Occupy Trump - some speculation

Could 1968 replay in 2016? On the GOP side this time.

Update: It's happening as my article indicated: Drumpf's Kansas rally got disrupted by peace warriors protesting his racism and threat to democracy. Go Occupy Trump!

Chicago 1968.jpg

Herr Drumpf has a rally scheduled for Cincinnati, OH, tomorrow, Sunday afternoon. Media speculation is swirling on the Cinci rally. Is it still on? Would it be cancelled? Would the security arrangement be complete? Or suffice? Here's the Guardian saying it is still on/off/on/off:

The big question is whether the young peace warriors of Chicago have inspire the compatriots in Cincinnatti to try the same tomorrow? Circumstances differ, of course. I have no insight into the state of play among peace warriors there, but it wouldn't surprise, eh? And then the question becomes, what thereafter? Could the following scenario unfold?

About that Hillary misspoke" excuse

[cross-posted to Kossacks_for_Sanders]

So I've been seeing a lot of Hillary apologists try and pass off her words supporting Nancy Reagan's "support" for AIDS research as a simple misspeak, that when she said, "The other point that I wanted to make too," she was still talking about Alzheimer's, so everyone needs to chill.

Still and forever a Democrat

I understand some of the rhetoric. I've been there. Heck, I'll be 68 in 22 days. How could I not have been where you feel you are now.

When I was 18, I was a McCarthy supporter, but was deemed too young to vote. One might think that would be enough to put me off the whole concept of voting right there.

I backed McGovern in 1972. We know how that worked out.

Marvellous Bernie and Jesse Jackson Town Hall

If you have the chance, please watch this weekend's Rainbow PUSH Coalition town hall with Bernie and Rev'd Jesse Jackson, Sr, held today. It is special: watch these two old friends and the town hall interact. It is marvellous, like an old barbershop quartet singing in harmony. Smile I think I've managed the link. Let me know if I screwed it up. Bernie's intro is around 45 mins in, then follows 10 mins or so of celebration and the two get into it around 60 mins.

Why I Think the Illinois Primary Will Be a Pleasant Sanders Surprise

As the Illinois Democratic approaches, I find myself increasingly optimistic about Bernie Sanders' chances. I don't claim to have any hard data. I was talking with an Illinois State University professor whose insight and expertise I trust. He says there really isn't any hard polling data that he to which he has access. I base my analysis on some broad impressions of the arc of Democratic politics the past several years.

Grandma Hillary and her right wing views

1981 - the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) publish a Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), describing cases of a rare lung infection, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), in five young, previously healthy, gay men in Los Angeles. All the men have other unusual infections as well, indicating that their immune systems are not working; two have already died by the time the report is published. This edition of the MMWR marks the first official reporting of what will become known as the AIDS epidemic.
