Bernie Should Beg For Forgiveness!!!

He should prostate himself before the almighty Democratic Party and plead to be pardoned for daring to fight for the weakest!

He should grovel before the anointed one for daring to take on the DNC!

He should donate a pound of his flesh to the Party grandees and pray to be absolved of all his sins!

He should abandon all hope like the rest of you oiks!

We won, so fuck you!

Oh and by the way

You should get on the bus in the name of #partyunity!

Hillary is not as bad as Trump!

This is the vibe I am getting after this primary season from the winners as I watch the Democratic Party congeal around their choice.

As many on the left know all too well:

If she wins it will be in despite of us.

If she loses the easiest election in living memory it will be our fault for making the primary competitive.

No matter who wins in November we will be given nothing but Lip Service until our votes are needed in 2018.

If we dislike both of the most dislikeable couple of people to ever run for the highest office in the land and yet fail to vote for either we are a disgrace.

You know what

I don't fucking care any more, it's the same bloody song every time, all they want is our cash and votes, after that we can go to hell.

They are starting to point out that if they also get majorities in the House and Senate that somehow recent history will become irrelevant and the Democratic Party will magically change and support progressive policies, like that happened in 2008. My view will be that the lessons from 2010 and 2014 will be that the Democratic party was too far to the left and further re-centring will be necessary.

Last time at least Democrats voted for hope and change, this time they have voted Status Quo or bust.

The only reason the Republican Party is still breathing is because the Democratic Party is still clinging to "we are not as bad as" as a winning strategy. The reality is: that both parties like things just the way they are thank you very much, it keeps the cash registers ringing.

The revolution is here and now, not when one party or the other says it's convenient.

Righteous rant, LF. "Pander" is another good word.

Pandering (politics) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pandering is the act of expressing one's views in accordance with the likes of a group to which one is attempting to appeal. The term is most notably associated with politics. In pandering, the views one is expressing are merely for the purpose of drawing support up to and including votes and do not necessarily reflect one's personal values.

Pandering is essentially a reaction of panic in elected officials who must either tailor their views to public opinion or risk losing their existing or potential seat.[1]

Thank you, that's very well-put. All these DNC types whining that "indies" owe the Democratic Party since "they let Bernie run in their party". Somebody actually said that to me not long ago--I laughed right in her face (she wasn't a 'friend', per se, so I let it rip). I had a similar experience recently. The conversation started with "I'm worried about Bernie supporters getting behind HRC. He's not even a Democrat and has done all this." I responded the Dem party at the national level left me and I had been a Dem for decades. He was shocked and I believe he got my message.

I think he's going to step into a leadership role for BrandNewCongress. And together, we're going to elect a House and Senate full of those who WILL hold HRC or Trump accountable.

I've been so disheartened by how this entire primary went down, until I saw Bernie's address last night. Viva la Revolution!

the little things you can do are more valuable than the giant things you can't! - @thanatokephaloides. On Twitter @wink1radio. (-2.1) All about building progressive media.

for I think a couple of weeks now and my blood pressure thanks me for it.

I always suspected that there were a lot more centrists there posing as liberals and progressives, which was pretty clear with the subtle concern trolling that's been going on for years but now that Markos has basically come out as an establishment neoliberal centrist, they all no longer feel that they need to pretend to be the slightest bit progressive.

It reminds me a lot of when Obama was elected and the racists came out of the woodwork. Sanders started his run and all of the people who praised Sanders in the past (just so long as he stayed in his little box in the Senate), ostensibly as a way to fraudulently pad their progressive credibility, ripped their masks off and are now showing themselves to be the neoliberal right-leaners that they were all along.

Having spend so much of my time there over the last decade plus makes me feel a profound sense of betrayal; Markos and his sycophants there have been using me (and everyone else that actually is progressive) lo these many years, and our participation there helped make Markos a very wealthy man while the supposed mission of his blog hasn't made any real headway at all.

It has left me very jaded and it is the reason that I don't think that in the end I'll be able to pull the lever for Clinton. I have come to the realization that neoliberal centrists are more damaging to the cause of real progress than the extremist right. Much like MLK found the white moderate to be the greater stumbling block in the stride toward freedom than the Klu Klux Klanner, so is the neoliberal centrist the greater stumbling block in the stride toward progress than the extremist right-winger.

