American's generally believe ourselves to be a science based culture. Often arguing about whose science is better at supporting their side of proposed regulatory or legislative change. Persuading us which product to buy or treatment to have prescribed.

This round of writing I have noticed fewer full research articles are available. Abstracts do not provide enough information to evaluate the quality of the research.

I am publishing my original piece by my mind today is on the middle east. I don't see a scenario where Iran does not respond to the assassination.

The expectation of modern American medicine is that as individuals we are compliant to the system. The self-responsibility morphed last century to a system of doctor diagnoses, approved therapies and treatments. Physician had control of who was admitted and discharged from medical facilities and the type of care received while an inpatient. This century the medical doctor is loosing power of control of healthcare and lives to the insurance companies, government and treatment protocols influenced by commercial interests.

Leftover Potluck

Another holiday come and gone. I hope yours was rewarding. Visiting with family can be a two edged sword - sometimes stressful and combative, other times pleasant and fulfilling. We see one another rarely these days so it tends to be pleasant. My Mom is 88, so I'm glad to spend some time with her while I can. Both my sisters were there this year, one having returned from a tour of teaching in China. They are close to the same age and they have had issues in the past, but all was well this year. This week I thought I would pull together several sources I've collected but not posted and serve a smorgasbord of ideas from food to politics to the economy. Let's begin by getting back to the garden...

Open Thread Friday

Hello friends, volunteered to come back at the keyboard to write a series of Open Thread diaries which hopefully ends with Funky Fridays returning.

Catch up on a few issues from in my previous OTs and comments. The plants and animals on the farm are doing well. Expanded the vegetable garden and now have a strawberry patch. Almost all preparations for winter are in place. I keep thinking of one more project to get done. Hoping for less snow than last year. The possibility of the highway being rerouted through the property appears to be very remote according to Transportation Department personnel at the public meeting last week.

Going to try and create conversations on individual health, healthcare business in general and government roles in healthcare.
