Friday Night Photos - I don't have a lot Edition
Submitted by Bollox Ref on Fri, 01/12/2018 - 6:46pm
Here's a snap of a hail storm from a few years ago. Much damage all round.
This is Fred from yesterday, wishing that you all keep warm this frigid new year!
Now, off to enjoy linguine with clams/sauce. Just keep the noise down. The neighbours at Daily Kult might hear.

Thanx Bollox
The beginning of new years eve 2017.

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
We spent New Year's Eve
Fiddling with a defunct car battery. Lovely clouds and light. Reminds me of an 18th C. landscape backdrop.

Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up to such beauty,
every new day of the year. Nice to see you and your photos, Pricknick.
Hi Bollox and all. Thanks for posting. Mighty fine peek at Fred.
These guys have moved in. Never been here before in the winter. And I don't know what they are.

Foggy this morning

You caught the light!
Lovely stuff.

Hey Fred...
I love the fog and taking photos in it. The Central Valley gets very dense fog called Tulle fog and it moves and swirls. From my time there

Hi Snoopy!
Wow I love the fog too. I got so excited this morning when I looked outside and there was fog. Your photos are wonderful. (btw - I watched the dog sledding video. A happiness.)
I also searched for the photographer's name that did the wave series. And I found it! Here is an article about him: https://www.demilked.com/slurpee-waves-jonathan-nimerfroh/ And here is a link to his gallery where you can buy the photos though they could be pricey: https://www.samuelowen.com/artist/Jonathan_Nimerfroh/works/2016/#!2016 The waves are just so sculptural. I love them.
The news is dead, long live the news.
Thank you
It was warm enough to be outside during the winters there and I loved walking in it. There was a park close by that had old fashioned lamps on the trail that I wanted to photograph when it was foggy, but it was the park that Lacy Peterson went missing from. Remember that? Many people were looking for her in this area. I didn't dare go there at night because of that.
This is one of my favorites from this area. I could go 5 miles in different directions and each time was like the first time. Lots of different types of trees. There was a pig pen on the other side of this fence, but the farmer sold his farm to the city for a golf course. I found over 3,000 golf balls and my springer in my other photo used to love finding them. We'd find them for golfers who hit them out of bounds and give them back. Bo would look at me .... heh. I asked for water balls for her though. Ahh, memories.

What an inviting path...
The flowing trees make in magical.
The news is dead, long live the news.
Imagine my surprise when I went there one day
and it was gone. The fence was torn down and the pigs were gone. I was sick to see it torn up and it didn't make sense because nothing was done to the area. There was a great barn with horses and other animals and that too was just gone one day. I hate change..
These are in the same area of the fence. About 50 yards away from it and every day I walked there it was different. Boy do I miss the area. I'll post photos of a different area of the walking area next week.

Thank you for finding his site
Man, what a lucky guy to be able to get those photos. You're right, I bet they are expensive. If you need to contact someone for the price then you know it's going to be a lot.

Thanks for the explanation of a Slurpee n/t
Nice fog shots, Snoopy
I've made a few drives through the Tulle fog in the Central Valley. When the fogs thick and the traffics heavy, it can be some real white knuckle driving.
My God can kick your Gods ass.
White knuckle driving
Yep. The only way to get home is to follow the car in front and hope that they can see the road. And there is nothing else to do because you can't just pull over and wait it out. But it's beautiful to watch if you're somewhere safe.

I can remember a time
coming down the Grapvine and looking out at nothing but Tule Fog as far as the eye could see with crystal blue sky above. Sinking down into that nothingness was surreal and a little frightening.

Thoughts of The Shadow beckons.
Thanks for the pics.
Same for me
Except it was the Altamont pass coming from San Francisco. I looked for an image of it and I remember this road. It gets much worse than this.
Often times you can't see half this far especially when it's dark
Good to see you here

@magiamma
Hi M,
Those little brown streaky jobs appear to be Pine Siskin. They are related to goldfinches. When they fly you should see yellow patches in wing and tail, bigger on adults, can be reduced on first winter birds.