I cannot make common cause with such destructive forces. I cannot stand beside them in support of someone that I sincerely believe will do more harm to the cause of progress than they will do good. If Bernie Sanders came to my house to implore me to hold my nose and vote for Clinton, I don't think I could even do it then. I've seen things that I can't un-see, the bell can't be un-rung. The toothpaste is out of the tube, pick your analogy.

This election has been much more of an eye opener for me than any in the past in terms of understanding who the real enemies of progress actually are, and it ain't the GOP.

I spent years and years as a republican, I bought into their bullshit that they really were about spending our tax money responsibly, etc. etc. etc.

Then after getting the Internet and doing a lot of research I discovered that not only were they not what they claimed to be, I wasn't what I thought I was either.

I wasn't a Conservative, I was a progressive. I didn't mind taxes, I minded what it was being used for, and that wasn't what I wanted.

So I joined the party of progressives..

Wash rinse and repeat.

It's the same bullshit product sold with a different sales pitch. Two sides of the same exact fucking coin...

I realized after about a month being away from the Great Orange Shithouse that I wasn't so much mad at them, I was disgusted with myself for falling for the same fucking thing I fell for last time, and jumped right back into the habit of settling for the lessor evil, just one belonging to a different team no less.

I am not giving them a chance to fool me a 3rd time. They can all die in a fire as far as I am concerned.

A true Progressive doesn't think like members of the fake Progressive "community". If you don't think that way, you almost have to get "hit in the head" in order to see it. True Progressives want to help people and there is an emotional component attached to the political thinking. This primary showed me and I have woke up. I resent having to be so cautious of the Dems, but that is the way it is. I also feel foolish and taken advantage of. I tell myself I will be stronger for the experience.

I know there wont be any change to the status quo under Clinton. No different than Obama and only marginally different on economics than whomever a GOP president would be.

But the fact is we do have to have a president, so it should be a Democrat for a lot of very good reasons. So therefore, I want her to run the best most dishonest campaign she can.

She can govern just like moderate republican Obama, but winning is vital.

As far as electing "more and better" Democrats, what a joke! The beloved DWS has been and still is a disaster on many levels. To read here that she is being supported at GOS is just more proof of their descent to the nether world.

Please do not call HRC and her HillBots centrists! That appellation drives me crazy. She is a Right Wing Republican--not just a DINO--but a full-fledged, unflinching Right Winger. The topics that these people used to write about is what made DK a great 'progressive' website. I have been a member there since 2005 and can't believe how much it has changed since I joined.
There aren't any decent writers who cover different types of topics like we see here in the EBs.
Now it's either Hillary central, anti Bernie central, Trump central or the dumb things that the republicans do central. If I want to read about the dumb things that the republicans do then I will go to the huff post.

Beginning in 2003, as his blog expanded to a community, Kos appointed four or five "guest bloggers" (also called "front page diarists," "contributing editors," "front-pagers," and simply "FPers") who are selected from the community and tasked with regular contributions on the front page (without needing to have their articles recommended or promoted).

2003: Billmon; Steve Soto; Steve Gilliard; RonK, Seattle
2004: Meteor Blades; DHinMI; Melanie; Trapper John; theoria; DemFromCT
2005: DavidNYC; kid oakland; Hunter; Armando; a gilas girl; Plutonium Page [14]
2006: georgia10; SusanG; mcjoan; DarkSyde; Superribbie (announced as a front-pager, but backed out the next day, citing time constraints) [15]
2007: BarbinMD; Kagro X; Devilstower; MissLaura
2008: brownsox; Scout Finch; smintheus; Jed L.
2009: Steve Singiser
Additionally, while on the promotional tour for Crashing the Gate, Kos turned over much of the day-to-day management to the 2006 guest bloggers. Emeritus guest bloggers have frequently retained some privileges depending on circumstances, but are not expected to post as often.

