Anti-Capitalist MeetUp: reclaiming the possibility of democracy or creating libertarian warlordism
Submitted by annieli on Sun, 04/24/2016 - 6:59pmWhat remains certain is that Reconstruction failed, and that for blacks its failure was a disaster whose magnitude cannot be obscured by the genuine accomplishments that did endure.
- Eric Foner
The libertarian warlordism nationally rampant in the 1870s may yet return in the 21st Century, given its revival in the Second Reconstruction of the 1960s Civil Rights movement and its apparent reemergence in the post-9/11 period.

I just got a fund-raising appeal from
Submitted by RuralLiberal on Sun, 04/24/2016 - 4:53pmthe Great and Powerful Orange. They asked me to send $5.00 to "help them keep fighting".
Here is the reply I sent:
Dear Michael and Will-
I probably would have contributed to "keep Daily Kos fighting", had you not decided to "fight" only for Hillary. Instead, I will send the $5.00 you asked for directly to Bernie Sanders' campaign.

Submitted by Sarella Sand on Sun, 04/24/2016 - 3:28pmSo this is my first diary ever on the Internet.
I have lurked here and commented a bit a TOP. First off, I am a Millennial Latina living in Texas. I was raised in a poor but loving family. I got a scholarship to a top university and was sure that it was my ticket to a middle class lifestyle. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I spent most of my 20s being poor. It wasn't until my late 20s that I finally started living a middle class lifestyle. So that is a little about me.
McBride Day
Submitted by Robyn on Sun, 04/24/2016 - 2:37pmSarah McBride was president of the American University student body when she came out as transgender in 2012. Having worked on Beau Biden's 2010 campaign for AG of Delaware and Jack Markel's 2008 gubernatorial campaign, she had gained some connections that earned her a spot as a White House intern...becoming the first openly transgender woman to work in the White House.
In January 2013 Sarah joined the board of directors of Equality Delaware and was instrumental in Delaware passing anti-discrimination protections for transgender people. Sarsh moved on to work at the Center for American Progress. New Statesman has predicted that she will be the first transgender American to be elected to high office,
Sarah has posted a viral selfie to social media:

George Will's Sloppy Defense of Climate Change Deniers
Submitted by Steven D on Sun, 04/24/2016 - 12:24pmGeorge Will still has a job at the Washington Post. They certainly aren't paying him by the word. Perhaps they're paying him for the lies he's willing to tell in defending the indefensible.