Thank you dystopian
They are so tiny and eat so much I have to fill the feeders every day. This is the first winter they have been at our house in 30 years. We also have white-crowned sparrows that over winter here and leave in late April maybe for Canada. I watch for them to come with anticipation.
The news is dead, long live the news.
Haunting
I agree, you captured the light beautifully.

Hi magiamma
The suns rays when visible like that are among light’s most magical moments. Thank you magiamma, for posting those. That last photo has such a strong sense of the mystical. Like having arrived at a place of wonder.
Hi Magiamma
This shit is bananas.
I've been looking at the last photo and it's just stunning
I've been trying to express my thoughts on it , but can't. Just wow.

That mandril
really has his(?) eye on you.

Yes, Magiamma, it is a male
and he doesn't show himself often. In a about a half dozen trips to the zoo a year, over the last six years this only the second time I've seen him.
My God can kick your Gods ass.
Hmm, what is the Panda really thinking?

Hi Social
Your photo of the Mandrill made me wonder about how she would have photographed you, had she been given a camera.
... and your photos of the Mountain Gorilla and Panda
are also fascinating. Your portraits, whether Pandas or Water Drops are very enjoyable. Thank you.
Thank you, Janis.
I'm glad you enjoy them.
My God can kick your Gods ass.
Hopefully in focus

Hi all,
Hi all,
That Mandrill has always really impressed me, the biggest old world monkey.
Here's a couple birds ...

Thanks everyone for all the great posts ...

Beautiful bird photos, dystopian
Thank you for the opportunity to revisit some of the birds I once knew, especially the Eastern Bluebird.
Thanks for posting, Bollox.
I almost forgot to put that comma between ‘posting’ and ‘Bollox’ ; ).
I bet Fred brightens up your winter days. Stay warm and comfortable.
Not much here either but a fake sunset …
Okay, you have some explaining to do
Give. BTW, great picture in the Trump essay. This seems like what's happening here a bit doesn't it? The BP must not have any empathy if they can do what there doing. Or something. You wouldn't need a roommate, would you?
The western general public is so terminally zombified that false flag attacks can now be announced 4 weeks in advance
I agree about that concentration camp photo.
It takes my breath away.
The sunset is the light of the setting sun on my wall, in front of which is a small orange candle holder.
Funny you should ask about needing a roommate, as I contemplate my life here and for the near future. More I can't say, except this is a very interesting and challenging time for me.
Who's the BP?
I forgot that you aren't familiar with this country
and all the different departments we have to keep us in line. Border patrol.
I recently read these two articles about the theater that's being played by congress. The hypocrisy is beyond.... If you're interested.

Sounds like you are thinking of some changes. Good or bad? You can message me to explain if you want.

No wonder people opt for diversions from reality.
From the two links you provided …
It will be interesting to read how NZers respond to Trump's increasing perversion when they settle back into real life next week. Most of the country’s been on an extended summer holiday till now.
How does one really know whether changes will be good or bad until some time after they’re made, or even what’s good or bad??? I’m just at the beginning thinking stages, but I sincerely appreciate your offer to be in touch. I hope I will make some good decisions for myself. Take good care, snoopy, and so will I.
Hi everyone
Hi Fred, what a cutie pie!
I didn't get to go anywhere again this week; we had warmer weather but hubby is back at school now and I've been helping on the farm a lot. Nothing new to the yard either, but we're up to three eurasian collared doves now. I was hoping for crows or pheasants or turkeys, something cool, but I get pigeons. Bah!!
Anyway, here are some non-bird critters from late summer/fall:
This shit is bananas.
The turtles
looking for a spot of warm sunshine is very sweet.
Do you think they take turns enjoying the moment ; ).
That is one squirrel with major 'tude!
Some yahoos make me want to change species!
Love the squirrel
And the turtles. Ive been watching geese flying north this week. It's early for them I think, but it's in the 50's again.