A front-page diarist known as "Armando" (Armando Lloréns-Sar)[16][17] took a prominent role during Moulitsas' book hiatus in 2005 and was well known for his foreign policy and legal analysis. He also had his own political blogging website, called "Swords Crossed" that encouraged dialog between liberals and conservatives, and was a guest political commentator in a wide variety of media outlets, including The Majority Report and Talking Points Memo Cafe. After his identity and details of his legal career were made widely known, he announced his departure from Daily Kos in June 2006, citing loss of anonymity.[18] For two months, Armando would resurface periodically, and all of his comments were accompanied by a signature line stating that he would be returning to blogging in December 2006. Armando did indeed resurface, albeit under a user ID, "Big Tent Democrat," in September 2006. Armando "Big Tent Democrat" then left the Daily Kos site again in March 2007, citing "differences with the Management."[19]

Another contributor posts pseudonymously as "DarkSyde" on the front page of Daily Kos and a blog called Unscrewing the Inscrutable. He is best known as a science writer with specific attention paid to biology, astronomy, and political issues such as creationism or climate change. In particular, DarkSyde's Hurricane Katrina diaries were widely read during the storm and in the immediate aftermath. They are included in a collection of science articles in the e-book Kosmos: You Are Here, co-written with science fiction novelist Mark Sumner and illustrated by paleowildlife artist Carl Buell. All the contributors to Kosmos donated the proceeds to fund the YearlyKos convention.

"Bill in Portland Maine" (Bill Harnsberger)[20] is a front page regular, best known for his recurring Cheers & Jeers feature, in which he bestows plaudits and brickbats on various newsmakers. Cheers & Jeers, which first appeared on Daily Kos on December 9, 2003, has evolved into a mini-community within the larger Daily Kos community, in which members post announcements about weddings, engagements, births, deaths, pet news, and other personal items, as well as sharing their own particular plaudits and brickbats. He lives with his partner Michael (known as "Common Sense Mainer"), a cat named Vegas, and his beloved chocolate lab, Molly. In the fall of 2007, Harnsberger lost his job, and the Daily Kos community collected $50,000 in pledges to allow him to continue to write Cheers & Jeers as a full-time paid position.

On June 2, 2007, Steve Gilliard, one of the blog's original contributors, died at the age of 42.

I have loved seeing your byline for years, but I always seem to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, lifetime affliction, to get to chat with you. Maybe this morning?
Why are you and so many others giving up on Bernie now? I have, personally, found more reasons to be hopeful lately than before when so many were still still cheering him on instead of planning as if that woman has won the primary. July 25 could be a long way off for someone like her as new insight into her deviousness, and criminal behavior pops up almost daily, not to mention that it's obvious she has stolen this primary from the word go and besides the FBI she has Judicial Watch after her for FOIA infractions, and 2016 Election Fraud & Voter Suppression Lawsuit for The People, the highest unfavorable ratings of a dem candidate in history and more that would tire me out to write about here.
Am I wrong? Is it time to stop dreaming? I'm begging you, if I am wrong can you snap me out of it? You, I will listen to you.

There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.. This...is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.--John Adams

and their corrupt government. Too many people are still unaware in the matrix. I am hoping the email and election fraud legal actions break through the false Hillary glow that so many of the indoctrinated see.

This will sound dumb, but I have been a democrat since before I could vote. My 2 favorite people (Dad and Grandpa) were democrats, actually all of my immediate family. Not long ago I was having trouble leaving the party. Now I am just waiting for the best day. It seems like a good idea to wait and add my re-register to others to make a bigger impact. I'm just assuming it would be better that way. I'm not sure.
Perhaps it is because I have this sense of a personal and public betrayal, but it seems the democrats are worse than the repubs and I have no love for republicans at all.

I'm in the same boat with you, and the Dem party was the party of my parents and grandparents. (all big FDR Democrats and politically active) My sister and I are now going to vote 3rd party if it's Clinton or Trump. We've never done that, but after all the stuff we saw the Dem party do this primary season, we want nothing to do with it. For them to act like they care about the little people is very insulting. They are just the opposite. Bernie Sanders was the real deal and sis and I are happy we got a chance to vote for a real FDR Democrat.

Blatant election fraud everywhere. But if Bernie doesn't take up that fight, she will, basically, "win"--by paying off the refs.

Yes, Bernie could still do something, but it's unlikely it will be as Dem nominee.

plenty of reasons to make this a time for solid cussing and ranting. Smile

Seriously though, while many are venting steam and annoyance, I doubt too many are unaware that there is a chance that Clinton will implode before the convention.

But based on all the stuff that has come out I am not so sure it will work anyway.

I am firmly convinced that the DNC/3rd wayers would much rather lose an election with Clinton than lose their grip on the party with a Sanders Victory.

They don't really care one way or another which party wins, the oligarchs already own both so to them it doesn't matter.

