Revolution

Has This All Gone Too Far?

I'm a bit worried about the state of America at the moment. My friends and family are suggesting we should invoke Article 25 to have DJT removed from office. After 9 days of being President.

This strikes me as being a bit harsh, because I don't see any "the republic is on the brink" reasons to invoke this clause for the first time in the nation's history. By the way, this is by no means a defense of DJT or his henchmen, or his negligently underqualified cabinet.

Anger in Flyover Country

This is a heartbreaking and terrifying article. I hope you'll read the whole thing. The essayist writes very well, about things that are foreign to many of us. He is a retired social worker now living in the rural south and working on a PhD.

I, too, am worried by our descent into prewar hatred. I had a friend from Dubrovnik in the’80s. She was a typical Yugoslav – half Croatian, quarter Serbian, and a quarter Russian. She was full of hope, smart, pretty, and heartbreakingly naïve. If she survived the war, I’m pretty sure my friend lost what made her a beautiful human being. She haunts me. Civil wars seem implausible until they start and then they follow the devil’s logic. People like my friend tend to die in them or turn into something less than they were in order to survive.

Welcome to the revolution

Yes it is here. You may not be aware yet but we have reached that point. Marx was pretty clear about all this if you realize the time and context of his writings.

Once the system reaches a point where it can no longer sustain itself it will transform spontaneously. The oligarchy will seize power openly and the façade will disappear. So called "public institutions" will be taken over completely and there will be no apology.

James Mattis, Trump's Secretary of War, is a War Criminal, Warmonger Imperialist

"James Mattis is a Secretary of Offense." David Swanson

The president of some U.S. citizens, Trump, or whoever else is making the decisions for the president of some U.S. citizens (sorry man, I can't help it) has/have selected retired general James Mattis as Secretary of Defense.

"I voted for Trump, so there!"

Quick hit.

This is all over the internet and being discussed. I'll give it the Big Al angle.

This is just one person in one place, but it's interesting how it played out and how it's being played in the media. Most are calling it a racist rant and siding with the black employees while some are defending the white woman.
