Roughly 13 months ago, Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated. Because he had conspired to stay in the office long after his term had expired, and because he had denied a scheduled election from happening, very little of an elected government existed already.
That was when things got dramatically worse.

Sometimes it seems that Haiti is a black-hole where joy and hope goes to die.
However, that isn't true today.
Last week the workers of Haiti went out on strike for higher wages, and today they won.

Today, December 26, is a noteworthy day, because it is the 500th Anniversary of the first black slave revolt in the Americas.

Who knew? Well, all of us if we think about it.

Every time a new piece of evidence is uncovered about the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise, it points back to Miami.

Let's get something out of the way: I will not shed a tear for Haiti's late President Jovenel Moïse.

Watching this video, it reminded me of what I'd read about early 20th Century China, as the last weak dynasty fell and waves of revolution rocked the nation. Followed by unrest and another revolution, and then another revolution, each one bloodier than the last.
Into that chaos and vacuum arose brutal gangs, that sometimes aligned with corrupt politicians. This is what we are seeing in Haiti today.

The Dominican Republic is building a wall, and they are doing it for a very familiar reason.