I am firmly convinced that the DNC/3rd wayers would much rather lose an election with Clinton than lose their group on the party with a Sanders Victory.

This is what scared the crapola out of the DNC: the idea that a campaign financed without corporate dollars could potentially succeed. $27 at a time doesn't leave much extra for the lifestyles that democratic leaders have been accustomed to. There are so many things that baffle me about Clinton supporters, but their inability to or disinterest in accounting for the incredible wealth acquired by Bill and Hillary in such a short period is at the top. There are only two doors. Connecting them should be simple.

So you're absolutely right. If Clinton loses to Trump, the money keeps flowing because the boogeyman must be taken down. If Sanders had won, the DNC would have folded.

she can wait another few weeks. We'll all know soon enough, once that convention gavel bangs it closed, and you won't believe what "high gear" is gonna look like after that.

Besides, I'm kinda tapped out. I gave some extra to Sanders after the CA primary but medical bills are whompin' me again (I'm okay, just busted one of my elbow bones, owchhh--I hate being such a klutz, it's the story of my life....)

I don't fucking care any more, it's the same bloody song every time, all they want is our cash and votes, after that we can go to hell.

Their grip on the party is strong. But you know what? For the first time in living memory, I think we might actually have a chance to strike a powerful blow against the Empire.

She is so far to the right (war & peace & corporate power), and he is sufficiently 'leftish' (supported abortion before he was against it, less hawkish) that it really doesn't matter so much this time. We're screwed no matter which of them wins.

For that reason, because she has made it such a toss up for us, we are actually free this election season to show our resentment at how we were treated by fully depriving them of any of our support, no matter what Bernie has to say to us.

Why 'go nuclear?' Because this time, if Hillary loses, the Clinton 'empire' within the Democratic Party will be severely discredited. The Centrists would be forever damaged by the stupidity/foolishness of their tactics, their desperate willingness to assassinate the character of a true friend of the party.

It could very well give us the opening we need to begin radically transforming the Dem Party into The People's party. If she loses, those institutional Democrats (like Joe Biden) who liked what Bernie was saying would be given the political cover they need to break away from The Losers.

That is really what is at stake for us this fall. Yes, those stakes are very high indeed.

So high that, if Hillary is competitive in late October due to the support she is getting from warhawk Republicans, I will in all likelihood go from writing in Bernie's name on the ballot to voting for Trump outright.

Trump may still say something that truly terrifies me between now and then, but there is at least one scenario in which I would do the unthinkable---vote for a Republican---simply because of the good it would do for the future of the Democratic Party and the prospects of defeating the Oligarchy in the long run.

than do a "spite" vote for Trump for quite some time.

I don't think I am going to try to convince them to do that anymore.

The more I look at the situation from a purely tactical perspective the more reasons I can come up with to vote for a racist Oompa Loompa over a murdering war criminal and election fraud conductor...

Something that leaves me both disgusted with both parties and just a tad with myself for even considering it, but when you look at the potentials for long term damage that each represents it appears that Clinton would actually be the worse choice ultimately.

And that is one giant ball of fucked uppedness right there.....

So true... And like you, I've always been forever against acting in spite, but this just seems to be unfolding in a way that actually makes the spiteful option the most rational move to pursue.

If we don't do what we can to reward them for their incredible disloyalty to sacred Democratic Party traditions, they'll just grow stronger in all their manipulative glory. (shaking head) We can't let that happen if we care about everything we've poured our hearts and souls into over the past year...

amidst all of the Lacanian metaconversation and theoretically-minded cleverness (which is after all what Zizek is good for), there is a short and very reasonable passage about the dialectic between right-wing nationalism and "center-left" neoliberalism. When Zizek writes about this topic he's usually discussing the former Yugoslavia (that's where he's from, after all), but his thought applies to practically any political conversation you care to name, from Europe to India to Donald Trump.

The gist of it is this: neoliberal policy provokes right-wing nationalism, which in turn drives the "Left" and everyone else further into the arms of the neoliberals. Rinse and repeat. There's no winning in this dialectic -- right now the right-wing nationalists get neoliberal policy, which screws everyone over, but eventually the neoliberals get right-wing nationalist policy, too. This is what I meant when I argued that Clinton cannot stop Trumpism.

There is simply no point to voting for either end of the dialectic. Do not vote for Clinton; do not vote for Trump. Try your best to vote for someone with half a chance of ending the dialectic, now or twenty years from now.
