To My Friends on the Left: Hillary Clinton Is Not the Enemy

Jeffrey Isaacs published a letter today in The Nation. I would quibble with a few things in it, for example, it is addressed to a successful professional audience and is somewhat oblivious to the travails of those who are not. Hillary’s foreign policy is certainly “within a bipartisan mainstream” as Issacs says. Yet this should only be taken as an indictment of this “bipartisan mainstream”.

FBI Director Comey will reopen the Hillary Clinton Case.

From RT (link below), and reported by other sources:

The FBI has learned of more emails involving Hillary Clinton’s private email server while she headed the State Department, FBI Director James Comey told several members of Congress, telling them he is reopening the investigation.

The Existential Election

This election is being portrayed as an existential choice-- Do we want democracy? Or do we want fascism? The problem with this framing is that it presents a false choice. Democracy isn't actually on the table.

Princeton released a study characterizing the US as an oligarchy. And our political elites--those we charge with protecting democracy--agree.

A Trump Win Would Empower The Greens? My Ass.

Someone said in my previous entry that Trump has to be elected to destroy the Democrats and empower the Green Party by 2020. Here's why that's total bullshit:

1. This was tried before with the Dems and the 50 state strategy. They ran on impeaching Bush and Cheney, Single Payer and Raising the Minimum Wage among other things. Every one of those things were immediately off the table once they were elected.

HRC is ill it seems

Lots of speculation going on....little factual information. I did see the video of her collapse today. It seemed genuine. Lots of reports that she has pneumonia. That seems hard to believe. Also a few reports that DNC is having emergency meetings about the possibility of replacing her.

I am convinced she is not well but have little faith in the rest.

It is true that the DNC has the power to chose her replacement if it comes to that. So much for democracy.

A Primary In Review: Was the Democratic Primary Rigged?

Throughout the Democratic primary, many raised doubts as to the impartiality of the process. These doubts stemmed primarily from grievances regarding systemic issues like superdelegates and closed primaries as well as concerns surrounding the Party Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who had co-chaired Clinton’s primary run in 2008. The media’s seemingly slanted coverage only added to suspicions.

Yes, in mundane but still dirty ways, the nomination WAS stolen from Bernie

I'm sure he regrets now taking the emails off the table in the first debate. And never touching the Foundation, which obviously was always an egregious conflict of interest for a Secretary of State, dovetailing completely with his dominant campaign theme about the role of money in politics.
