China

China is the indespensible nation to the US economy

Contrary to the current narrative, China has been instrumental in keeping the US economy viable for the middle class. As our economy has stagnated or collapsed for Middle America, China continues to produce goods for consumption in the US that helps to maintain our lifestyle. The narrative is that China stole our good paying manufacturing jobs. And this is true just looking at the data. Most of our retail goods today are made in China.

Time for a really good root cellar?

Or maybe a well-supplied tornado shelter, given the weather that climate change has given us lately? Or ...?

The Russian leaders, who, unlike the Western liars, speak the truth, have said clearly that Russia will never again fight a war on her own territory. The Russians couldn’t put it more clearly. Provoke a war, and we will destroy you on your own territory.

We're dead, many of us. And probably very soon.

Was Trump's strike all about North Korea?

Trump's missile strike hasn't made a lot of sense as something directed at Russia or Syria, minimally damaging as it was. Or as a message worth the blowback, to placate the neocons - they'll never be satisfied until we've annihilated ourselves.

Tit for tat. China publishes "Human Rights Record of the United States in 2016"

The following is China's response to the US government's 2016 Human rights report on China.

What more can I say? The US had forgot all about kettles and pots, the goose and gander, stones and glass windows, motes and beams.

Enjoy.

And Just Like That — Everything Changed

When the balance of power shifts in the world, you expect it to be a Big Thing. Am I right? Bombs bursting in air? But turning points are often very subtle. And this one happened just now.

It’s “time to say goodbye” to the United States, said Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte on a visit to China, where he and President Xi Jinping are turning the recently-frosty tide with bilateral agreements, while Washington now gets the cold shoulder.

Sunday Train: Going to Tianjin by Subway and High Speed Rail

OK, so after years of (off and on) writing about High Speed Rail, I've finally been on a High Speed Rail train ... on the Beijing - Tianjin Intercity Railway.

Though I have to say that I went to Tianjin by Subway and High Speed Rail, given that substantially more time was spent en-route on subways than on the HSR ... given that Beijing South Railway Station to Tianjin Station is only 35-41 minutes (depending on whether there is a stop at Wuqing).

The Quest for the New World Order

The incessant Russia/Putin propaganda we've been subjected to over the last four years along with the aggressive U.S. actions against Russia, i.e., Ukraine regime change, further encroachment of NATO on its borders, sanctions, the U.S. led Syria and Libya wars, etc., have led many to believe a military war with Russia might happen.
