2. NSA hackers were after some super-duper dangerous alleged terrorists among us and had just to get into JtC's network to catch all our secrits.

3. JtC was so pissed off that he can't get a decent vacation time, he just thought about the most easy thing and put up the "we are under maintenance" page to leave him all alone, so he could go fishing.

4. I thought that this downtime should be repeated, because it's actually a good thing to do some research about our dependency on our C99p home. In case it could be measured how often each of us tried to access the site and in what intervals etc, and put the results in a good spreadsheet, and hand it over to the "mental health researchers", we could get a good insight into our addictive tendencies. I didn't go to TOP because I did yesterday for a few minutes, realized it is the kind of place people go that I do not like to be around in a social context.
So, after spending some hours at TPW, I realize it is a place for Progressive Democrats to go. Over and over, they will vote for HRC if they must, in order to beat Trump.
I was surprised a Bernie or Bust attitude, or 3rd party movement attitude , is not particularly welcomed there. I think the site will go all out for HRC if she wins the nom.
In that event, the site will not be able to compete with TOP.
Let's see if my crystal ball is working.

On another note, I had some thoughts and observations like yours, on the cusp. But in a different area.

I was looking around at various online forums, not necessarily political, but places where politics have entered the conversation. I've also been looking at how stunned the UK establishment was over the Brexit vote. And how stunned the GOP establishment was over the Trump vote. And how blazingly stunned the Dem establishment was over the explosive popularity of Sanders.

The drivers of all three electoral outcomes are workers and the working class upending the establishment. They are reeling from Neoliberal globalization policies and the Rule of the Almighty Corporation — both of which have betrayed them for predatory capitalism and Global Financial Totalitarianism.

Most importantly, there is a growing intuition among the middle and lower classes that they are marked for death through neglect and depopulation. They are not needed for "jobs" any longer. Technology has replaced them. The people's economy is shrinking around them and opportunity is suffocating. It is clear that the Corporate State has absolutely no intention of feeding or housing them or providing health care to them. They now realize that the reason the US has no real infrastructure is because the American people are just not worth it. And there is no investment in human capital in the US (a healthy and educated society) because the American people just aren't worth it.

From what I observe, the disenfranchised are keeping their powder dry, but they do plan to vote, and vote with a vengeance. They have every intention of voting to destroy whichever establishment assumes it has controls over them. I feel it in the real world, too. People are guarded. They can now hear the lies, and that's a brand new thing in the US. It think it explains the raw fear that keep places like TOP on the bleeding edge of panic. They feel it, too.

Polling is not going to work anymore, because no one will admit where their vote is going. That's exactly what happened in the Brexit vote. It happened during the Republican primaries, as well. The Sanders voters were more open about it, which required extraordinary efforts to counter the trend. But if the UN saw the exit polls, they would have called it a discredited election. (That's the metric that all national elections are judged by. The Democraitic primary exit polls failed massively. The World Court would have voided it for a redo, based on exit polls, alone.)

In the places I observed, no one said it exactly this way, but I think their attitude is — if you are not deliberately voting for Hillary's defeat by voting for an opponent who can win, then your intention is not to destroy the Democratic Party but to launch it beyond any possibility of change. One more successful election for either party, and the working class will be done. They will be targeted for active neglect.

I believe there are voters in the US who are not going to let that happen. They are not activists and they do not participate on sites like this. But they could turn the establishment upside down and throw the government into chaos. A very hopeful chaos. A Symbolic Referendum — regardless the risk — is the only hope that the Millennials have, at this point.

This possibility is not unfamiliar to academic economists. It's being discussed.
