy, especially for foreign interests. Emphasis mine; although the entire quoted portion actually merits this, the business/billionaire-purchased/controlled political/legislative aspect explains so very much.)

- and the hyper-wealthy also using 'charitable donations' as well; this following is a very educational article, at least it was for me and I suspect would be for many others not expert in this field.
All emphasis mine.

What a convoluted web they weave
in seeking new ways to deceive...
There may never be 'enough' for various of the pathologically greedy draining workers, the economy, the environment and the public, but enough is enough for the rest of us.
The People need to unite to vote Prog only and crowd the established corruption out. And don't take 'done deal' for an 'answer' to suspicious electoral results ever again.

Business as usual for the Capitalist Party USA.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
Once Again...
Trump's just doing what the rest of them are thinking.
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
We don't need to
change the channel-we need to kill the fuckin' Television!
Locally, this past week, I noticed a new group of anti-war people holding a vigil down by the courthouse/county jail. I Will be checking that out this weekend.
Keep heart, BA! It could be starting! Will report back with info.

(Lots for him to grab here.)
i applaud your aspirational state by state peace marches
Big Al, and yes, deecee is too far to go, as the new 'peoples march on poverty' is setting up.
i had to laugh at this new call from medea benjamin, though: ‘As Congress Feeds the Merchants of Death, the People Must Divest’ by Medea Benjamin and Elliot Swain / February 7th, 2018
shucks, i guess i'll sell all my raytheon stock, won't you?
dunno if or where this will go, and it's (dagnabbit), deecee again, but: 'Women’s March on the Pentagon? An Interview with Cindy Sheehan’, BAR, jan. 18. hope the McResistance Dems don't capture it...again.
Are you serious?
You think that US militarization started with Trump?
Have you posted pictures of Hitler, Stalin and whoever the 3rd guy is with HRC, BC, Obama, the Bushes, etc?
If you haven't, why not, and why are you starting with Trump?
dfarrah
Yes, dfarrah, I have posted pictures of Clinton, Obama,
So what is it with you and Trump? You can't possibly be seriously in support of that asshole can you?
It used to be
I give credit where credit is due in regard to politicians.
I don't see what the big deal is - everyone else marches all over the place, why shouldn't the military? Dems typically express fealty to the military in any number of circumstances, but now they are yet again in a state of hysteria because the military might march? The bias is astounding.
dfarrah
have one person stand in front of the tanks.
As they haul that person off another lone person steps out. This time in front of the entire parade.
And so on all day long.
Good idea,

Who are the band?
They're very good.
Wonderful essay, again. Just what's needed.
Can't recall the name of that male folk-dancing where they wind up continually kicking themselves in the fanny, but I think we need to do a lot of that to ourselves. And triggered so many people here to produce such great ideas of what to do once moving.

It's actually a Norwegian folk dance called "halling", and the Norwegians claim to have introduced it to Kievan Rus', where it eventually became the "kazatsky". And they might actually be right about that!
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
@TheOtherMaven
Holy cow, thanks for the video! My legs got sore just watching that, lol.
That wasn't one of Trump's old toupees he was kicking practically off the ceiling, was it? You'd have to be a very tall fool indeed to mess with the Norwegians...

Just like the Irish...
introduced the bagpipes to Scotland.
In both cases, the givers conveniently neglected to let the recipients in on the joke.
