How US taxes work

Something that bothers me is how I came to learn how the progressive tax system in the US actually worked. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I learned that I was wrong on taxes and how much people paid. And if it wasn't for a random comment on the internet, I would probably still be wrong about them.

Some interesting Trends on Google, Check out these trends in search results.

A couple days ago I mentioned in passing that I wondered what the Google Search results were looking like for a couple key terms.

So, me being me I started poking around.

Let's just say, I don't think the DNC is gonna be particularly happy with their decision making process this election

Rogue One

This is the new Star Wars movie that is filming now. This stand alone prequel will introduce new characters and a new "May the force be with us". Looks like Bernie had an influence on the writers.

Let's get the word out on the Greens and "May the force be with us".

The Fable of the Mongoose and the Donkey Farm

Once upon a time, there was this donkey farm. It started out poor, with only a few donkeys, but with careful effort, over many years, it started producing better and better donkeys. The neighbors around the donkey farm were pleased by this, and started trying to help the donkey farm out where they could. This culminated in some truly champion donkeys, but unfortunately, the last in the line was shot by a madman, finished off by accident, and the farm fell upon bad times.

Open Sesame 07/16/16

So the Science Men, they have decided that ducks are smart.

A duck farmer for many years, I could have told them that. But, they never asked. Instead, they made some Science Men tests. And that is how they learned. About the smartness.

Alex Kacelnik and Anotone Martinho III, they Science Man out at Oxford grid-cell-11095-1468512579-4.jpgUniversity. And there they "presented newborn ducklings with pairs of objects that were either identical or different in shape or color. And they found that the birds could learn these traits. They weren't imprinting on a specific shape or color, but on the concepts of 'same' or 'different.' They were looking beyond the individual objects to think about how they are related. In short, 'they were abstracting properties,' says Kacelnik."

These Science Men determined that the ducks, they distinguish between "same" and "different," earlier, and better, than do human infants.

This means ducks, they are the Rulers.

In this tube right here, you can learn whether you are smarter than a duck. You don't have to tell anyone the results.

Sanders gets primetime speaking slot at Democratic National Convention

In a move meant to portray party unity, Sanders is scheduled to speak on Monday alongside First Lady Michelle Obama and Astrid Silva, a prominent immigration reform activist. The theme of that night is "United Together."

Snip

Clinton's emails, servers, Comey, and the Senate.

I am interested in what will happen to the investigations of Hillary Clinton's misuse of government records ("email") scandal/case. I won't be at all surprised if the Senate impeaches Director Comey and conducts a no-holds-barred investigation of the whole mess. I am neither a lawyer nor a seer, but I have been reading some items about the scandal and about the public outrage which lead me to believe that Hillary is in for a few white knuckle days.

On the Nader Narrative and Democratic Loyalty

I just wanted to share some thoughts on that sad tale of long ago--the 2000 election--and the politics of its aftermath. It's an essay aimed at those who, like me, thought of themselves as Democrats, who held out hope that a successful Sanders campaign could reform the party from the inside, and who are now left wondering what comes next. It seems relevant right about now.
