R.I.P., snoopydawg (UPDATED)

Friends, the saddest moment I have experienced in decades was when the Ogden Police Dept. officer and I spoke today for the second time.
Snoopy last posted on June 20th. On June 27th, Socialprogressive texted her and received no response. On June 30th, I contacted the police to do a welfare check on her. They discovered her body in her home on July 1st.
Next Saturday, I will be speaking again with the officer for more details which cannot be disclosed until investigations and reports are completed. At that time, I will give you all an update. That will also give me time to compose an obituary befitting our friend. I need some time to process this grief. I am not in good enough shape emotionally right now.
At the moment, we are making plans to adopt Sam. I do want to stress to any site member who wishes to make her part of your family to let us know. She is up for adoption currently, but the shelter is closed until Monday afternoon. Snoopy wanted to have me be in charge of Sam and I told her to get a lawyer to draw up documents and compose her will. It will be a while before documents can be located, if they even exist. But Sam can't wait. For all I know, she could have been adopted yesterday afternoon.
Folks, I need to step away for a moment and will leave it here for now.

edit: Tracy and I had an agreement that if she died, I would take responsibility for Sam. The immediate problem is the young age of the dog, and our old age. Labs have a long life span.
If any dawg lovin' site member wishes to adopt Sam, if she hasn't been adopted already, we will pay all costs of her delivery via flight from Utah to you. The shelter ships dogs all over the US.
We will provide you with assorted socks and tp rolls, as well.
I will speak with a shelter employee when the facility opens Monday afternoon.

she was one of our most prolific posters and a backbone of this community. The many posts she made about her dogs, especially Sam will live in my memory for the rest of my days.

She was unapologetic in her politics and held all politician's feet to the fire, a staunch voice for the downtrodden, and one who wouldn't back down if she thought she was right. Her biggest pet peeve was hypocrisy, which she called out whenever she saw it.

Snoops, I started missing you a day or two after your last post, on June 20th, and there'll be a little hole in my heart from here on.

I hope you're with Charlie, together, again.

This is such sad news. I had hoped for snoopy, that her absence was a technical fault or intended for personal reasons. I hope she died in a way that was gentle, with Sam beside her.

I’m sorry for us all, and all those who loved and appreciated snoopy. This must be very hard for you otc, to lose a friend and a deeply beloved member of this community. I wish you peace and strength, and for Sam a loving home.

Sad and shocking news. It sounds like Sam may’ve been alone and helpless for 10 days. Wonder how she survived. She might not have if you hadn’t asked for a wellness check.

I posted this for her in my OT today, and I would like to drop it here as well...

mouth, that's saying something. I hope (agnostic here) that her passing was peaceful and free of pain. She is beyond the stars now, crossing the rainbow bridge reuniting with her beloved 4-legged and a few 2-legged family. To all of you on here, condolences and thoughts of peace. I'm a TPW regular but I visit here, too. Snoopy and I were fellow dawg buds, and had/have our love of Beagles in common. Unfortunately, this is the hardest part of life for us all. Sad

Rest in Peace, Beauty, and Power, Dear Snoopydawg. A very sad Rec'd!!

I was wondering why Snoopydawg had not posted lately and assumed she was taking a Summer break. I am saddened by her passing and will miss her outrage at those human weaknesses that plague Homo Sapiens. Although Snoopy is physically gone, I believe her spirit carries on in others.

We are a community. OTC's call to Ogden police proves it. We share ideas, but we also care about each other. That's why C99 is a special place. We should treasure this site!

What sad news this is. Heartbreaking. A huge loss for us.

Thanks so much for posting OtC!

SD was a great force in the community here. I will sure miss all the great links, tweets, memes, etc. Not to mention her complete contempt for hypocrites, which I quite admired. I will also miss some great photos at SP's Friday night photo thread.

She was a fine, principled person who held strong political convictions and was steadfast in her political beliefs.

I got to know snoopy a bit when I did a fundraiser for her many years ago on DK when she was on the verge of losing her home. I know she loved Sam and couldn't bear to be without her.

RIP snoopydawg.

respond to one of my comments. She seemed to be leading such an active life with Sam. Off on their camping trips. So easy to overlook that death does come to those that are vibrant and busy.

Snoopy deserved better than to be so physically isolated. Socialprogressive and OTC are to be commended for noting Snoopy's absence/silence and taking action. She was a dear friend to many here and will be missed.
