Following that, is what I think is John Hammond's best album ever featuring members of The Band - Levon Helm, Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson along with Mike Bloomfield and Charlie Musselwhite. Yowzah! Following that is a 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival album and then a zydeco album from John Delafose. Finishing up is a pop album from The Zombies.

Well, this week we're a little heavy on the blues rock, but we'll start out with a couple of blues records. Percy Mayfield starts us off with a compilation of some of his earlier recordings followed by New Orleans piano player Cousin Joe weighing in with a late career album from the mid-80's blues revival period. After that it's off to blues rock with an album from Mick Taylor (former guitarist for John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and the Rolling Stones), a live album from The Band, performing with some amazing horns, and a double album from the band Redbone. After that, there's an album from Parliament that somebody gave me years ago telling me it was great, so, well, you decide. Then there's some folk-rock from Lindisfarne and we finish off with some pure pop from Tommy James & The Shondells that's been lurking in my collection for years.

It's a good week to listen to the blues, and we're starting off with Albert King's classic Stax album Born Under A Bad Sign, an album that grabbed a lot of folks by the ears and wouldn't let go. Following that is an album of Cousin Joe (Pleasant) from New Orleans' early recordings, there's some really great stuff in there. After that we move on to blues rock with some late 60's Lonnie Mack and Creedence Clearwater Revival after which is an assortment of recordings of Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Nicky Hopkins and others. We finish up with some prog rock from Be Bop Deluxe.

This week we have beaucoup de blues! Starting out we've got an old Junior Wells album followed by a compilation of Chicago blues from Lonnie Brooks, Pinetop Perkins and the Sons of the Blues (S.O.B. Band). After that we have some soul-blues from Johnnie Taylor in his Stax period followed by New Orleans artist Johnny Adams, backed by some fabulous horn arrangements and Wayne Bennett on guitar on most tracks. Following that it's on to some blues-rock with ZZ Top. Moving on to our diversity albums for the week, there's a compilation of british singles from the Immediate label, then get ready to yodel your blues away with country icon Jimmie Rodgers. We finish up with a radio program that features Mance Lipscomb, sponsored by the Social Security Administration, recorded during the great folk music scare of the 60's.

This week we have some great acoustic blues for you. Starting out we've got a compilation of delta slide guitar wizard Tampa Red's 78's from the 20's and 30's. Following that is a nice album of Piedmont Blues from John Jackson. After that, we go electric with Beaumont, Texas' Phillip Walker followed by an early (1969) Chambers brothers album. Then it's on to blues-rock with a live album from Canned Heat which may have a cut that is not available in the U.S. - if you have a vpn, you can probably get it. After that, we've got some straight rock from an EP I found laying around in my old 45's from Be Bop Deluxe, and we finish off with an album from Redbone which features their big hit. You'll probably recognize the hit when you hear it, though you might not remember the title or the band.

After that we've got an album of hippie music from the Holy Modal Rounders, an album of soul music from the Staple Singers, an album from a famous unknown guitar player Amos Garrett and we finish up with an album from Richard Thompson.

This is another good week for the blues. Starting off we've got a late 70's Muddy Waters album, followed by a collection of Chicago blues acts (Carey Bell, Magic Slim & The Teardrops and Johnny "Big Moose" Walker) and finishing off with a compilation of LaVern Baker singles. After that, it's blues rock time with a greatest hits comp from Wet Willie, a later 70's Climax Blues Band album, an Elvin Bishop album and a Pretty Things album. We finish off in the diversity department with a hard to pigeonhole stylistically, but nonetheless interesting album from Don Nix.

We've also got a great album featuring Sippie Wallace and Otis Spann backed up by the Jim Kweskin Jug band - this album is an overlooked gem, don't miss it. After that there's blues rock - a solo album from Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane), an album from The Fabulous Thunderbirds and a radio interview with Dave Edmunds which includes a live version of his big hit "I Hear You Knockin'." We finish up in the diversity department with country guy Charlie Rich and an album with some great tunes, including "Mohair Sam" and "I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water."

We've got a bunch of great stuff from New Orleans this week, starting off with Champion Jack Dupree (with Mickey Baker on guitar and Hal Singer on sax) and followed up by a great compilation of stuff, some from names you probably know and other stuff not, all of which is worth a listen. After that we've got an album from Aretha Franklin - some of it is a little schmaltzy, but the rest of it is solid r&b.

After that, it's on to George Thorogood, Blue Cheer, an EP from Dr. Feelgood and J.J. Cale's best album. We finish off with an album from Dutch prog-rockers Focus (with guitarist Jan Akkerman, who's about the same calibre as Jeff Beck).

After that in the blues rock category, there's an album from Texas' Doug Sahm and the Sir Douglas Quintet, an (imo) overlooked excellent album featuring Robin Trower and Jack Bruce, a late 80's album from Savoy Brown and a kind of peculiar album from Ten Years After. We finish up with some prog-rock from Gentle Giant.
