neoliberalism

Neoliberalism in current perspective (with Richard Wolff video)

In this diary, I laid out a brief argument: neoliberalism is a real term describing a real thing. The diary was a rejection of people who argue in the fashion of "well I don't use the word 'neoliberalism' because (insert excuse here)." Can you imagine people discussing "the way things are" without using words like "sociology" and without referencing the work of sociologists? It's on that level.

Let's talk about neoliberalism some more.

Happy new year everyone! Okay, now that that's over, I think we ought to begin 2021 through renewed opposition to the school of thought, policy, and action that has dominated the scene at all levels for the past forty years. I am referring, of course, to neoliberalism.

The discussion re-announced itself with a revealed interview with one of those Big Men on Campus with Joe Biden's ear. I am referring, of course, to Larry Summers.

The neoliberals' cultural stock is in decline.

The neoliberals' cultural stuck is in decline. When they had that suave dude Barack Obama telling everyone he was like Gandhi or Mandela, that was totally a thing. Cultural neoliberalism was rockin' da house as every branch of government, both state and Federal, was being awarded to Republicans.

Thoth's Prophecy predicts neoliberalism and neoconservatism 2000 years ago

Well, not quite, yet listening to the prophecy will certainly resonate with modern readers. Nothing new under the sun? Yes, perhaps in some basic ways as regarding the human experience. Perhaps we should consider humanity as an experiment in which sentient beings are allowed what control they possess against the forces of nature, revealing how little control humanity has over itself.
