DNC fundraising problems go critical
It's not unusual for the party out of power to have more problems raising money, but it usually isn't this bad.
Recently released numbers show the DNC raised around $4 million during the month of September, while the RNC raised about $10 million.
The data also showed that the RNC has roughly $44 million in cash on hand, while the DNC has roughly $7 million.
The RNC reports having no debt, while the DNC has $3.7 million in debt.
The numbers show an expanding money gap between the national party committees, with the RNC raising more than $104 million so far this year while the DNC has raised a little over $51 million.
Politico (surprisingly) has a great breakdown of the DNC's financial woes.
Compared not just with the RNC, but with other Democratic committees, groups and candidates that are teeming with donations, the DNC's funding problems are stark.
So it's a DNC problem, not a Democratic problem.
Why, oh why, would that be?
Party officials involved in fundraising say donors repeatedly turn them away with a "try again next year," especially since it became clear there won't be an official party autopsy from 2016.
This, above all else, sticks out.
Why was there no autopsy? It's actually hurting the party, and still they won't do it.
There is only one reason I can think of: corruption.
Even donors who are more willing to play ball have a stern message: The party needs a clearer plan to win before we fork over more money.
Even the donor class demands an autopsy, if for no other reason than a ROI.
DNC members themselves have now been asked to give or raise $1,000 each, some said — a request people who've been around the committee for decades say they can't remember being made before.
When you are asking your employees for cash, you are in trouble.
To be fair, the DNC has finally done a significant reform today.
The Democratic National Committee on Saturday unanimously approved a resolution banning donations from corporate contributors whose work conflicts with the party platform.
The proposal, introduced by California member Christine Pelosi, would likely target businesses such as payday lenders and potentially others like gun manufacturers.
It's sad that it took this long.

Then of course there's this:

Corruption? Nah
How could you even suggest such a thing?

Dore is a puzzle to me.
I want to like the guy, but he appears blind to sanders' support of MIC.
war is not a side issue.
what do you think?
@irishking I think that Jimmy
So it's only reasonable to assume that Jimmy has limits to how far he can go. I'm surprised that he's allowed to call Bernie out for continuing to support the duopoly, but since Bernie clearly has no intention of ever ceasing to support the duopoly, I guess it's fine for Jimmy to be pissed about that, since he's clearly pissing in the wind.
As for war, Jimmy speaks out against war like few other commentators do these days, but can't seem to process the fact that Bernie is not a peacenik. I'm not sure why. It seems similar to when Obama stood on a stage and told the American people his Social Security policies were very much like Mitt Romney's. That didn't agree with people's preconceptions of what Democrats are, so what he said just bounced off. People often didn't, and seemingly couldn't, absorb that Obama had said that. It's the same way with Bernie. Bernie looks and mostly acts like a peacenik, and ought to be one, and the fact that he's instead in favor of war in Syria and apparently also with Russia just bounces off Jimmy Dore's head.

And their corporate donors
I said as much when one of their candidates in another state kept begging for dollars, then asked why I was unsubscribing. Though I only subscribed, apparently, by being dumb enough to donate to someone else via ActBlue.
They all make me want to hurl.
I can't believe this actually matters
So sure, a part of me loves seeing them struggle. I just don't believe that's what I'm seeing.
The plutocrats need both parties. The plutocrats fund both parties. They will continue to do so. Any "fundraising problems" can't be more than the plutocrats applying some pressure. In the end, you can bet the DNC will find the money to effectively perform it's role as drum major for the McResistance.
A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

they only want to win in order to get money.

I read that we still aren't needed
But it'll be our fault if they lose
Absolutely.

Me too
I said that as well as they should ask their corporate donors for money, and unsubscribe me so I could quit receiving their money-begging emails. If you don't need my vote, you sure as hell don't need my money!
Yawn!
Yawn at DNC financial difficulties that is.
There's a plethora of good policy they could run on..... but they won't because reasons (donors).

First of all, wasn't DWS the Prom Queen for the lenders from hell — at the same time she was chairing the DNC? Maybe Dems should pick an example of ethics that doesn't make voters sick to their stomachs from the dripping hypocrisy. And, mentioning the sacrifice of "gun manufacturer" money only showcases what greasy weasels they are. I seriously doubt they collected more than spare change from the domestic handgun lobby in the first place. How about they stop accepting all that murder money from the military industrial complex?
Have you noticed that Democrats won't speak about International issues? They don't want to get into their Neoliberal policies that helped the big corporations to go global, and how that turned towns across America into overdose dystopias. Mention Secretary Clinton's massive push for Empire-level trade agreements, like the TPP and TPIF, and the discussion is shut down. As a result, I don't want to hear their whiney pandering about our domestic boo-boos — because I know that they know that the root cause of America's domestic problems is the social austerity that is imposed to pay for the precious wars that the Democratic Party supports. "USA, USA, USA!" After that disgusting chanting at their convention to drown out the voices of Bernie supporters — how in the world could they expect anyone to send them money? Have they no self awareness?
The Democratic Party was warned repeatedly in the years leading up to the 2016 elections — that forcing a Hillary Clinton candidacy upon the electorate was extremely risky. They were warned that voters from the anti-war Left and working classes were agitated and they might not back her. They were told that Clinton was directly associated with foreign death and destruction. Under a Democratic President, five additional wars were added to the general carnage, abroad. At home, Democrats simply stopped voting for Democrats. Hillary, backed by the incumbent Party, was a promise for even more of the same.
Yet the Party thugs, knowing full well that Hillary Clinton's unfavorables were over the top, forced her upon the world as a Presidential candidate. The underlying truth is that Hillary was the DNC's conduit to the major money donors. After all, she'd go to the opening… of a door… to prostitute her influence for money.
As early as January 2016 — before the Primaries began — the Democratic muckymucks knew Clinton was certain to lose. One need only study the Party's leaked emails to see and smell the fact of their fear and desperation. There are consequences to the actions they took that year, and they are just beginning.
