World History this day

Bakersfield? Buck Owens? What?
Sit-a-while
on swinging porch
where tin-dippers and
sweet water
in cool touches
meet lips
from hand dug wells.
Good morning good people,

Simple
told in norms from long ago
skipping depths as flat rocks go

I have been in the air and on the road. The highlight of my travels so far was Vancouver Island, where the light shines luminously and long, and where I met the Sitka Spruce …

I ran into the Devil, babe
He loaned me twenty bills
I spent that night in Utah
In a cave up in the hillsI set out running but I take my time
A friend of the devil is a friend of mine
If I get home before daylight
I just might get some sleep tonight

This week and focusing more on contemporary events and performances in China. Still using the resilience tag. Any culture that can survive several thousand years has a resilience about it we can learn from. One of its strengths is the continuity of a written language that allows us to peer into the past and see how other humans lived through the challenges of their times.
